  • I'm sorry, but I can't wait for the weekend to tell you this week's NSV... I know nothing better is gonna happen! I typically jog on a treadmill and I typically warmup on the elliptical, then jog 2 to 2.5 miles at 5.5mph. That's about an 11-minute mile. Tonight, I went out and ran the streets around my house... I timed the run, but didn't track the distance until I got home. I walked .6mi to warmup, then jogged straight (no walking breaks - that's a big deal for me), jogged straight for 2.3mi in 22 minutes. That's a 9:34min mile!!!
I've only been sub-10 minutes once before, for just a mile on the treadmill and it was hard! Tonight, I felt like I still had a bit in me. In fact, I sorta sprinted the last 100 yards to my door! I always assumed the treadmill was easier, but perhaps relying on the set speed is slowing my down! I'm absolutely stunned!!!
  • Jen516 That is great! and I understand you totally I try to get my mile under 10 mins every time I train, but rarely achieve it (unless i'm watching Kylie Minogue in concert, then I slash it)

I have been really bad training wise lately as my daughter has taken up karate in addition to her swimming so thats four evenings per week that im out with her. I must try and get some hours in the gym this week.

    Tx
  • Where's everybody...?

    50 lb. Challenge Check in

~Last week's NSV: For being on vacation I thought I did really well, especially in terms of eating. I think I only had one dessert the entire time I was gone. Hubby and I shared some meals, sometimes I ordered a kids meal and sometimes I just ate really healthy meals (I had a wonderful sea bass for our anniversary meal).

~Last week's struggles: Should have worn better shoes, my entire body hurt at the end of each day. But, I got in a miles of walking!!

~This week's fitness goals: I bought some wrist and ankle weights and want to start using them while I'm watching tv in the evenings. I think I should google how effective they can be and the best way to use them....

~Last week's fitness achievements: Should have worn a pedometer, I walked A LOT while we were at Disneyland.

~This week's diet goals: Continue current plan.

~Last week's diet achievements: Passed up dessert while on vacation. IF I'm especially active while on vacation, I use that to justify having dessert.

    ~Weigh ins
    Week 1: 209
    Week 2: 206
    Week 3: 206

I have to be honest, all the above check in refers to my vacation time. When I got home, I weighed myself, just knowing after being so good and walking so much that my weight would be down. Imagine my shock when the scale registered 212#'s!!!! I am ashamed to admit that I was so mad that I walked away from the scale and downed 3, yes, 3, donuts (my son, who was watching the house for us while we were gone, had left them). I was just livid and for the entire weekend binged like a maniac, thinking what's the point? I was terrified to get on the scale yesterday, thinking I'd probably hit 220 by then but the scale shows that I'm still at 206. What is up with that???? Ack! Well, needless to say I've stopped having my tantrum and I'm back on track. That really isn't like me to do that, maybe I was just too tired from the trip and not able to mentally handle the scale that day, I don't know...

    Anyway, how's everyone else doing?
  • I know this challenge has been running a month already but can I join too? I've got 2 short term goals but it would be nice to have a long term goal too. If I've counted correctly there are 21 weeks left this year and I started my weight loss journey last week so I've already clocked up 3.5lbs. If I can lose an average of 2lbs per week then I'll only be 4.5lbs off 50lbs b January 1st.

Sorry for all the waffle and I hope it's OK to jump onto this challenge late.
  • Ugh... I had a terrible week food-wise and an amazing week exercise-wise, so they almost cancel eacho ther out... except for the fact that I gained like 4lb.
It's the week before TOM and I always feel like a ravenous beast that week, PLUS it's the week I start back to work (school teacher), so I'm stressed and eating over that too. :O Didn't eat really bad stuff, just ate a LOT of the decent stuff I'm been eating normally. Feeling really full and bloated the whole week... eeww.
On the plus side, exercise-wise I had multiple NSV. As described earlier, I rocked a 2.3 mi run at a 9:35 pace on Monday. Then, on Wednesday, I jogged with a perfectly svelte friend who goes to the gym and I ROCKED her. Like really kicked her butt! She said "thanks for making me run today." It blew my mind that ANYBODY would ever say that to me! On Friday, I jogged a FULL 5k with no walking at a 10:30pace. I've never gone more than about 2.5mi before, so I was super excited. That had been my goal for an official October 5k race, so now I need a new goal! And THEN, today my brother's friend (who's a 25 year old male and not overweight) was bragging about how he ran 3 miles in 33 minutes... What?! Fool, I could beat that (almost! at least tie!)! I didn't say that outloud of course, but I was sooo amazed that was his time and ppl were complimenting him!
SO, gained weight, but know that it'll drop off soon and rocked the jogging, so not to broken down about it. I DO need to figure out how to handle the whole week before TOM issue. I can't do this every month!!!

My food goals this week are to get back on track with eating to satisfy, not gorge. My fitness goals are to jog three times, total 10miles.

  • I'm still here. I haven't had a chance to catch up on this thread but I figured I'd post my check-in and try to catch up later today...

I've been over my head with getting my photography business off the ground and dealing with a teething little one...

~Last week's NSV: I ran. Not just ran like I usually do with run/walk intervals... I ran for 10 minutes straight. It was amazing! I think I had been wraming up too long and too hard.Oh, and I bought a pair of size 12 jeans off the shelf without trying them on...They fit like a glove! They're not the cutesy low-rise I used to wear...they have a "slimming tummy panel" but hey... you win some you lose some.
~Last week's struggles: Getting out to train. It's over 90 degrees and so dang hot.
~This week's fitness goals: To Run twice this week for 10 minutes each.
~Last week's fitness achievements: The running. I'm so impressed. Someone recently told me I wouldn't and shouldn't run until I was under 170... Well, suck it! I am running!
~This week's diet goals: Stay on plan 5 out of 7 days... SBD
~Last week's diet achievements: I stayed OP while TOM was here

So now to be back on the ball...

    I'm down to 213.8 from 232! Woooohooooo!
