Default Water Water Everywhere

I hope it is ok that I am starting this thread.

I have issues getting in my water. I would like to hold myself accountable.
My goal is atleast 80 glasses of clear h2o a day. Anyone else want to join me in a water challenge. We can add our water amounts to this thread daily. Like we do the spring challenge/exercise challenge.

I hope you mean 80 ounces...

My goal this week is to get more water. More than none should be pretty easy.

hopefully you either meant 8 glasses.....or 80 oz...lol 80 glasses is A LOT!! Unless they're small glasses of course

I'm the same way....a few weeks ago I looked back on my daily food journal and realized there were days when I wasn't even drinking one drip of water! Since I realized that I've made sure to drink AT LEAST 64 oz...sometimes more. I made that my challenge for the Spring Challenge up top in the stickys. So far...yesterday was my only off day.

It made my weight loss better the last two weeks (that's what I'm claimin' anyway). And it makes me feel good to see a lot less diet soda, crystal lite and coffee on my daily food journal.

Question - Why clear water? Everything I have heard from "medical experts" says that all water intake counts... even that in foods and drinks like tea.

Just wondering.

Hi Tammie, I hope you mean 80oz rather than 80 glasses!
Water definitely helps but I find if I get 32oz water/day, plus watever coffee, tea, milk, etc. I drink, I am plenty hydrated and my skin looks and feels great and my sinus issues clear up. I like water, but guzzling a lot of it makes me feel sick and sloshy. Of course if I'm thirsty or it's really hot, I can drink more.

Not to discourage your challenge! I do track my 4 glasses every day to make sure I get it in. And if 80 oz works for you, that's great! Just wanted to throw out there that if it's really difficult for you to drink that much, it may not be necessary.

Good luck, Tammie!

I agree with Schmoodle. You can count any liquid as your "water" for the day, and even some foods have enough water in them to count.
It still is a good idea to drink as much water as you want, though. It's very important to keep your body hydrated.

I think for weight loss counting only the water from actual glasses of water is important because water helps flush you out and keep your cells hydrated and ready for workouts. If you eat a watermelon say, sure it's got a lot of water in it, but it's also got a lot of sugar also.

Just my two cents- I find when I am good with my water intake the pounds come off easier as well

I think there are a plethora of threads on this (Laurie I know has answered this) but I believe that when you mix things with water, like Crystal Light say, it changes the chemical make-up of the water and your body doesn't process it like plain water.

I dunno. My pee turns clear no matter what I drink, as long as I am drinking a lot of it!

I just chugged 16 oz of water towards my 64 oz for the day. Off to shovel.

I am great drinking enough water when I am at home, but when I'm at work, it's a challenge. I find myself plugging along for a few hours when I realize that I need more water! Part of the problem is that we only have small dixie cups for drinking AND I have to leave the office (but not the building) to use the restroom. That makes alot of time running back and forth. I've tried bringing a larger glass to the office, but still don't seem to fill it as much as I should. Any suggestions?

I meant 80 ounces and I meant that only I wanted to do the 80 ounces. I din't mean everyone else could choose their own amount of water. I chose clear water because I like to drink other things like coffee and soda. I decided I wanted to try and get in more clear liquid water just for me. I didn't mean everyone else had to do only clear water. I am sorry I didn't mean to start a debate. I was just looking for a place to track my water.

I have 4 plastic bottles each 20 ounces a piece. I try to fill them each morning.

I don't drink much water at all. That is why I decided that I need to drink my water.

I chose 80 ounces because it is 2 glasses more than the normal recommended 64 and I have lot of problems with being backed up. So increasing my water would help wiht that problem. I eat tons of beans and get plenty of fiber but still stopped up.

Tammie, Tom was told at some health and wellness briefing that you're supposed to drink, in ounces, what half of your body weight (in pounds) is a day. I don't know if that was for men only, but it's a guide.

I have been told that too from somewhere. That would 108 ounces a day. That sounds a lot worse than 80 ounces. LOL Although it is only one more 2 ounce bottle and one glass it seems like a lot more. I think I will stick with the 80 ounces for now.

LOL Tammie!!!! I'd be up there too. NO WAY.

No debate -- people always tend to wonder about clear water anyway. You sparked discussion. YAY

Jenn, You look cold!

Tammie, I agree with Jenn... There was no debate, just discussion.

For the record, I've had 40 oz so far today. Hey, that's 40 oz more than yesterday! WooHoo!
