So....

Well I think i mentioned last week that my son had croup. I took him in on Monday for a bad cough and they diagnosed croup - treatment steam and moist air. Took him back Thursday because he wasnt any better, and they tried to do a pulseO2 on him and he was so wiggly they had a hard time getting a reading, but when they did it said 97% so they said, still croup, but gave him steroids expecting one dose to do it. When he wasnt better Friday we went back to the ped. This time he was asleep in the carseat when I got there and we did the pulseO2 while he was still sleeping. It started out 95-96% which isnt perfect but not bad for a cold and sleeping, but then it dropped to low 80's and back up to 90's and back down. It was showing a pattern of sleep apnea. The doctor came in and looked at the monitor and this time when we woke alex up she actually got to hear the cough (the other times he was stubbornly non-coughing) and then his O2 started staying in the mid 80's. So she put him on oxygen and an albuterol nebulizer and called an ambulance and we went to the hospital.

We did a second dose of albuterol on the way to the hospital. When we got there his o2 was around 88%, not good, but not scary, but somewhere over the next few hours the albuterol kicked in and it climbed back up to 97-100 when he was awake, but still 92 when he slept.

So we stayed the night and we got sent home with an albuterol inhaler. He tested positive for RSV which is really scary in a 10 week old.

He seems better now, but I am a little upset that as soon as we got home it seemed to get worse again. I am worried that maybe something in our house is irritating him.

Needless to say my diet and exercise for the week is pretty much non existant.

Top it off with dh and I just had a huge fight...arent we supposed to be relieved and supportive at this point?

Hi everyone! How is everyone doing? I'm doing great! I found my appetite suppressant: peppermints. See, I work in food service and those damn muffins and bacon ALWAYS get me! But today I took some of my mama's peppermints with me and whoola, not one sliver of bacon passed these lips. Peppermint and bacon just don't mix ya know? And I figure that the peppermints is better for me than the bacon. This post is very special. Why? Because this is my first post in this thread on my COMPUTER!!! We got it back from the shop yesterday and I am SO happy! Still a little bummed that I lost all that data but psyched cause it's like we got a brand new computer. I spent yesterday downloading updates and such.

Ennay I am so sorry. I'm so glad he is doing better. Does he have croup also? We went through that and everytime I took him to the hospital he would be better. They state it was the cold air outside and the car ride that would make him feel better so I started taking him for walks in the middle of the night. It is so scary and I feel so much for you.

I've had an ill child from day one and from experience I can tell you that fighting was pretty common in our home. It was so stressful on each of us to see him sick and it's always on the back of my mind.

They gave us a heart monitor also. It was hooked up to our son and if he had problems when he was sleeping, it would notify us immediately. The comfort was well worth the hassle.

Ennay im sorry your family is going through this. It seemed like my 9-month old was born with a congestion problem. She gets congested really easy and that was really scary the first couple of months because i thought she wouldnt be able to breath, for some reason it always acted up at night i had to start using an humidifer and add some essential oils like peppermint or eculpus to it. She still gets sick from time to time now that we moved to new orleans and the weather change is soo drastic. I wish you the best with your little one,
Sometimes stress can cause spouses to fight. My hubby and i fight alot more ever since we transitioned from military life, but sometimes it take thinking about how it was when he was gone overseas and how are relationship is normally. Men just do not seem to react to situations like women and right now I realized im still going through harmone changes even though im not going through post partum deppression i still have something my hubby says i havent been the same since he went to iraq while i was preg.
In short what im trying to say is that I understand to some point what your going through. Hang in there and we are here for you

hang in there Ennay!! Tough having to deal with a little one so sick and then an arguement with husband too!! My grandma always used to say "it will all work out in the wash."

I'm sorry your little one is so sick. I remember my oldest (he is now 13) having croup really bad as a youngster and asthma we later found he had milk and egg allergies. Thank God I was breastfeeding, I could only imagine if I wasn't because formula's main ingredient is whey! When we found out he was over a year old and just trying out cow's milk(he still got some milk products from me, but it was converted, and when we found out about the allergies from an allergist, I eliminated milk and dairy products using supplementation). When he was a year old, a small 1 oz cube of cheese made turn flush on his cheeks and he had so much mucous from his nose within 15 minutes that he couldn't breath. We had to read all the ingredients for bi-products such as lacto-albumin, whey, and casein and any egg products. We eliminated all dairy for 5 years retried him and he has been okay ever since. We still limit to some degree just out of precaution.

I don't know if this is useful...I just hope your baby is okay. Take care!!

I'm sure you know but, I also want to add that RSV is nasty for babies; RSV is an every day cold for adults, but very difficult and hard on babies. Which you may already know. Keep a close eye on your little one and call your doc if you feel there are any changes.

Ennay I am so sorry your little guy is sick and had to have a trip to the hospital. My sisters little guy is having the same issues (he is 5 mo) Good luck and give him lots of loves!!

Ennay: You're a bit of a "health nut" hehe, or so I've assumed/noticed. One thing I did learn with all the piercings that I've had is this:
If you won't stick it in your eye, why put it anywhere else?
My body piercer, Rob, taught me that. And he showed me studies they had done with various people who have had piercings in the past. So I tried it. These were my results:
Pain was more manageable, healing time (approx 6 months for the average piercing to be fully healed) was cut in half by 1/3, and it was cheaper!
What did I use?
1. Dr. Bronner's Lavender Soap
2. Tea Tree Oil
3. Sea Salts

Polysporin and Neosporin contain medicinal ingredients, some variations even contain codien, not to mention if you don't check for low phosphates, they can contain a high number of phosphates.

Just a tid bit of info for you I've had many, many piercings, majority of them being oral (center lip, corner lip, tongue, monroe, and medusa), and I LIVE by the above mentioned for most everything, and have had nothing but good experiences. At the very least, something you could look in to if you're interested

Sorry ladies, I responded to this one because it's an area that I pride myself in having studied quite extensively, and know a bit about. But be sure that I've read all of your posts Congrats to those who have lost, and chins up for those who are in a bit of a rut. We all have them (myself included, frequently!), and tomorrow is a new day If you've hit a plateau, there are a number of conventional (and unconventional) methods that you could look in to, ways to "kick start" your metabolism in to losing again.

I realize that I've been MIA. I was enjoying the free time I had to myself, but was enjoying it a little too much. I ate poorly, completely ignored my food schedule, and ingested far too many foods high in sugar. But DF is back, and I'm back on my "wagon." Not much more to report than that. Goal has changed for this challenge. To maintain, and lose what I can. No specific number, but I am definitely not going to come close to my goal. That's alright. I haven't gone above where I started, so for that I am thankful.
