I've been watching my weight since I was young. My parents raised me in a family where the food needed to be eaten before someone else did. My mom is naturally thin despite terrible exercise and eating habits, but my sister and father are a sign of what happens if I give up.
I've been "on a diet" for at least ten years. Over time I slowly gave up bad things for me: I don't drink sodas, eat chips, find solace in overly sugary goodness, and eat only whole foods or things that are freshly cooked. I'm a rock climbing, a road biker, a hiker. Yet I am on the heavy end of things from my fellow's perspective, as well as myself.
I have bad joints. It hurts to walk. I know that losing weight will help this, too. The lowest I've been in my battle is 148, but if I slack off a tiny bit - a little extra sugar or no exercise for a couple days, and I'm back on the weight gain train.
I don't know how to combat this. I have the willpower, but even a tiny nudge from the goal and I don't even stabilize - I GAIN weight.
I came here today off of a link evaluating Nutrisystem - thinking it was a good idea and I should create my own version (after hearing first-hand how nasty the food is). I've tried weight watchers but felt ZERO motivation from it after a month, and I have been a regular user of FitDay since it first was put up online.
I hope these forums can help me to figure out a way where I don't have to constantly battle, battle, battle. It would be awesome to be at my ideal BMI and fitness, too.
