  • Quote: Winding down my month vacation at the beach. Managed to stay 100% OP. Some days have been a challenge with so much company all month and eating out. I want to continue this IP journey until mid May. Will be traveling most of April for a road trip out west. Hopefully my motivation continues. Dreading New Mexico and having to pass on having margaritas. I know if I go off plan I will say the heck with it until I get home. I want to phase off correctly this time and that doesn't include margaritas. I will be hosting Easter dinner so I will be able to control the menu. Wish me luck to stay 100% OP until Mid May.
Wow. Good job! We are going to Mexico in December and I'm not sure I will be as strong as you. I'm hoping to be in phase 4 by then and maybe a cheat week followed by phase 1.
  • Out of the 180s and halfway to goal!!! Also hit 10%! Happy Friday!!!
  • Simplchaos -- 1/2 pound a day loss is not a "stall." Going several weeks without weight loss and without a reduction in body fat percentage is a stall. Your expectations are unrealistic. You need to quit weighing every day if 1/2 pound of weight loss is discouraging. Most of the weight lost during the first week is simply water weight. Calm down, follow the protocol and you will lose as much fat as your body is supposed to shed. Your losses will slow down significantly and you need to be prepared for that. But the good news is that the program works -- and you've already made it past some of the most challenging days.

A half pound a day I'd be happy with. I've lost 1/2 pound TOTAL. I know losing anything is always better than gaining. My concern is, now that I've lost that initial water weight my progress over the last few days has slowed tremendously and on top of that (and my bigger concern) I'm not showing any signs of ketosis. Without ketosis, I won't be able to continue to lose.

A half lb total since when? I'm going to second tithe suggestion to stop weighing yourself so much. It appears to be causing stress. Cortisol, a stress hormone can slow weight loss.

    Re: Ketosis.
It honestly isn't some magical thing that causes weight loss. It is evpntirely possible to eat a ketogenic diet and maintain (or even gain!). Ketosis is merely a tool and it sure helps with (true) hunger suppression.

The success of IP is the calorie reduction. I'm not sure how long you've been on ip (6 days? Pleasure stop complaining and enjoy the ride! It works but it isn't magic).

Some people get more Ketosis signs than others. If you've followed the plan for about a week, you're in Ketosis so relax.

If you're followin IP to a T, there is no reason to track macros. It actually sounds like you're driving yourself crazy with all of this. How long did it take you to gain the weight you're trying to lose? Give it a bit of time.
