  • Good Morning, Good Friday and a Happy Easter, to all. Got my lazy butt up and hit the exercising again this morning. Something about this time change still has me sluggish. Normally I love DST but not adjusting well this time.

Okay Ladies, everyone should report on Monday how much Easter candy they let slip though their lips. Maybe a little mini challenge is in store here.

Gotta run, have a great day.
  • I sure hope I can aviod the Easter Candy. Carbs are going to be everywhere! Goal is to not go hog wild!
Extra incentive...I weighed in at 191.5 this morning, down 5lbs!
And, I'm not starving. Just those afternoon cravings still knocking at my door.
    Happy Easter!
  • SEMO- what a great idea, that will keep me honest, knowing I'll have to report in on Monday. Down with Easter candy! No, not down the hatch, LOL.

Tig - I can see why your motivation is at a high! Keep up the good work!

Sad news about Mr. Atkins death at 73. He worked so hard to be healthy - then fell on an icy sidewalk and bashed his head only to die a few weeks later. The irony.

Jello- Wake up girl, it's Friday!

edited to say: Maybe Jello took today off? Maybe everybody took the day off? Hello - O- o.
  • Hello - I'm here - seems we hardly ever get any extra time off - I did give my girls the afternoon off so I'll have to hold down the fort and take the non-existant phone calls this afternoon.

It has turned cold and rainy once again. Gee, I hate this weather!
Guess I'll get another reprieve from yard work and it does get rid of the pollen so it isn't all bad.

I gave my husband some money - told him to buy whatever Easter candy he wanted and to hide it - any I found would be trashed immediately. We'll see how that works. I more dread the after Easter sales - it seems like such a waste not to buy the jelly beans for 50 cents to say nothing of the marshmallow peeps. Then it all goes to waist if I do buy it.

I hope you all have a Happy Easter - keep the faith and just say "NO!" to the sugary treats.

Tig: Congrats on the loss....good for you!!

Cafe: I think you are a sweetheart too....this whole group is just one big admiration society and I love it...I have seen where other threads have had issues and I am glad we are all mature and also sensitive enough to each other so that we all get to say what we need and then have the common sense to know when to edit our comments. I don't what I would do without you all...it's so nice to belong to this thread

Quilter: Yeah...what is up with the weather? The other day it was 86 in the afternoon and 3 hours later it was 40...no wonder that we all are getting sick!

Jello: My downfall has always been those really cheap chocolate covered marshmallow twisty things...but this year it's just DH and my sister so I don't think we are having any candy at all. I am also making a fat free-sugar free pumpkin pie for dessert with Splenda and Fat-Free evaporated milk that I made on Thanksgiving and I swear to God did not taste any different than the real kind...try it!!

Huntress, Brighter: What's up chickies for Easter??

Semo: You inspire me every day with your enthusiasm and committment.

    HAPPY EASTER TO EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Happy Easter/Holy Saturday to all!

I'm preparing for the Easter Dinner tomorrow by bringing low fat dip/veggies, low fat dip/fruit to my family's celebration. Hoping to avoid all the little chocolate things but it will be tough! Supposed to rain and there is nothing to do but sit and talk and eat on those afternoons! We are having lots of hi points foods but I have resigned myself to only one spoonful of anything hi point. Wish me luck!---my mom's potato salad is to die for!

Weighed in last week at 3# down and this week at 1# back up (of those 3 down) Not sure what that meant but I think the 3# down was when I was so sick. Need to start walking like DNW and exercising like SEMO and get in the groove. Couldn't do my lunch workout for 3 weeks during boss's absence. No excuses now that she's back! Still doing the tanning thing---getting more used to it now and can see some results....

Congrats, Tiger, on the # down! Makes a little jumpstart in your program, doesn't it? I think I dropped too on Atkins during the first part but I had digestion problems with the fat. Too many years on low fat diets, I guess. Good luck on your journey!

Huntress: How's it going, girl? Hope you have a nice Easter!

Cafe: What a nice thing to find out with your payments! Kinda a bonus at this time of year!

Happy Easter to all! Going shopping today and trying on a few clothes. Nice to be able to fit in a smaller size these days but I still have at least 40# to go by Feb. '04 (to hit my ideal wt.). Thinking about some springy colored tops....my friend says I'm a "spring" (in the 'color me beautiful' way of figuring out what looks good on you--clothes wise) Might look for some of those colors today.

