  • vickie, i just now saw your question. curtis' plane landed at 4:32 pm mountain time. i got him a big sunburst balloon. i decided to set it up in the kitchen. it was too big for me to handle at the airport.

ouch, rhonda! i'll bet you're sore. that had to hurt--and scare you, too. thank goodness you didn't break anything. i'm glad your mil was in better spirits. i watched several movies this week while scrapbooking. i don't concentrate on them very well while doing that, but i like the company they gave me.

vickie, i have had popcorn every night since tuesday. i told curtis that it's my treat. i'm still doing great even though today was a little off kilter at times. i had about 3-4 hours between eating this afternoon. i was really hungry. i remember bry saying that if i get hungry, i've waited too late. keep that metabolism going by keeping it fueled.

patti, i checked out the site and copied some exercises. i'm heading back in a bit to see what else i can find. thanks for giving us the heads up on it. earlier i meant to tell you that your "deleted" post wasn't preachy at all. that's the kind of info we're all looking for.

we had another archery friend on the same flight. his wife and i met the guys at the exit when they came out. (good thing i wore clothes. ) curtis and i made quite a scene with a long hug and kiss. we've decided no more of this being apart. we don't like it.
  • Good Morning Chicks! I can't stay long because I have a million things to do today before I go to the party. TOM arrived 11 days late. Welcome to perimenopause. Harmpf!

Well, I sure wish I had seen that "preachy" post, Patti! I sure could use some preaching! Actually, I'm doing fine but reinforcements are always good. I had no idea you weren't doing Core. So much for assuming huh?! I'm glad I asked what you were doing. I watch Dr. Oz all the time but did not get the book when he introduced it. It seems to be quite a lot like Core and I remember thinking that if I would just follow Core instead of making excuses it would be so much more successful. If it's not real expensive, maybe I'll buy the book for myself. I'm not sure I want to see the really graphic stuff though. Sometimes when I get too scared I just eat....even though I know the weight can kill me.

Sandra, I think keeping yourself satisfied is going to be VERY successful. I just have to be careful with my portions. Once I get started I have a bit of a hard time stopping. Jim and I do not do separate trips so I understand exactly how you feel!

Rhonda, I'm glad your fears about your MIL didn't come to pass. Alzheimer's patients can be very unpredictable. I hope your hip is feeling much better today.

Coco, thanks for the link. I'm going to check them out!

Today it is going to be sunny and 55 degrees here in Chicagoland! I can hardly wait. What a glorius day to be on the road to go and see great friends that we don't see very often. I will have NO control over the food and these people do not eat healthy at all. I'll just have to pray for shrimp cocktail and do the best I can. One meal will not ruin my plan.

    Have a great day everyone!
  • Morning all:

Vickie, when I came to the boards, the post that was up said that you had posted today, but on last week's thread. So, if you thought you said "hello" to us this morning, you didn't.

I don't have a thing to say, except we're glad Curtis is home for Sandra!

We're going out to a local place for breakfast and then I'm spending the day doing some painting around here to help DH out and to keep me from mayhem since these projects take too long for me!

    BBL

    Rhonda
  • There's Vickie's post...wonder what happened...

my hip is OK this morning....
  • I responded to a newbie who posted on last week's thread. So you aren't seeing things Rhonda.

I wish I was going out to breakfast but I wouldn't want to do the painting later!
  • Froufie is back in Florida
    Hi Chickies,!

No time to read posts but I am back and had a fantastic time on my cruise! So much fun - I am exhausted as I stayed up late every night and let's not even talk about the vibrations and rattling in my cabin! I even have a bit of a suntan.

Hope everyone is fine and well - I am now in the Miami airport heading for Tampa to see Wicked.

Vickie - hope the good Chicago weather holds out as I am coming thru there tomorrow - If I get stuck I will let you know!

Will post more when I get home!

    Missed you all lots!

    Frouf
  • Wow the sun is shining. Its not raining. But it is a little cooler than yesterday. A slight breeze. But the sun feels wonderful.

P.A. Thanks for the info on the book. I will be going to WalMart tomorrow. So may see if they have it. I like Dr Oz.

TEJAS Hope your hip is feeling better. Take it easy today.

FROUFY MISSED YOU. Glad you had a wonderful time.

VICKIE I really like the pretzels. And are satisfying. But I might have to watch them. Or as soon as I get them. Measure them out. And then put them out of sight. Now what you are talking about with the "TOM". I just wish the cramping would stop. And the headaches. One of these days. And then I cant wait.

ONTARGET Glad Curtis made it home safely. And that you enjoyed your reunion. That is great.

Well I am going to get off here for now. Will be back later.
Hope everyone has a wonderful day.

  • Ok frouf..what was rattling and vibrating you your room....enquiring minds want to know......haha I cant believe your trip is over already. Hurry back to tell us all about it!! I hope you get to meet Vickie,,!!Enjoy your show.
Sandra, Im glad you went to the site. I find alot of info on it.
Vickie,,did the drs on tv have any *body parts* to show? Ive noticed they do this...but before they show them they warn people. If he picks up a pair of gloves...look away if your squeemish.

