  • Hi everyone! I'm back after my week at the fair, it was a great week. I made the decision to go OFF program all week, but I still made better decisions than I would have before MRC and am happy to report that I'm actually still down .5 lb. Maybe it was just luck, I don't know. I'm not going to really go hard-core OP until Sunday or Monday, and then put my full effort into it. It was kind of nice to have the little break--but I'm ready to get back to it!

    Congrats on everyones losses!
  • Nice to meet you too Letherout!!

I weighed in today after my week of preconditioning and I can't believe I got to sign my first board. 5 lbs lost. Now hopefully I keep this up and lose even more when I start Monday on my new menu.
  • Junie04..

Congratulations on making Goal. I am so very very happy for you.. I am on maintenance, and if you need any help on stabilization, please feel free to ask,I would be more than glad to help you.

Congratulations to all the losers and welcome to all the newbies. It is great to meet you all.

Hope y'all have a wonderful weekend, and remember, think thin.

    Patzi
  • Thanks for the feed back LET.HER.OUT(I like your name) I am afraid if I don't answer to someone I will gain it all back. I am tired of spending $$ on weight loss(I have done my share) but this program has worked the best for me and therefore I know it works. I just need to get my head back in the game and quit making excuses. One meal at a time. I know I can do this. Thanks everyone!
  • Hi Everyone,

First, fair warning....this is really long....

I've been following this Forum on and off since I first did MRC in 2009 and I must say that the current group is the most warm, friendly, upbeat and supportive group I've seen. Rather than just reading, it's time to jump in with all of you...so here's my story.....

I've always been slightly overweight....usually 10-20lbs heavier than I'd like to be. I'm very active and genetically have quite a bit of muscle, especially in the legs, so I have looked stocky, never slender. I have been on and off diets since Jr. High, but losing weight was at such a slow pace...like 1/4-1/2 lb. per week that I just didn't stick to them. I can out=eat any exercise program and may actually be the only person to train and complete a marathon and not lose a pound.

Anyway, I discovered MRC 2 years ago when a friend of mine with similar build to me....stocky....had this major transformation following MRC. I couln't believe it. So I gave it a try, and just like many of you know....it really works if you follow the plan! I lost 30lbs in 3 months. I discovered that I am carb. sensitive which explains why my other attempts at weight loss failed.

Unfortunately, I got impatient with the program...must be part of the process because I've read many posts from others that have this happen towards the end... and never finished stabilization. I just touched on my goal, but added a few extra pounds as I began to enter back in to "normal" eating...aka my old patterns. So over the last 2 years I've been intending to go back to MRC plan and finish it off. Sometimes I'd actually have several days totally on plan, but would cheat, and one cheat led to another and then back to do over again and again and again. I kind of maintained, but would gain a couple of pounds settle at that weight with the intention of getting it all off again.

I kept wondering why it was so hard to get on board with the program. The first time I was so determined to follow the program with no cheating and that is exactly what I did. Maybe it's because I knew it would only take 2 months once I got started.

This Spring, I really began to stress eat alot and my clothes were getting way too tight, past the point of not fitting well, to not fitting at all. I developed a major muffin top and belly. I needed to either buy bigger sizes or lost this weight.

So here I am...I'm doing MRC with this site as my "center". I've been on the program for 2 full weeks, made it through the blue and yellow menu and am on the green menu until I hit my goal. Then the real work will begin for me.

Patzi, I've really enjoyed reading your posts regarding stabilization and maintenance. That's the missing piece for me and where I know I need to focus my energies.

For now, I'm thrilled to see 8lbs lost in 2 weeks! I'm preparing for the first plateau, cause I know it's looming out there.

My August goal is to hit the 130s.

Thanks to any of you that read this lenthy post. The rest won't be this long, I promise.

    Wishing everyone a great weekend
  • Hi Raven, Welcome!! You're off to a Great start and I'm glad you decided to join in. You, Brandy & I are at the same current weight, with similar goals! I bet you will for sure make the 130's by the end of August.

