Scrumptious – Oh no, I hope you’re feeling better! I’d say you did well for nurses’ week, especially splitting those treats with another nurse, good call! Ahh, those boots are so cute! The leopard print ones look really fun, but I’m thinking of getting something closer to the style of the shorter ones (but longer, does that makes sense?). Actually, I won’t be able to afford them for a while anyway, but a girl can dream right? Maybe for my birthday at the end of the summer I’ll treat myself…
Sun – I know how you feel with the laziness and not feeling like cooking. We don’t have a dishwasher, and I hate cooking in a dirty kitchen, and some days I just do NOT want to spend 45 minutes cleaning just so that I can spend another 45 cooking, and well, bad choices get made. You may not have lost anything, but even not gaining is a type of victory. Hang in there!
Jmko – Thanks for the kind words. 5 pounds down? What a great weigh in!!! Yes, it will start to slow, but ride the high while you can! You may even get a nice drop next week too. Good job! I love corned beef and cabbage too. I love beef, and I love cabbage, so it makes sense that I’d love it. Do you ever peruse skinnytaste.com? She’s got a beef and cabbage casserole that I’m wanting to try:
http://www.skinnytaste.com/2012/01/k...casserole.html. It looks like it would be nice and savory, but relatively low cal. It might be wise to stay home instead of surrounding yourself with temptation if you don’t feel strong enough to resist right now. You shouldn’t avoid social gatherings all together or for an extended period of time, but sometimes you just need to give yourself a break and take care of you.
Pisces – Welcome! Calorie counting and food journaling is a great start. Others may disagree with me, but I think that 6 days a week is a little bit much at first. Again, this is my own take, but I would focus on getting your eating in check with maybe some light exercise every other day. If you’ve been sedentary up until now your body may not be ready for that pace, and by simply adjusting how much you eat you can change your body a lot. I’m not saying exercise is bad (not at all!) but that trying to do too much at once can set us up for failure. Good for you for taking the first steps toward a better you!
Whiskey - Hi, and welcome!
So DS is getting better and better, which is such a relief. This morning I started week two of C25K, which meant running at intervals of 90 seconds and walking for 2 minutes. I had thought about repeating week one (60 seconds running, 90 seconds walking) but in the end I decided to just go for it and up the running time. I’m glad I did! I haven’t been pleased as punch with the scale lately, so having the sense of accomplishment from following a fitness plan helps to offset that. I want to be strong and lean, not “skinny fat.”
This morning’s WI was 135.8 (grr) but that was largely due to my poor choices yesterday (I’ve got to own them). DS’s birthday is in a month and I made a practice cake and frosted it. This mean that I also ate a lot of frosting/batter/cake crumbs… And I had French fries and 1 and ½ cheeseburgers, so yeah, that was to be expected. I wrote a post in the Weight Loss Support forum about how I’ve become comforatable with my body after losing so much weight and am having trouble staying on plan because I actually like my body now. BUT I have more work to do on it. I do want to be smaller, and fitter. And I know I can be.
Today is just another dull day. The weather is up a little bit (in the 60’s), but it’s not as warm as I would like. It’s supposed to improve this week though (fingers crossed). I’m having trouble feeling ambitious today, but at least I already got my run in right?
