Question How many calories are in a vanilla latte, anyway?

Vanilla lattes are one of those things that I love too much to give up, although I have cut back from making them a daily habit like I did in college. I have the Starbucks app on my iPhone - it's handy for looking up locations and such; but more importantly, you can create your drink with all the customizations and then check the nutritional info when you're done.

So, to the meat of my question: My standard drink is a grande nonfat vanilla latte. (I.e.: 2 shots espresso, skim milk/foam, and some regular vanilla syrup.) I've looked up the nutritional info on this drink in multiple places, and the calorie values are ALL over the place!

Starbucks iPhone app (screenshot: http://cl.ly/fc2474ca3a83fff4ebea): 130 calories

Starbucks.com nutritional info (http://www.starbucks.com/menu/catalo...drink=espresso, nonfat milk option, "flavored latte"): 200 calories

DailyPlate (http://www.livestrong.com/thedailypl...h-nonfat-milk/): 230 calories

PeerTrainer (http://www.peertrainer.com/DFcalorie...B.aspx?id=8287): 230 calories

SparkPeople (http://www.sparkpeople.com/calories-...+vanilla+latte, click the "grande - 16oz" full nutritional info link in the right column): 200 calories

... etc.

So yeah. What's up with that?? Who do I trust? Even Starbucks itself is inconsistent depending on my source. Any thoughts on this are much appreciated.

I would go with the Starbucks website even over the app. 200 calories sounds more accurate. Those syrups pack quite a punch (Love them, though!).

A grande "skinny" vanilla latte is 130 calories. That's the one with SF syrup and skim milk. Because yours has the regular syrup instead of sugar free, 200 calories sounds about right.

Thanks for the feedback. I agree that 130 sounded way too low. I've started counting them at 200 calories instead... it's probably pretty close to accurate, if not spot-on.

I go by the starbucks website too.

I have one of those phone aps, and it seems to not have as many options so the drink listings are fairly generic.

I don't personally trust dailyplate and the like all that much. I use them as a guide only.
