Default Has anyone done "bootcamp"?

Has anyone done "bootcamp"?

I know it's 5 packets a day with no restricted items.

1. Has anyone done it with restricted items?
2. How long did you do it?
3. Pros?
4. Cons?

Thanks!

In general I would say not worth it. It is risky to make ip harder than it is. If you get too hungry you can do things you don't expect. Plus, the difference in calories and/or weight loss are minimal.

Maybe read the thread about losing slowly and work on changing the attitude toward weight loss? We can make ourselves sick trying to do things too fast. We can mess up hormonal or endocrine systems.

Everyone is different. I did it for 1 week and I went up 2 lbs., but I was stalled for a month with no weight loss. The next week I dropped 4 - so it was worth it. No restricted - no added protien just your 5 Packages and your daily veggies.

I'm actually starting day 5 of boot camp following the IP protocol which means no restricted items and 4 to 5 packets per day. I generally do it for about 5 days at a time, but I know many do it for 2 to 3 days to just get the scale moving again. This is my second time doing it and I've had great success both times. The first time I did it because the scale had slowed to a crawl. This time I'm doing it because I fell off the wagon big time and I needed to get back on and it's working really well. As for the pros it really gets me back on track and into a deep ketosis, and the scale really moves down for me too. As for the cons, well I really can't think of any because I always feel fine and I lose a lot of weight.

It is also pretty easy to do when you are an empty nest'er and you and your SO work crazy hours where you don't eat a meal together anyway except for the weekends. I imagine it would be a bit challenging if you had to fix meals for the rest of the family at the same time.

It's probably worth pointing out that Dana and Fishette (I believe) are both on maintenance, while the OP seems to have just started her IP journey. As I have understood it, "Bootcamp" is really meant for people who 1) have experienced a stall in losses over several weeks as a means of "restarting" weight loss, or 2) are in maintenance and may have fallen off the wagon and need a kickstart. It's not something you do just to try and improve your losses.

The thing to remember about Phase 1, is that it is the result of 25 years of research and results. It's not one of those diets you can "game" to get faster results. If you follow your sheet, no cheats, you will see results as quickly as your body can give them to you.

I'm still in P1 and just finished my 2nd round of bootcamp. Both times I had 'stalled' (for me = no loss for at least 2 weeks). The first time I followed the BC protocol to a T (4 days) and it did get the scale moving again. This time (also 4 days) it doesn't appear to have helped at all (but I also ate turnips for 3 days during it - known to make some retain water). This morning is my official WI, so will know soon. I do not recommend doing it to try to speed things up when you new to IP and are continuously losing. There are going to be times when your losses naturally slow down, and you may even gain a bit now and then. This is all completely normal! Follow the sheet, and hang out here on 3FC every day - you will do great!

Actually I'm not in maintenance yet, just having a difficult time getting off those last 20 pounds. I used boot camp the first time after being on IP for awhile and my weight was really slowing down and boot camp helped. This time I'm doing it because I fell off the wagon big time and really needed a kick start. Boot camp once again has been very successful in helping me get off the weight I gained and get me back on track.

Boot camp is only to be used for very specific reasons such as I have mentioned above. IP is already a low calorie diet and there isn't any reason to make it "go faster."

I've recently complete 3 days of boot camp. I did this because I've been dieting since April of this year, and have pretty much stalled in the past month. I needed to do something to shake up my system and get weight loss going again. It did work - on Wednesday's WI I lost 2.5lbs. But as others have cautionned here, it's not meant to be used in the early stages of Phase 1 when just following the program 100% should bring the required weight loss.

I had slowed in my loss, most likely because I was close to goal and I was switched to 4 packets per day, no restricted and that got my weight down. I only had a 5th packet if I worked out.

My loss wasn't extremely fast, it just gave me a boost. I was definitely more hungry when I was doing it this way.
