New to the site and need alot of help please!

  • Good morning all. I am new to the site but here is a little about me. I am 35 yr old married mother of 2 teenagers. I am 5 ft tall and weigh 230#. I feel like the Goodyear Blimp. I was always small as a child and as a teen I never weighed over 110#, but after kids I "settled" on weighing around 150#-160# for years. In 1998 I was diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis and severe psoriasis. I have since ballooned to my current weight and no mater what I try to do diet-wise has not effect on the weight. Working out heavily is a problem due to the joint pain and stiffness in both knees and my lower back. I am currently on 40mg Humira injections weelky, 10 mg Prednisone daily and 500 mg Naproxen twice a day for pain. Is there anyone out there that can relate???? And is there any help/hope for me!!! I know if I took off 50# I would feel alot better...any feedback is greatly appreciated!!!!
  • Hi - I have nothing to throw in on the medical side but welcome to 3fc. it's helped me a lot so far by being here and by joining you've made a step in the right direction. There's loads of different forums (I found some new ones today) so jump in where you feel comfortable. I'm sure i saw a forum for people with medical difficulties - dieting with obstacles or something I think. Anyway - welcome!
  • Hi Theresa . . .

I can relate, at least a little, as I have definitely developed osteo as I've gotten older. My major obstacle, however, is diabetes.

Although you will find lots of support wherever you may wander on 3FC you might want to take a look at the forum called DIETING WITH OBSTACLES. Sometimes it helps a lot to talk with people who can truly understand what you are facing. I know there are threads over there about Arthritis and one relating to Prednisone.

Here is a link . . . Dieting with Obstacles

Good Luck, chickie . . . Have a great evening. Just keep doing the best you possibly can, as much as you possibly can and the rewards will surely follow.
  • I agree with Doughnut... this is a great place to be. I am new, too, but I like what I have read so far. Everyone is so supportive!
