  • Well, it was my turn with the donughts today. I got to sleep in until 7 AM and after feeding the dogs and making coffee I ate my leftover stuffed potato for my breakfast. It was good and ahould have been enough. After my shower, I heard the doorbell ring. It was my next door neighbor with the tell-tale pink box. I only had one, and I admit it tasted good but all I kept thinking was the waste of calories when I could have had something more filling (and fulfilling) like ww toast or eggs or something.
I'm at the orthodontist waiting for my son and will check the other posts and comment later today when I have a spare minute. Today is shaping up to be a very busy day.
  • Back home again.

I wanted to add to the gardening/housekeeping thoughts. We've employed a weekly gardener ever since we moved into this house about 5 1/2 years ago and I've had a bi-weekly housekeeper for at least 7 years. I still have my share of cleaning to do because, well, I have 2 dogs! I don't know where I'd find the time to do any of this with a full time job! And I don't feel guilty at all!!

    Time to go shoe shopping.
  • DH and I spent the first 3 months of our living together life arguing about who was going to do the cleaning. I was walking dogs part time and cleaning other people's houses part time and there was no way I was going to get stuck with cleaning our place on top of that.

So I hired cleaners to come every 2 weeks and they have ever since. There are balls of cat hair floating around by the time they come but IMO life is too short to spend it keeping the house neat (unless someone pays you well to do that).

I pick up the clutter, do the dishes, and enjoy my life in a kinda clean house. My mother used to work full time and cleaned once a week. She turned down social invitations/theatre tickets etc. if the events happened on cleaning night! So sad!

I would also get people to come do the yard but DH mows the grass now (after 10 years of me doing it) and I kinda like messing around with the plants. There are a lot of weeds in my flower beds but so what? Mishka loves to hide out in them so I figure I'm providing more cover for him by leaving them.

If this "shirking" of housework makes me lazy then CALL ME LAZY!!!

Have a great Sunday everyone! DH and I are starting his diet and exercise program today. Yippee! I'm going to go and throw out (with his permission of course) all the fattening stuff he's accumulated in the 2 weeks I've been away. I'm really looking forward to both of us being OP and supporting each other in this. I know we will succeed!

  • Good morning -

On the hiring someone for lawn maintenance and housecleaning, no one should feel lazy or lame for that! Believe me, if it was an expense I could justify right now I would totally do it! I'm still reapaying some debt from my less budget conscious years, so until that gets taken care of we have to clean ourselves and cut our own grass. My dad has a side business as a contract software developer and used to cut his own grass, until he figured out how much that was costing him at his hourly rate... it pays for itself!

Dagmar - have fun throwing out the bad food in the house!

Allison - I thought about the wasted calories the last time I had a doughnut - took some of the fun out of it, which I guess is a good thing.

Shanna - love the dress! And terrible about your son's girlfriend! Ouch.

I am exhausted today - took an Ornex before bed and the pseudoephedrine kept me awake all night. Slept about 1.5-2 hours from bedtime to 6, about an hour after that before I finally got up. DSS stayed in bed most of the night, only getting up at 4:30 and then right at 6, so of course I have to be wide awake all night... I just have bad sleep karma - I bet next time he is here and I fall asleep he will have a restless night and get up! That is the way things have been going lately! And all of my fancy plans for yoga this morning and doing some cleaning have gone out the window because I feel so draggy... yuck...

    Good Father's Day everyone!
