  • Diet pop
Diet Pepsi is the elixir of life - who knew? Seriously though, I drink waaay too much diet pop - can't be good for me. I find it hard to chug down 2 litres of water every day but Diet P - no problem!

Loblaws has come up with a slightly carbonated, lightly flavored water which I really like (now they just have to come out with a caffeinated version ). Except 6 small bottles cost the same as 24 of regular water!! I hate, hate being hosed for the price on "healthier" food. I know it costs more to produce organic stuff but flavored water? Come on!

I think this is a weirdness my parents drilled into me and my DH is perpetuating. Don't waste food/drink! Finish the chocolate cake instead of throwing it out. Eat all of the fries. And the broccoli too! If you paid for it you have to eat it - ARRRGGHHH!!!

My parents did the same to us, eat EVERYTHING in your plate, there are children in Ethiopia starving... I'm getting better and will leave food in my plate, will throw away cake, pie or junk food, especially if I think I may eat it...
  • Happy Friday!

Since it's Friday, I'm wearing my happy, pink tie-dyed t-shirt. It's my little Jimmy Buffet-style way of being laid back at work. Now, if I don't wear it, co-workers ask why. The Pink Friday Tie Dye Fan club...

I have completed Day 7 of my BFL program. Already need to buy a heavier set of dumbells! I'll know if I lost anything come Monday weigh in.

Mudpie--Vicki is a genius. Never weighed over 118lb in all of her 53 years. Works out in her home gym daily. Eats perfectly. And she is SO damned logical. A lawyer....

ennay--I'm on a mad rant about McD's today too. Once in a while, when it's really hot like today, I'll let myself have an iced mocha coffee. So I tried one of theirs. It was delicious. It was $3.00. And it wasn't quite ENOUGH. My husband told me he read that they actually research how much of a serving leaves you wanting more. I was incensed! I'll pay the 4.00$ at Starbucks nest time--snort!

I do have a plan that works most of the time at family/friend gatherings. If it's food, I stick with one salad plate-sized load. Then I get a big cup of coffee and drink it the rest of the time. I take a huge forkful of whatever dessert my husband gets and call it good. I have the coffee cup to keep me busy and usually can go home sane...

So-- a great weekend to all!

  • I'm a diet Coke fan. Because of the sodium, I've been trying to cut down, but I really like one each day.

I eat at family things. dunno why ... I think I want them all to see that you can be slim, healthy and eat too. They worry, those families.

Poker straight dish-water hair here too. I have some funky bangs cut in but at work I slick them back into a ponytail, at home I stick them under a hat ... dunno about that either.

A friend from work told me she was going to drop off some hostas this week. I figured about two or three nice bunches. OI! she left about ten pots of stuff! So, I've got some gardening to do. I'd better run some errands in the morning and make sure I've got healthy snack stuff around.
  • Another great idea!

That's a great idea! I'll remember that at the next family do - Saturday a week from today. Since I'm hosting it I will also try something new with dessert. Can't have just fruit 'cause my cousins kids will yell but I think I will buy those fruit juice frozen popsicle things for them and have chunks of fruit and vanilla yogurt dip for the rest of us, who are all on a diet apparently!

When they leave there will be no leftover ice cream or cake that we then "have" to eat!

I'm off for a dip in the pool and then to walk 4 dogs and do some serious book shopping. Cheers!

  • I'm not a coke fan at all but I do love lemonade and have one diet lemonade with lunch each day during the week. Don't have it at the weekend for some reason.

Cuppajoe - hi! Love your picture and your friend Vicki sounds like a smart woman. I'm going to try to remember that quote - I sure need to!

I've had a bad few days I'm afraid and it's going to be reflected in my weekly weigh in tomorrow. Only 3 1/2 weeks till my holidays so realistically, with the weight gain, I'm not going to make 140 by then but I'm still going to try. Trying for an actual number is always unrealistic I think but if it keeps me going in the right direction that's all that counts.

    Have a good weekend everybody.
  • I used to walk the dogs for five miles (with water) and then come home and sit on the lounge chair to read the paper with a very large bottle of diet Pepsi (18+ ounces). I tried to limit myself to that one per day, but realized that it made me crave more. Once I cut that out I haven't craved it at all. I think it also made me crave food because of the sweetness left in my mouth afterward. Now I still drink a lot of water and when I want something different I have carbonated water like Perrier or San Pelligrino.
  • Hi all

Haven't been around much lately (well I have been lurking, just not posting). I've kind of been taking some time to think about how I want to go about this weight loss thing. I have been calorie counting since November and I've lost some weight, but I seem to be stuck at 144 for the past 2 months

The last couple of weeks (after a bout with a really bad cold) I have been eating pretty much what I want. I stopped logging in Fitday and stopped measuring food . I still have been watching what I eat (somewhat) and paying attention to portion control. I guess I've been doing a little "Intuitive" eating; eating only when I'm hungry and stopping when I'm satisfied. I stepped on the scale this morning and I am down 1/2 pound. Hey, a loss is a loss

I'm thinking about giving this "Intuitive" eating a try. I'm not really big on sweets, so I don't think I'll have a problem with that and I don't really like soda so I will continue to drink lots of water (as always). My only problem that I see is getting in enough vegies because if it were up to me, I would eat 3 sandwiches a day and call it quits (their just so easy)

So I think I'm going to give this a try for a couple of weeks and see what happens. If it isn't working, then I will go back to calorie counting, and work out a new plan.

Is anyone else doing this "Intuitive" eating and if so, is it working? I'll keep you all posted and let you know how it's working for me.

    Have a great day!
  • Hi,

Sunday morning, 2am. Here at work. Another good day so far. After work, I go home for some shut-eye and then off to an out-of-town Father's Day Blast at an Italian place.

The great thing is, it's not just a pasta-palace, they have all kinds of grill stuff. Chops, veggies. I can definitely make this work. Since tomorrow is weigh-in, I REALLY want to hang on to my plan!

    Will keep y'all posted.
