SF Candy Question

  • I know that in P1 SF hard candies are allowed (as part of your sweet treat allotment), how about SF chocolate candy (i.e. mini SF hershey bars or SF reese's PB cups). I would gladly give up my nightly jell-o for a few PB cups!

  • Yes, they would count as part of the 75 cal limit. Here's an extract from the Phase 1 food list located in the FAQ section as a sticky:
    SWEET TREATS (Limit to 75 calories per day)
    Sweet treats are items that contain sugar alcohols, such as:
    Candies, hard, sugar-free
    Chocolate powder, no-added-sugar
    Cocoa powder, baking type
    Fudgsicles, no sugar added
    Gelatin, sugar-free
    Gum, sugar-free
    James and jellies, sugar-free
    Popsicles, sugar-free
    Syrups, sugar-free
    Whipped topping, light or fat-free - 2 TBS
    Some Sugar Free Products may be made with sugar alcohols (isomalt, lactitol, mannitol, sorbitol or xylitol) and are permitted on the SBD. They may have associated side effects of GI distress (abdominal pain, diarrhea & gas) if consumed in excessive amounts.

    As a side note, I've tried the SF chocolates like reeses pb cups but the side effects I got were just not worth it for me.

  • Does anyone know why there is a calorie limit on the SF sweet stuff? I've read the book but I lent it out to someone and never got it back
  • I believe its because they are empty calories that normally dont have any nutritional value
