I KWYM - except I never bothered with pumping! Far too much faff. I made sure I had plenty of healthy snack foods that I could just grab and eat on the go to keep my strength up.

My mum also came round every day and helped out for the first couple of weeks, which was a big help.

Lisa, lots of to you. I have no advice, just lots of sympathy. Good thing we'r programmed to love the little guys, eh?

My DH affectionately calls me a "weirdo" .

So it's 6 a.m. on a Sunday and I'm planning to go for a 6 km jog in about an hour. No biggie except I haven't been jogging for over 20 years.

And I'm looking forward to this . Maybe my DH is right. But I'm one of the fittest weirdos I know so it's all worth it.

I remember the lake being very calm and still some mornings. My dog and I would run and the only sounds would be the birds and the other joggers panting along with us.

Well, my daughter left this morning for college. I thought I was in denial, but I haven't slept at all the last two nights, so I guess my subconscious isn't in denial anyway. We had a great last evening last night. We went out to a fabulous dinner (not at all on plan...sigh), and then played games. Before we went out, we had appetizers and champagne and talked about what we think our daughter has to look forward to most in college. She goes up today (to Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington) as she is going for a community service camp for 5 days. They have 40 freshman coming up for the camp and will be doing community service projects around Spokane. She is looking forward to the camp and getting to know some fellow freshman before school starts. Then, dh will go up there Wednesday night to start helping her move into the dorms on Thursday. Younger dd and I will fly up Friday after school for the weekend. I'm sure it will be even more real when we leave her at the dorm, but it's feeling pretty real today....I just don't know where the years have gone. Truly..... those of you with little ones-- treasure them-- they grow up so fast. It seems like I was just dealing with dd at preschool when she didn't want to stay without mommy.

I've been back at work for a week but the kiddos come Monday. Younger dd starts high school on Monday too. She is so excited to start high school and to be an "only child". She got contacts for the first time a few days ago and is super excited for everyone to see the new her! I also start my college class Monday (I'm working towards my masters in Library Science), so I feel a little overwhelmed-- ok, a lot).

I'm exhausted and emotional. I'm going to try really hard to stay on track food and exercise wise as that might be the only thing I can control for now.

Have a great jog Dagmar. I went for a jog around the lake near my house yesterday, too.
It is so peaceful if I go early - but it is a real dog gathering lake, if I go later I have to play 'dodge the dog' in the off leash area (which seems to be the whole circumfrence of the lake for some doggie folks).

The best part of the run is the farmers market opens @ 9am and I bring some $$ and go shopping.
I usually buy plants - but yesterday I bought some delicious cheddar...yummm. (At least I passed up on the homemade chocolates and baked goods)

Cats Tongue - have you lived in Vancouver before? If not, get ready for lots of rain and grey skies. In fact it is pouring today.
Just takes some getting used to - some November's it will rain everyday for the whole month and you may never see the sun.

Morning. It's an on and off weather day here. I came home from church in bright sunshine, and put on a short sleeved shirt to go pick stuff in the garden - the wind and clouds had come in literally while I changed my clothes! Had to go back for some long sleeves.

Michele - yay for you getting your degree. Will it get you more pay in your current position? Most of the high schools here have degreed librarians, but only about 2/3 of the middle schools, and very few of the elementary. Heck, some of the elementary schools don't even staff their libraries, but use parent volunteers.

I got lots of walking in yesterday at the state fair. I was there to do a square dance demonstration, but went early to see some of the fair itself. Well, it was way too crowded for me, so I ended up walking on the perimeter roads which go to the parking lots, and only coming back into the main fair area when I was near a building/booth I knew I wanted to go into. Plus of course, the area where we were dancing was at the far end from where I ended up parking.

Hope everyone is winding up a great weekend - and to think we get an "extra" day next weekend. Yay!

Hi, Yesterday was DH's brothers memorial. Got to see a lot of family we don't get to see a lot. The weather wasn't too bad, very warm but we had a good breeze.

We are having the worst luck this week, with AIR conditioning!!! First, the air conditioning went out on DH's truck. That was Wednesday. Saturday the air went out on my SUV. Today the air went out in the house! Now, how is that for luck? Ron can repair my SUV, but the part he needs isn't avilable untill tomorrow. Luckly, we are friends with an air-conditioning guy and he worked us in between customers today, so the air is fixed in the house. And it was just a broken wire, not the compressor as he first thought. Cost difference between 100.00 dollars and 2500.00 dollars.

Dagmar, how was the jog? I think someone would have to push me around the last half!

Mitchelle, If we could only keep them young a little longer. But they grown up on us so quickly. Each stage is fun though, and brings it own rewards.

Sznn, I love Farmers Markets. So much to choose from, and so fresh. Wish I had one a little closer.

Pat, Sounds like you got all your walking in yesterday. Like you needed more, with the square dancing! that is a lot of moving! How long have you danced?

Well.....not really.... when I lived in Texas, I needed to have my masters plus my teaching degree so I started along that path. Here, it depends upon the district, but in my district, a masters degree and teaching degree are required in middle and high schools only. For elementary schools (where I am), the only true requirements are a high school diploma and to pass a typing test! They prefer college but it isn't required and the pay reflects these requirements. Since I already have almost half of my masters, I decided to go ahead and finish just in case we move to another state, I decide to go to middle, high school or public libraries, or the requirements change here. I will get a small bump in pay but it isn't considerable. It is very frustrating. Our parent donations have to pay the majority of my salary, so if we don't get donations, my hours will be cut. I work 35 hours per week at a school of 900+ students. When we lived in Houston, I worked full-time at a school of less than 200 students. Sigh....

I have been absolutely ravenous for a few days!!!!!!
I think this could be due to one or two causes....
I haven't slept more than a couple of hours the past few nights due to stress of my daughter going to college. I guess I'm not coping well. I think this is the main reason, but I'm wondering if stress could cause me to be ravenous?? I have truly been starving, with my stomach growling!
Since I went back to work last week and have been more active, I may be burning more calories too? My weight was good until yesterday. I have overindulged this weekend and my weight is reflecting that.
Any advice or thoughts on my STARVING tummy?
