Are you guilty of wearing clothes that are still too small?

  • I have the same issue... I don't know if you read my earlier post about the skinny jeans or legging jeans. They fit great! I bought size 12 to fit my belly area, but the legs were nice and tight.

    I read your other post but was just sympathizing with her.
  • Quote: I never did... i always said "Why is she wearing that? She would look so much better with a bigger size?" But then my fat clothes got tight.. stuff I had just bought for my new job! I could not tell my husband that all the new clothes we just bought were too tight.. that went on over the Christmas holiday.. it was quite the wake up call when I went to put on my jeans and every shirt i tried on you could see my roll.. now.. 26 days from the start of my journey I am 10 lbs lighter and my clothes are starting to loosen.. thank god! I have some size 14's waiting for me for after i drop any 15-20... then i will buy new clothes when those get baggy.. but yes, i did it.. primarily because i did not have a never ending budget...
    No one commented on your post and it is a very valid one. Some of us can not run out any BUY something to fit us. And are really embarressed to have to be wearing what we are.
    I had gone through a sudden weight gain last year AFTER maintaining a big weightloss for years and had replaced my entire wardrobe with TINY things.The weight gain has benn demorilizing. I have recently removed 10lbs of it and have 10 more to go. So sometimes YOU CAN"T breathe easy in your clothes even if you know its the right thing!{I did pick up a few things at thrift stores BUT you don't get ALL the choises}
  • Very valid point.

    I stopped buying clothes after I hit size 12. I could not bring myself to buy 14's or 16's. I wore sweats...luckily I had a job that I did from home and I did have a pair of black pants that were the right size for all business functions. -- But I do understand if funds is an issue. -- I just don't understand when funds are not an issue and when someone just wants to be certain size....like my gf
  • This thread is in my head! I took a good look at myself this morning and I have a built in muffin top. So until I lose enough fat to make my muffin go away (it's there even without clothes) I will look as though I'm wearing too-small clothes when I'm not. Maybe the OP's friend has the same body type?
  • We both have one.... I am very sensitive about my stomach area and go to great lengths hiding it and covering it.... My friend just refuses to be anything but size 10. We have 30 pound weight difference ( I have the smaller number). -- We bought the same pair of jeans; I bought them is size 12, she bought them in size 10. -- It made me feel sad, because she could have looked so good in those jeans if she had purchased the right and fitting size.
  • I can sympathize with everyone who has a built in muffin top. I too had the choice of: buy something that doesn't create a muffin top but slides down to reveal it, or buy something that fits but creates a muffin top.

    That said, there's a difference between wearing something that creates a muffin top and something that you have to stuff yourself into

    I don't have it any more. It was a great day when I realized I could buy tight pants and not have to worry about whether or not I would be picking them up all day or if I would be hiding a muffin top all day.
  • I have a permanent muffin top, and it makes me crazy. Since it's winter, and I'm suddenly always cold, I've been wearing shaper tanks under most of my tops, and it helps a little. It has shrunk more than my waist, so I'm really hoping this becomes less of an issue as I continue to lose weight.

    I work with a couple girls who struggle with their weight, and they are wearing low rise jeans that are definitely too small. I don't know if they're in denial, hoping to shrink back in to those clothes, don't want to spend the money on new clothes or don't have the money to spare. Whatever the reason, I feel bad for them. They could look much better.
  • I tend to buy clothes thats too big. Because if anything is sticking out anywhere, then I wont leave the house. So if they are a little too big, they usually hide the places I wanna hide.. If they actually look okay on, or if they make me look bigger, is something I dont know anything about tho..
  • EVERYTHING gives me a muffin top. I even have one when I'm naked. SO unattractive. I can't even say I got it from having kids, because I haven't. I used to have a flat stomach, then I went on the Pill and now the muffin-top won't go away even though I eat right 5-6 days a week and exercise 6 days a week. As such, I am a size 12 and hating it. But I would much rather wear my size 12 and hide the muffin-top than make myself fatter by wearing a size 10. It makes me sad, though, when I read about people who regularly binge who are bemoaning that they are size 8 and wish they were size 6. I don't binge or really even overeat, but thanks to them I feel extra-huge in my size 12's.

    My biggest pants issue isn't jeans--it's jean shorts. It's so hard to find a pair that fits my waist but isn't SO long in the leg that it looks unsexy. My thigh fat is receding visibly now, and I have been told by many people now that I have very muscular legs. I want to show off my legs! But for some reason all the size 12 jean shorts that fit my stomach have long legs. All the shorts that are long enough on my thighs to hide the remaining flab but short enough to show off my quads have tight waists that give me a muffin top.

    I've found plenty of knit, cargo and sweats shorts that fit the large waist/hips and buff-legs body type. But jean shorts are the cutest, and I wish I had more than that one magical pair that fits perfectly. It seems like manufacturers make a lot of jeans for a lot of different body types but the shorts come in one-size-fits-small.