As for me.....WI this morning....UP 1.5. My consultant is convinced that it's water. My period finally started with a vengence about 2 weeks late!!
I talked to her about Medi-Quick, but I think I'll wait to WI on Tuesday and see how I'm doing. She really doesn't feel that I'm stuck. My average is still 3 lbs per week, but it feels like it's really slowed down to me.
Guess I'm just bummed knowing I'm not going to reach my short-term goal for my birthday next week.
  • Hey, everyone! Take a day off...miss a lot!!!!! Welcome to all our newbies. So glad to see you all here. The more the merrier, plus more support to go around.

Well, I've done 5 days of Meta-Quick and this morning, I'm down to 160.8! Did I mention I'm also PMSing? It pays to read food labels. It's amazing where sodium hides. Anyway, I won't be able to weigh in on Monday because I've got an overnight business trip I have to go on. I've planned for it as much as I can plan-wise, but there will be a meal that is out of my control. We'll see what happens. I'll weigh in again next Thursday.

Hope everyone has a great, ON PLAN, weekend!
  • Hey everyone.

I didn't post yesterday because I was a little bummed. I went for WI and was up 1lb. I was a little shocked and had no idea what happened between Tuesday to Friday. The consultant did a body comp on me to check everything out and my numbers were pretty much the same from July 22nd. But the 4lbs I had lost since then was pure fat.. which is awesome.

This morning I went back to the center because we had PiYo class. Before class, I got on the scale and I was down 3lbs from yesterday. Go figure!? So after class, I signd back in to get a quick WI, so it was noted in my file. So that's a 4lb loss this week! I'm SO happy!

@little edie - on hitting goal! Happy for you! And mom is doing well. She still has the cast on the left foot but gets to take that off on Tuesday, take Xrays to overnight them down to FL and see what happens after that. I'm hoping they tell her to put a boot on and everything is healed up.

@Jen - YAH! for losing! And yes, reading the labels is HUGE. My center is having another "How to read Nutritional Labels" class this week. I'm planning on going to get a refresher.

@Raven - Welcome! Glad you joined us. And no need to apologize for being "winded". We all get that way sometimes.

Congrats to all the losers! Glad we are all hear to support each other. Hope everyone is having a great weekened.
  • Hi there! Wow, I am so happy to see that there are others on a similar journey as myself! All of the support, the better!

Reading over many of your personal entries motivates me so much. I look forward to participating in the discussions! I have been with MRC since May 2011. I have lost 21lbs! I am very happy, but do get discouraged sometimes. Seems I hit plateus every other week! LOL
  • Hey Tamikl, Welcome! 21 lbs. is Awesome!! I have one particular consultant who is really trying to teach me not to freak out about the plateus; that it is just a natural progression for us women. Where in CO are you?!

Jen ~ You're PMSing and you LOST?! Way Cool. So, what was the total loss in 5 days on MQ? Still wondering if I should do it Tuesday-Friday.
  • Had a charity event for Boys and Girls Aid and went off program for the night. I tried to make good choices, but there really weren't any. Took the fat/carb blocker and stayed away from alcohol. But did have a small square of cheesecake. It was so good. Back on program today. I see many people talking about MetaQuick. What is that? Thanks
  • Comments, congrats, and my perspectives...
Coarkkayaker – how’s it going? Have you been on vacation? If not, do you have your plan in place for being successful?

Bigdog – from what I understand, the HNS drinks are the cornerstone of the program. I would purchase those, but you can also get them elsewhere – online namely. I purchased my multivitamin and flaxseed oil from Sams Club.

Little_edie – CONGRATS on reaching your goal!!! Awesome job!!! I’m sure your story is about perseverance. Sorry about all of the hoops you went through for the job and the prospect didn’t pan out.

Goneforgood1128 – congrats on your 1.5 lb loss and inching (literally and figuratively) closer to stabilization!

Patzi – I hope you have safe travels!

Stone3973 – welcome to the group. Congrats on your success thus far and good luck in making your decision whether to renew or try to reach goal on your own. The thing about re-enrolling is that you’ll get help with stabilization and maintenance. With me, I know how to lose weight and I know how to gain weight, but I’m terrible at maintaining. In the past, it’s been okay, time to go back to my old habits.

Junie04 – congrats on your loss! You are that much closer to your goal!

Brandy8188 – congrats on your loss! I think since this IS a lifestyle program, you made good decisions. Though we shouldn’t associate food with good times, the fair only comes once a year here, so it is a time to get some special treats. All things in moderation. And getting back on program as soon as possible is key.

