Red face Who do you recommend for landline phone service in the US?

Hi,

I am looking for some recommendations of landline phone carriers in the USA, what is your experience, good, bad, indifferent?

I have Vonage now, which isn't the greatest service, in my opinion. I pay a low rate for it, but I need my internet connection, which is through Comcast to get the Vonage service, since they connect their phone service over the internet, weird. I have problems where the person on the other end of the phone will say "Are you there, Are you there?" and it's like 'dead air.' I called both Vonage and Comcast the other night, and I am thinking I have to switch phone carriers. Vonage says I have an 'intermittent internet connection' where I am not always connected. Comcast says that they think that happens because I have multiple devices connected through what I call a 'loop' of various wires and that is where my internet signal is having trouble. I am also very upset with Vonage, they called me twice around 1 AM Saturday night!! When I called Vonage back, the representative sounded like she was laughing at me and then said that the sales department are the only individuals who make outbound calls.

I probably won't find a rate quite as low as what I am paying with Vonage but I don't want any more 1 AM phone calls, echoes on my phone and people constantly asking me if I am on the line. I think that AT & T (who is who I have for my cell phone) has landline in this area, also Verizon and Comcast ( I have Comcast for internet and basic TV), I am wondering if I should bundle with AT & T or Comcast.

What are your experiences with these carriers, if any?

I am so frustrated at this point!!

Thank you in advance.
