Default Costco point question

Good morning everyone,

My local Costco (Montreal/Quebec/Canada) has ready-made family-size meals that you just heat and serve. I find them at the end of the meat counters. They have an amazing Shepherd's Pie that DH and I love but since being back on WW, points are definitely an issue for me.

Any idea what the points would be for 1 serving? The platter probably has 8 servings in it, if not more.

Thanks for any help.

In the US they have to put the nutrition info on the packaging it is on the bottom and it should have all the info you need to figure it out. According to the nutrition website for UCLA a average serving of shephards pie has 398 calories and 23 grams of fat. I too love shephards pie I thing it would be better to get a recipie and switch out some ingreedients for others to make it more WW friendly

Ms Dixie -- you need to look at the package information. It will tell you how many servings there are per package. It will tell you the calories, fat, and fiber per serving. Plug these into your WW points calculator, and you'll have the answer! Other than that, any response you'll get will be just a guess. So you'll have to get the actual dietary info to be certain re: serving size and nutritional composition.

Thanks for all your responses. I always check food labels (couldn't live without them LOL). But these meals are prepared in their kitchens on site. The labels only indicate ingredients and cooking instructions.

I will try to email Costco directly for more info.

Thanks again!

Hi there, ms dixie. I did a websearch and found lots of US info, but nothing about Shepherd's Pie. Sorry about that! And I am sure that you know how to use the points calculator, and I think on reading my post that I assumed that you didn't. And I feel kind of bad about this!
sorry!

Hi there, ms kiramira, don't worry about that! I did email Costco Canada and I'm waiting for their response. Once I get the numbers, I'll be able to figure out the points. I'd pick one up every time I went there. It was such a no-brainer supper for me and we both love it. It's been sitting in my freezer ever since I started back on WW in March and I've been too afraid to defrost it LOL. DH asked for it so it's on the menu for tonight.

FYI - I checked in my WW Complete Food Guide and homemade shepherd's pie is 9 points per cup. I passed on it last night. It's probably something I would consider on the weekend when I allow myself a few extra points out of my 35 weeklies.
Nice day everyone!
