Fat Breastfeeding Mama

  • Hi guys. I'm 18 years old (going to be 19 next month) & I weigh 255lbs. I have an 8 month old daugher and she has been exclusively breastfeed and still is on some days. I've been married for three years.

I feel YUCK! My body is just not what it used to be anymore - I mean more then just look-wise! I feel OLD. The weight is catcin up to me physically. AND I hate that every night I don't feel satisfied unless I eat some sweets...

I'm an emotinal eater...I eate when I'm nervous, anxious, depressed, bored, happy...whatever! .... I've been battling depression for awhile now too.

Okay well thats enough about me for now!! Hope to post more soon.
  • Before you can conqueor your weight, you need to sit down and come up with alternatives to emotional eating. If you are near a library, I highly recommend Dr. Phil's Ultimate Weight Loss Solution - not for the diet as much as for the ways he has to deal with these issues.

Eating sweets at night has become a habit it sounds like. You could replace the high-calorie sweets with sugar-free jello for a very low calorie treat that is sweet. I eat fruit when I feel the need for something sweet.

This is a great place to get support and advice. Looks like you've made a good start on losing weight. Keep coming and posting here!
  • Yes, I have skimmed through that book at a friends house. I will definately check it out! Thanks.
  • Temple; I feel for ya. I've got an 11 1/2 month old little girl and I'm back up to the weight I was when I had her. I gained 40 pounds with her and lost all but about 20 of it and then gained it all back. I'm hoping to get to 175 by next summer. So hopefully, I will lose it all.
  • Hey, I was in the same place a few years ago (my girls are 5 and 7 now). I breastfed them both totally for the first year and then beyond, and it seems like I lived on a diet of m&m's and full-strength coke for energy. It is a hard time for you right now, until you get a little more "me" time. All I can think of is try to prepare some healthy snacks ahead of time to get your energy - maybe grapes and bananas and apple slices instead of candy. Can you get in any exercise during nap time? Like a Walk Away the Pounds video or something you can do at home that's not too strenuous starting out? Good luck!