Tips I use: (dont mean this to sound preachy)
-eat the same thing for breakfast and if you can lunch too...every day-
you dont have to think about what your going to eat each day. much simpler
sounds boring but you get used to it

-Measure your waist not your weight.- I still have a hard time with this one..im still a scale addict but I do measure my waist each week. 32.5 inches or less is the ideal for women.

-dont eat red meat or as people call it--no four legged animals

-walk walk walk 30 mins EVERY day. no excuses

-tell someone after you walk- be accountable

-stay satisfied- eat every 3 hours till 8pm then no more eating...your body needs to go into a naturel fasting state for the next 8 hours. If you eat before bed your stomach is working overtime and very hard on your heart.
    (this one scared me)

-no sugars..including and especially high fructose corn sugar- this stuff is in everything!!!! it leads your body to crave more and more...ever wonder why you go on a binge after eating cookies or even sugar free candy,,,this stuff creates a cycle in your brain. You have a sugar high for couple of hours and when your blood levels start to come back down your looking for my sugar..and eat more. Sugar free candy has fructose (ususally) in it which is sugar...anything ending in *ose* is sugar. The drs suggest some products like splenda if you want..but to be careful. Its considered a new product still and dont know the long term effects of it yet.

You prob thought I was on Core vickie because they are very similar...the only diffences I find are I can eat whole grain bread, and I watch the fat free products...some have more sugar in them then light products do. Im trying to stay away from most processed food though.
  • howdy, chickies. everything is wonderful here now that curtis is home. he's downstairs now having some homemade cookies. we had pan grilled halibut for lunch. sort of celebrating his return.

vickie, enjoy your day. one meal could mean a lapse, but it doesn't have to mean a collapse. you'll be all right. portion control is what i'm mainly working on. this planned eating is helping me so far. i can see how it could backfire, though.

rhonda, i'm glad you have a relaxing day. curtis is exhausted (not from being home but from the tournament/seminar). he's in the recliner with cookies and milk. it's good to have him home.

frouf, thank you for the update. we miss you, girl!

coco, let us know if you get the book and how you like it.

patti, thank you , thank you, thank you for posting your tips. i printed them up so curtis can read them, too.

i need to go now and see if i can find a tape measure and get my waist measured. i will still hop on those scales, though. i'm addicted.
  • Hi everyone
Just thought I would check back in.
Not a thing going on here.

P.A. Thanks for the tips. But the one about staying off the scales. That will be a hard one. I am hoping they have the Dr Oz book at WalMart tomorrow. Am kinda excited about getting it. So keeping my fingers crossed they have it.

    ONTARGET Love your new picture.

Well hubby isnt feeling good. His stomach has been upset most of the afternoon. So we just stayed home. And watch some DVD's.
Well I weigh in tomorrow. So will see how that goes.
I hope everyone had a great weekend.
Got some rest. And relaxed some.
    Take care everyone.
    coco
  • good luck tomorrow, Coco.

    welcome back Frouf..enjoy the play.

Sandra, your picture didn't come through on my machine...??

I did some painting, some sorting and shopping. I went to a scrapbook store to see what that craft is all about. I'd like to do our honeymoon album as a scrapbook, although I've never done one before...looks like fun.

Dinner was good...small steak and spinach cooked with olive oil, garlic and lemon.

All is well here. Talk to everyone tomorrow.

    Rhonda
  • coco. : wishes for you.

rhonda, i don't know why my picture didn't come through. it's a cat with an arrow through its head. sort of representative of how i'm feeling now while waiting on the rest of the scores to be posted.
  • Hey coco,,,I hope they have it too. Dont sweat about the scale one,,,,the good doctors just tell you not to sweat the number on the scale..its the size of your waist thats more important. If you want to weigh yourself go right ahead. I do.
  • Good Morning Chicks! We left the house yesterday at 1:00 and didn't get home until 10:30 pm. We had a fabulous time at the party and I was great with my eating. I ate some non-Core items but I was very much in control. She had shrimp cocktail and guacamole with no non-Core items added. No veggies or fruit though. I ate some italian beef with no bread and a 3 x 3 inch square piece of eggplant lasagna, some creamy lime jello mold, and a huge portion of salad. It was the best I could be. The company was outstanding and I tried to get lost in that. Our friend was SO delighted to see us and she was so surprised. She was near tears because she knew how far and how long we drove to celebrate her birthday.

Now I'm going to see what you were all up to yesterday.
  • Morning everyone
Hope everyone had a good weekend.

VICKIE Sounds as if you did really well with the eating. And that is good. Sounds like you are back on track. Way to go!!!!

P.A. Thanks. I cant wait to get to WalMart and see if they have the book.
    Will let you know.

TEJAS Thanks for the good luck with the scales. Will need them. Hope is the hip. Hope you are doing better.

ONTARGET Thanks for the scale vibes. Will need them. Hope you are doing ok.

FROUFY Miss you. Cant wait till you get back. Hope you enjoyed the play.

To everyone else I am thinking of you.
    Have a wonderful day everyone.
