Unhappy Gained 2 lbs and worried!!!

Hi everyone! I am currently going through my 6 mos pre surgery period. I am hoping to have gastric bypass when this is all said and approved (hopefully).
I am scheduled for my second appointment on the 14th and I have gained 2lbs. I am worried that if I go in with that extra 2lbs, the dr might tell me to forget surgery because I gained a little.

I am so scared right now about this gain. I have researched and thought about GBS since 2003. I have never been thin and I don't even have an idea what to expect when I start losing. Sorry all, I jsut have so many different thoughts that my head is spinning.

I'm guessing the 14th of April right? So that 2lb it could just be water weight right? In any case, you have 12 days to lose it and thats nearly two weeks. I'm sure other people can tell you all about GBS but i thought i'd just reasure you that you can lose it. Good luck with your appointment and don't get too worried!

jiggly - RELAX. BREATHE. yes - it's possible - even likely - that you'll lose the weight before the visit. but the REAL reasons for this 6-month period don't involve you hitting certain numbers. first, this is a hoop to jump through to show that you can STICK WITH SOMETHING for a while. the other reason is to show that, even though you're sticking with the plan, it's not working all that well.

think about it this way - WLS is a last resort, and those of us who have gained and lost and gained and lost for years, and who can SHOW that nothing has worked over the long haul, are the appropriate candidates. now, if someone on a 6-month diet loses, say, 50% of their excess weight, frankly, they've just demonstrated that they CAN lose significant amounts of weight. [can they keep it off?? that's a different question!]

but if a person shows that they STUCK WITH IT and lost only a little, that's a different story - soooo, just keep on plugging along - make sure you're following the plan, and things will be fine!!

honest!

The doctor that did my 6 month pre-surgery supervised diet was relieved I lost some weight the first month and not surpised when I when I gained a bit the second. He said that I could follow directions, that is what was important...if I maintained around the first weigh in number, he would be happy...like Jif said, it's about showing that you CAN follow direction. Something you will need to be able to do after surgery!

Good luck honey and don't worry, just do what the doctor said to do.

Thank you ladies. You've put my mind at ease. I, like so many of us, have always been dieting, losing, and gaining back. I think I just panicked with the other things going on right now. I didn't figure in that I'm going to have my friendly "visitor" soon either. No wonder they make have a psych eval!!! lol

Yes Breath and relax. You are doing fine its a hoop to make sure you can follow the directions. I had the same thing happen to me and doctor just teased me and then next month I was down a couple of lbs. Just document you eating habits and exercise and it proves you are doing what you are suppose to! Hang in there and relax.
