Default Got Bread?

Need some ideas on low calorie bread that is delicious. And, also, if you could tell me what stores carry it.

Thanks.

your best bet is to hit the supermarket w/ your points finder, and calculate all breads that look interesting. Basically, you're looking for any bread w/ more than 3 grams of fiber per serving. those will likely come out to be 1 point per slice. There are some that work out to be 2 slices for 1 point (wonder lite). Good luck.

My longtime favorite is Orowheat, the light wheat kind. (They make 2 others, but our stores don't carry them.) It's a national brand, so you should be able to find it almost anywhere. It's 2 slices for 1 point, but it's heavier than most light breads.

On the east coast we can get Manischewitz Lite Rye bread which points out to 2 slices for one point. Local King Kullen and Waldbaum stores carry a version of this bread under their own label or under *America* label. I think it's fabulous and delicious.
Hope you can find some.

In SE Wisconsin, we have Village Hearth which makes 3 light breads that I know of. They have 12 Grain, Wheat, and Italian. They also have a 1 point hamburger bun.
I also buy Natural Ovens of Manitowoc breads. Most of them are 5 grams of fiber. You can buy these online at http://www.naturalovens.com. My favorites are the Mild Rye and the Sunny Millet. They also make delicious bagels. I still follow the old point system where you can count more than 4 grams of fiber, so both of these breads for me are 2 slices for 1 point. Both of these brands of bread are lifesavers for me! Hope you can find something similar.

What's your definition of delicious? AND low calorie? very few commercially made breads are more than 1 point per slice. Some do weigh in at 2 points, but it's rare. Most commercial breads range from 60 to 100 calories a slice. This is one point per slice or at most 2, but 1 if high in fiber and low in fat.

Some of us swear by Wonder lite because 2 slices is 1 point; but some of us think it's the equivalent of square sawdust. GO TO YOUR SUPERMARKET, read labels, and take some chances!

There is a huge guesswork element to the plan, and additionally, the program wants you to find things that satisfy YOU and your tastebuds... give it a shot! :-)

I found a great reduced calorie bread at the Stop and Shop supermarkets. It is their own brand of lite rye bread which comes either seeded or unseeded. Very hearty and filling slices for only 40 calories per slice - 2 slices = 1 point. I used to always use the Beefsteak lite rye, but the S&S brand is much more filling.

I'm new to this, but I buy Natural Ovens of Manitowoc bread in the organic section of the grocery store. The whole wheat has 60 calories per slice and 5 grams of fiber (yummy!). They also have bagels, hamburger buns, cinnamon bread, etc. I don't know the points on this (yet, I start WW tomorrow!), but I'm guessing it would be pretty low.
