  • Quote: Andi18-Sorry to hear about your car trouble. Sounds miserable. Being that your in Omaha maybe you could just ice skate wherever you need to go! I grew up in Omaha. I went to Westside High School and the University of Nebraska-Omaha. My whole family still lives there and I love to visit, usually in the summer though!
If I wanted to skate everywhere i would move back to Fargo, ND where I am originally from (well across a river and state line - like Omaha & CB). I've only lived in Omaha for 4.5 years. You were smart to move away LOL It's honestly not a bad place, but I know we are moving out of here in probably less than a year so I haven't really made it feel like "home" even though we moved here right after my hubby and I got married so he could attend the University of Nebraska Medical Center. I definitely do not blame you for only visiting your family in the summer. I prefer to go back to Minnesota in the summer to when I can enjoy REAL lakes, not these reservoirs they have in Nebraska
  • I want to thank everyone for their thoughts on my car. I really do appreciate it! Sorry I don't have time to do personals. I did another quick skim through.

Tina ~ I understand how you feel with your sister, my cousin (who is like a sister) is going through basically the same thing and it stinks that they have to figure this out on their own. My thoughts are with you and your family. I hope things turn around.
  • Hey team!

So I'm a little...discouraged. I have been doing good, but my weight has actually been UP the last two days! NOW! I think this is because I started doing some intense lower-body work and my legs are VERY sore....so I'm going to wait until the soreness leaves before I get too bummed over it. I can hardly walk though, LOL! No idea how I'm going to workout tomorrow, feeling sore as I do now!

Other than that....eating has really been great. So I hope this is just a case of me retaining water, fingers crossed!
  • Cassie
If you are that sore you are working out to hard. We work the muscles until they are very tired not until they are so sore. Hope you feel better soon.
  • OMG Rennie! I'm sorry but I agree with your daughter that was an Oreo moment! I really hope you are mobile tomorrow! Rest rest rest that body now and dont try and get back to it before your body says you are ready!

Andi that is so cool you got to do that! And you made it through!! You did it!! I hope your body is stronger than you are letting on and the soreness stays away! Great job today!

Counting...thank you! I did print out some address labels and just stuck them over the top...actually my dd helped me, after I paid her of course! Problem solved!

Diva...I'm just dandy thanks!! You are the one that needs to get better! Are you taking good care of you and not doing things you shouldnt be?

Tina...I'm so sorry, I apparently missed something big going on with you but I promise to get caught up on it tomorrow morning!

Karen...How ya feeling? I'm sorry the funk found you, I hope you figure it out and get to feeling your sunshine self again very soon! Let us know if you need to vent or anything!

    DK... great to see you!

    Kari... How's everything!?
  • Cassie...definetly gotta be building up that lean muscle tissue which is a VERY good thing even if it doesnt show on that evil machine the scale! Bob Greene says that its actually a VERY good sign to have a gain when you first start working out those large muscle groups. Are you taking your measurements too? Remember that your body doesnt lose inches and pounds at the same time. So when the scale isnt moving the tape is! And thats the proof in the pudding that you are shrinking! Besides all that...Scales are for fish! LOL!
  • So I figured out what was wrong with me! Oye! First of all because of long classes I didnt start eating lunch till like 130. And even then I only had a WW meal which was 4 points. So obviously probably low bloodsugar not to mention slowed metabolism and possible dehydration! So I'm at the school sweating up a storm because its so hot in there. Then I came home but before I come into the house I shoveled the sidewalk...duh! Thats why I was so shaky and weak feeling! Had a bagel with some honey nut cream cheese and sat and rested awhile and vwala(or however you spell it LOL)! I swear what an airhead huh!

I had a fantastic day except for the no exercise but I did count the shoveling as its heavy wet snow!

So I've got a question for the runners. Do your knees bother you? I didnt run today but man do my knees hurt today. They feel achy and I guess all warm inside. I'm thinking I may need to start taking some Glucosamine C...my dh takes it for his knees. I just wonder if its typical of beginning running and it'll pass or if its a sign of the time.

Tomorrow I finish up Week 3...can you believe that! I've been running for 3 weeks! Have a great night all!
  • Hun
I have a question. How come the man in the ambulance didn't look a thing like the guy on ghost whisperer? lol
  • "If you are that sore you are working out to hard. We work the muscles until they are very tired not until they are so sore"

Well it depends if she hasn't been doing anything major and has just started that's when you get the worst DOMS (Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness) Sometimes it can last a week when you first begin... but it's not a bad thing it means what you've done is working.

Once your body gets adjusted a bit the soreness only lasts a day or two and isn't as intense... being sore like that is usually a sign that you've torn small muscle fibers... which is what you want to do when building muscle the body repairs itself with more muscle.