LetHerOut – congrats on your 2 lb loss!

RaRaF – congrats on your .5 lb loss! If that were me and I went off program, I’d gain 5 or 10 lbs…LOL! But you made better choices because you are making lifestyle changes.

FluffyinFlorida – congrats on your 5 lb loss! Doesn’t it feel good to get on the scale and see the numbers going down?

Raven59 – welcome to the current group! You have the tools to be successful on the program and I wish you much luck in reaching goal again and maintaining your loss this time. It’s a slippery slope, believe me, I know firsthand.

ConnieInColorado – sorry about your water weight gain. I had similar issues last month…ugh, so not looking forward to it this month!

JenB72 – I’m so happy that the switch up in eating is working for you! I hope you have a safe and productive trip!

Candi – congrats on your loss! I wish my center had exercise classes…alas they don’t so I’ll continue to walk and use my videos at home.

Tamikl – welcome to the board and congrats on your weight loss success thus far!

    What's going on with me?

I’m considering buying the carb and fat blocker. Will have to look at my price list and determine if it is worth it. It doesn’t seem as if I have many instances when I need them, but it has come up twice during my time on program and I’ve worried, so I’d rather be safe than sorry.

So…I’m really trying to make this a lifestyle change and not just another diet. During the summer, I enrolled my daughter in swim classes, but I don’t swim. I took classes 14 or 15 years ago, but never really practiced the techniques, etc. So, in order for her to enjoy the water and continue to master the techniques, her teacher suggested that we make it a part of our lives, especially with them being so young. So, I re-enrolled in swim classes. My first one was this past Thursday. I was terrified, but will continue to go back for the sake of being more active and really changing my lifestyle. My daughter’s health and quality of life is one of the main reasons I am giving this program an earnest try. I do not want her to see me living a sedentary, unhealthy lifestyle and think it’s okay. It’s bad for your health and society is not nice to overweight people.

I've been doing okay being back at work. Subway turkey salads are pretty much my lunch staples. I am surprised at how I can enjoy a salad without it swimming in salad dressing - just oil and vinegar. Tomorrow our principal is supplying breakfast and I intend to eat so that I can socialize with everyone, but make the best choices possible.

I went to weigh-in on Friday and I lost 1.5 lbs so considering that I gained .5 on Tuesday, I'm down a pound for the week. I have mixed feelings about that. For the past two weeks, I've lost 1 lb. I'll think that I'm doing an awesome job and can't help but feel let down when the scale doesn't show the results I think it should.

The highlight of my week is that I have a home scale and I can finally weigh myself on it again!!!! Whoo hOO!!!!!
  • luvs2read, are you loosing inches even though you are not loosing a lot of pounds? You might want to track that so you can see results even when the scale isn't cooperating. Also congrats on your determination to be a good role model for your daughter! You will both benefit from that decision.

I am planning a trip for a couple days and have made a plan. The hotel has breakfast, so I can have eggs and 1/2 piece of toast or oatmeal. I'm bringing meal bars for lunch just in case. For dinner, we are brining salad and steak to grill on our small grill at a park, and we will also bring veggies and fruits and of course lots of water. We will be outdoors hiking and walking around town in Sisters, Oregon. It's very beautiful there and the fresh air will do us some good!

I hope you all have a great OP week!
  • Well, I'm going to take the plunge and get myself back on track tomorrow. I did MRC last year and lost about 40 pounds, but then I had my gall bladder out in October, some stressful things happen around Christmas and then I just haven't been able to get back on track so I've gained back everything plus more. I'm not going to rejoin my center because I'm short on funds, but I've got all of my documentation so I'm going to start pre-conditioning tomorrow to get off the caffeine and sweets. I think I'm finally ready to get off my butt and get moving again.
  • Luvs2read...Congrats on retaking swimming lessons...you will do great. Yes it is important to encourage your daughter to be active. My daughter is 17 and really does not like to participate in any sport. So we r fighting the weight battle together. It's strange how I can help her and give advice but I don't practice what I dish out. I even helped by son who is 18 to drop 50 pounds 6 months ago. So I am ready to finish this battle. Thanks for your advice about maintaining. I know what you mean about losing and then not knowing how to maintain.