    Take care all,

    "Bright"
  • Good Morning Ladies,

I hope you all had a nice weekend and a Happy Easter!

Congrats to all of you who lost #'s this week and also to those of you who managed to forgo all the Easter candy and holiday foods. My long weekend sure did go by fast and now it's Monday again and time to go back to work.

Hope you all have a great day!

    LJ
  • Good morning ladies, work begins in ernest today on losing 10 by Memorial Day. Had a Cadbury Carmel egg yesterday - I did figure it into my eating plan and it was worth all the points. Good thing there was only 1!

We're all fogged in this morning. Heard the fog horn in the night so I guess the ferry won't be running until later this morning. Hopefully we'll hit 70 today but then its back to being colder again.

Kroger now has an aisle devoted to low carb! I don't do it but I do use some of those products.

Just got a thing in the mail from WW - they are celebrating their 40th anniversary this year - which means I've been a member 32 of those years! If it hadn't of been for them I'd either weigh 500 pounds by now or be dead.

    Have a good, low-calorie day!
  • Happy Monday! Not! One thing about long weekends is I get spoiled. Then it's even tougher to come in here again. Ah well. At least boss man is gone until Friday. Now if only the old *itch will leave me alone....

Hey, I did great over the weekend regarding Easter candy and food. Ate reasonably well at the family gathering and even managed to keep the munchies and snack stuff at the other end of the table. Even went outside in the sunshine and chased my 4 year old nephew around for a while. Ah, the ambition of youth.

Hope you all had a great one! Now I guess it's back to reality. Thursday is National Bring Your Child to Work Day and our company is sponsoring a plant tour and some events, etc. for some of the employees' kids. I'm in charge of making "official" certificates and fancy name tags for the kids. That should keep me out of trouble for a while. Friday's our quarterly luncheon and I somehow got nominated to pick up the cookies from the bakery for dessert. Already trying to psych myself up to just get in and get out and not inhale any bakery scents. Going to be a challenge.

This is the week that the Curves that's opening next Monday is supposed to call me to set up an initial appointment. I hope they call soon. I'm really looking forward to this!!

    Huh? Who said that?

OK, time for a survey ... that is if any of you care at all. Ah heck, humor me. Saw my sister over the weekend and she'd just had blond highlights put in her hair. It looks wonderful! Now I want to do it too!!! I'd been thinking about red highlights but never had the nerve. Now I'm thinking about blond ones. I'm going to Connecticut in May and am thinking of scheduling the appt. for the day after we get back before I go back to work. So that gives me until May 20 to decide if I should do this and what color etc. I'm so totally bored with my hair! What should I do?

'Nuff about me. Sorry. Just looking for input.

Now back to work..... For a little while anyway....
  • Hello, ladies!

    It's Monday again.

Bright - down 2 overall - I'd call it good! I too volunteered to bring the VEGGIES to a wedding shower this weekend, too. Figured I'd better make something that wasn't going to pull me down just having it in the house. So how did the shopping go?

DNW - that SF/FF pumpkin pie sounds good! Good reminder that it's not so hard to alter our normal recipes.

Huntress - Long weekend, normal weekend, they all go too fast. So are you going walking this week?

Quilter - WTG working that treat into your plan! Sometimes it can be hard to count these things, but it's such a good feeling when you do! (Look mom, I'm still on plan! LOL!)

Confession: I ate way too many calories on Sunday. Not because of holiday food, but because a box of doughnuts somehow entered my house.

They won't be bothering us anymore.

However, looking back on the week as a whole, I took 5 walks and had more OP days than not. For the most part, I cooked at home and I stuck to the food I'd packed when I was at work. So overall it was a good week. On the other hand, I want to make this week even better!

OK, distractions galore - I'm going to go see who posted while the window was open...
  • OK, just to clarify, DH ate more doughnuts than I did (Just realized it sounds like I ate the whole box, LOL! Not true. Although slightly under half is bad enough.)

Also, Hi Jello! Way to go sticking to your guns this weekend! You're inspiring me. No white and green boxes shall pass my front door again until the leaves fall off the trees.

Re: highlights, Go for it! Well, that's what I think. It's only hair. If you get tired of them, you can always use a color conditioner after shampooing to tone them back down. Caveat: if you're like me and _think_ you're going to keep up with a hair style but in reality only get around to getting it done about once a year, remember that you will be able to see when they grow out, LOL. Eventually you will have to get more highlights or tint the whole thing back to "normal" just so you don't look odd with 3 inches of roots. But that's not so hard, is it?