I find when I start training I tend to not lose as much for a week or two but then I get a bigger loss. It tends to be less like clockwork though.
  • Just got home a little while ago, and WOW I am exhausted. Airport delays are no fun. I didn't really get exercise in today (9 mins on the elliptical, so one mile), which I'm upset with myself for, but I really just want to go to bed right now. I did eat very healthy food today, so I'm still under my calories by about 200. My back is really sore (in a good way) from tons of deadlifts last night, so maybe it was good for me to take a day off anyway. And I'm doing another half-marathon on Sunday! The New York Road Runners put on so many races - they are really becoming my Sunday routine these days.

Sara, my condolences to you and your family - best of luck getting through this tough time.

Melissa - my knees hurt depending on what kind of surface I run on and for how long. Concrete is the worst, but in NYC, that's often my only option for a long run. I find that taking a hot shower the second I get home from a run and stretching IN the shower really helps prevent and ease the soreness though.

Andi, glad you got your car fixed. That bootcamp sounds awesome! What city are you in again? Maybe I should alt-travel out there one of these weekends...

Rennie, oh my goodness I hope you're okay! Swimming might be something you could do pain-free? Or maybe this is just your chance to take a break from the exercising and really focus on your eating plan. No matter what, don't give up! You've been doing really well so far.

Glad you finally got home. Give up is not in my vocabulary. I am one of those people that sticks with something when I start it. Have always been this way, probably the reason I don't start many things I don't think I can do before I start them lol. I am standing up right now because I had to go to the little girls room so I am going to head up to bed. Getting up and down from the chair isn't the most fun thing I have done. lol
  • Hello! I am doing great. Stayed on plan today. I don’t remember if I had told you guys about me adding running to my (and sons) walk, but we managed to run 1 mailbox for every 4 mailboxes. Last week, it was 1 mailbox for every 10. That was just too easy. Next week, we are adding 2 mailboxes for every 4. So hopefully we will be running at least a mile without stopping by the end of the year.

So I did get my 500 step-ups done. If I hadn’t told you guys I was doing it, I think I would had stopped at 100. I started getting tired at 80…felt like I was going to die at 300, and just felt great in the 400’s. I think I will do this a lot more. I felt very tired, but great. I think my legs will feel it in the morning. It was like doing 500 stairs all at once.

Jelynn, Terapet, Skinnyvibes, Diva, Spidermonkey, Tina30, Idealmuse: Hello and I hope you guys are having a great day!

Catsget & Diva : I hope you start feeling better.

Bellamia: So sorry to hear about your loss. You are in my thoughts in prayers also.

KSK: I hope you start feeling better and get out of that funk. I have those days too. Hate them….

HuneB: I hope you start feeling better. It seems that something is going around the red team??? I hope no one sneezed on my computer board. LOL> Okay, just read the post about the not eating….etc. Glad you are not coming down with anything.

Counting Down: I love those pre-made veggies in the steamer bags. Oohh, I need to go shopping now. Just thinking about those veggies are making me hungry.

Andi18: You sure have a good attitude about spending that much money on your car. It sounds like a fantastic work-out.

Shymoment: I am so sorry to hear about your fall. I hope you heal soon. You had me cracking up over the lent in the way. Darn lent.

Cassie: Don’t sweat the scale. Unless you went to the buffet and overloaded on food (well you get my point), you did not gain that much weight. The scale is a liar liar. Sounds like water weight or something.

Scenestealer: Glad you are home safe.

I'm in Omaha, NE! The bootcamps are Tuesday & Thursday nights. No weekends and the Tuesday night bootcamp is right during TBL We can do our own TBL workout with real TBL contestants during TBL
  • Sara, I am so sorry for your losses. Please know that we are thinking of you.

Shy ~ WOW! No killing yourself please!! We need you to finish out this challenge!!!
  • LOL Rennie...I dont watch Ghost Whisperer so I dont know the reference but I'll be if you squished your eyes real tight it would have magically been him! LOL...now how about that nurse maid...whats he looking like? LOL! How are you feeling today?

Muse...I agree with you. When I first start working out with weights, I use very light weights and I still am VERY sore the next day..actually the second day is worse than the day after for me. Hows everything going?

Laura...Welcome home!!! thanks for the input on the knees. They feel better right now, but could be because I was in bed all night. We'll see how it goes. The surface I run on is at the gym, its an indoor track, Not sure what the material is but its rubber like. I guess I'll just see how it goes!

Mom23bc...Way to go on your running!! Thats fantastic! I had a friend many moons ago who started running that way, she'd run between 2 telephone poles then walk the next. After a few months she was a dynamo...lots tons of weight too. So keep it up!!

Andi....Good Morning...how are you feeling this morning? They didnt maim you did they? LOL!
