just got back from my sprint interval training. i was listening to a podcast that talked about how its more efficient for fat loss, if you push yourself during a sprint, then recover (rest) till you're ready to sprint again. and to do that for only 40 mins. anymore than that and you start to release stress hormones (apparently) and they talked about the difference between a sprint runner and a marathon runner (good visual!).
so today was my first day. and i feel good about it.
i pushed myself for a sprint and my HR was at 90% of my maximum HR. then i recovered till 68% of my max HR, and sprinted again. the time did go faster and i felt i was able to push myself hard, because i recovered in between. i only did it for 40 mins though (with 5 mins in the beginning of walking to warm up), and then walked an additional 17 mins to cool down.
i'm going to monitor my progress and push myself that bit more each time i do this interval sprint training. next time, try to burn at least 1 more calorie during the 40 mins. and keep progressing.
summary:
40 mins of sprint training. burned 348 calories. average HR was 76%, maximum HR was 94%.
plus 17 mins of extra cool down walking (burned 113 calories) (64% avg HR, 72% max HR).
total calories burned 461 calories. total time - 57 mins.
i feel great and now going to hit the shower and also not going to eat any carbs within 2 hours of my exercise to maximise fat loss.

so nice of you!
way to go!!!!