    OK, back to workie.
  • Good Morning All. Had a good weekend, nothing special, just nice to be home. I didn’t eat any real candy, however I did eat an Atkins bar on Sunday. Son’s girlfriend, brought us a goody bag full of candy, but I stayed out of it. Hard though. DH pulled a cap off his tooth while eating a Jelly Belly jellybean, which was in the bag and one of my all time favorites. I still have all of my caps, there is a little reward every now and then for being good.

My sister is having back surgery on Wednesday, the 30th and she will be coming home with me to recuperate. Her husband works construction and never knows where he will be and I can be home in 10 minutes and will be able to take her lunch at noon. So for the next month or so, (praying that she heels quickly) I’m going to be nursing her back to health. This is the same sister that is ready to BOLT, so she may never want to go home.

Don't know what's wrong with me lately, but I am so tired, just want to sleep and sleep and sleep. Think I must be low on iron or something. Been taking my vitamins, so I'm not sure why I feel this way. I have cut out the caffeine, but I was only drinking a small amout of reg coffee to start with?

Well nothing much to report, DH and I are trying to decide were we are going on vacation this year. It’s been so long since we have had a vacation with just the two of us that we can’t decide. Youngest son and his girlfriend were disappointed yesterday when we told them they couldn’t go. MY Goodness, how old do your kids have to be, to get away a week without them. Can you tell that I've spent my entire life spoiling my family!

Jello, go for the new "DO" you can always re-color if you don't like it.

Well, back to the salt mines. Have a good day.
  • *head hung low* Didn't do too good yesterday...or the rest of the weekend either. And, to make matters worse, I trashed this morning with a peanut butter egg. But, I'm gonna live. My head is back on straight.

Jello, I get highlights. It camoflauges my greys . It's also a nice spring time pick-me-up. You should go for it.

Quilter, my local grocery is a Kroger. Haven't noticed a low-carb isle....hope it's coming! For now, I've noticed most of the things I can eat are located on the perimeter of the store. Evil lurks in the isles.

I've got a lot of housework to do today. You ever think if someone came to the door, you wouldn't answer cuz your house is such a mess? Yep, that's me today. Nobody home.
  • Hey all,

Shopping was good....lots of springy tops at sale prices, Cafe. I did good!

Watching American Idol.....I'm hooked! I'll check in with all later. Had a pretty good weekend....stayed mostly low cal with a few splurges.

    Take care,

    "Bright"
  • OK then. Today I call my hairdresser and make the appointment for May 20. That means I have plenty of time to decide what I want ... and plenty of time to chicken out.

Hm, and I'm thinking maybe a new body to go with the new hairdo???? Well, at least the start of a new body anyway. Yeah, yeah. I want to lose 30 pounds by May 20. What do you think? Can do?

Brighter, springy tops at sale prices!?!? Where!? I desperately need to buy some spring and summer stuff. I figure I can get away with wearing the same 5 or 6 pairs of light weight pants and/or skirts if I can find lots of tops to interchange them with. Couple weeks ago, I rediscovered Lane Bryant. Nice stuff but kind of expensive.

Tiger, pick that head up girl! We all understand how the peanut butter eggs work. They sneak up on us and overpower us when we're vulnerable. At least that's how it works with me. But Easter's over and it's a new day. Plenty of time for us to prepare for picnic and cook out party season.

Semo, what an angel you are! Taking care of your sister like that is so great! My sister and I would probably kill each other within the first hour. I mean, I love her and all but we're too really really different people. (Especially the fact that she can eat anything and everything and not gain an ounce! Yeah, that's fair. Grumble.)

Cafe, so what's so wrong with eating a whole box of doughnuts??? Oops, I mean, I would never ever do such a thing!!!

    Momentary pause.....

Hey! I just got a phone call!!! From the new Curves that's opening next Monday!!!! Wooo Hoooo!!!! I'm set up for an orientation appointment next Monday at 5:30!! I'm so psyched!!! Maybe I will have that new hair/new body combination!

Quilter, what low-carb products do you use? There's a local health food store here with lots of Atkins products and other low-carb stuff. They just introduced a low-carb pasta but I'm afraid to try it. Low carb pasta? I just can't imagine.

I have to run now. The guy on the phone told me they'd be questioning me about my goals and asking my thoughts, etc. Hm, I guess I'd better HAVE some thoughts! Have I mentioned that I'm psyched about this?

    Talk to you all later!
