It went from $2.42 a gallon to $2.89 since Monday morning here. I truly hope the prices go down soon.

Anyone else have acid reflux? I thought losing weight would help, but it's the dang hiatl hernia, which has nothing to do with weight, I guess. Two doctors have said don't bother fixing the hernia because surgery doesn't work all the time, but the meds do. Several weeks ago, my insurance company decided to quit paying for my medicine and told me to see a gastroenterologist. I'd already seen one, but this is a little insurance game, according to the nurse practitioner I saw. They don't want to pay for the strong stuff, which is expensive, so I have to get the cheapest stuff, try it for a month and see if it works. If that doesn't, then I get the next step up in medication and see if that works, and so on and so on. I'm in so much misery! The cheap sh*t isn't working worth beans even on two pills a day. But I have to wait a month before I can try the next stuff, which means another doctor visit and copay.

I should document this, and if I end up with a cancerous erosion in my esophagus, I'll blame it all on the insurance company.

I paid $2.65 for a gallon today. Will be interesting to see what it is tomorrow.

Sorry the insurance company is giving you the run-around with meds and making you jump through hoops to get the stuff that works for you, Sheila.

I HAD to buy gas today (talk about running on empty) and paid $1.13 litre (which is $4.28 gallon). With all the oil fields and reserves in Alberta, I would think Canada is self-sufficient ~ guess not.

What the heck are you doing up, Jilly? It must be past midnight at Tim Horton's. You should be in bed in a flannel nightie with a hot toddy, a warm wrap around your neck and your SO waiting on you hand and foot!

Barring that scenario, you should at least be resting with a pocketful of antibiotics and a tall glass of water at the ready.

Its after 1:00 a.m. in fact and I AM in my jammies (only got out of them today to go to the doctor and put a few litres of gas in my starving car!) How sick am I? No visits to Timmy's today! The poor SO is sleeping peacefully after I kept him up all last night with my hacking and coughing. Being the considerate soul I am, I've taken up residence in the den, with the computer, comfy couch and TV ~ after snoozing all day I'm not sleepy at all, yet not in the mood to visit any of my kinky sites, so here I am at 3FC!

Love the new pic Jill and the location is better but still a dead give away to Ontario!! I paid $5.12/gallon for gas today. Talk about being p.o'ed. Ridiculous, absolutely ridiculous. Good job we can make the oil companies a little richer! Bigger gripe - the gym I go to is on a walk out (guess so with this gas prices!!) so I am having to be creative with home exercise. Sheila, my friend has a hiatal hernia and swears by papaya fruit tablets for giving him relief. The fruit contains an enzyme that aids digestion.

Gas was at $3.09/9 when we filled up the van...Ouch, a $65 charge. We've been driving the Buick as much as possible. Most stations in our area have the cheapest unleaded for $2.99/9 now, at least a little improvement. Converting an entire nation (shoot, an entire world) to eco-friendly automobiles isn't likely to happen.

It's just not financially feasible for most people to get them...And there are millions of pre-owned vehicles that are going to be around for decades. But the the nation's move toward gas-hogs again, especially in the face of rising fuel costs, is crazy. The big SUV's are fun and luxurious, but how many really need them? We've bought into the marketing and here we are.

And I fully admit we love our conversion van for it's comfort and versatility; we can camp in it, drive our friends' whole family around to look at Christmas lights, transport lots of plants (yeah, Gardenwife). But are we taking all kinds of side trips now? Heck no!

Will be visiting my credit union this week to see about getting a car loan. Hoping I can get one; not because of a crappy credit history, fixed that :Patting myself on the back:, but because of my low monthly income. However, we need a new car. I had hoped to wait until next spring but don't think my car will last that long. Stupid car. Planning to get the most gas efficient vehicle I can fit all 3 car seats. DH wants to get a minivan but there is no way I can afford the gas for him to drive 100 miles a day for school in a minivan. Would love a hybrid SUV, but that is out of my budget at this time.
Sure wished we lived in town. At least then I could walk or ride my bike to the store, library, TKD class, etc. Save ALOT of money on gas that way and get even more exercise. LOL

I guess I should be thankful (actually I was) to fill up with gas at $2.89 the other day! The station across the street was $2.99. I'm sure it's higher by now. Hopefully it will go down a bit after this weekend - it always spikes on the 3 day weekends. Someone is making a lot of money off us right now - I really think they just use things like the hurricane as an excuse to gouge us...
