  • Thank you Dottington! My birthday was really great and I didn't stray too far. The fun times were definitely worth it and I think beneficial to my diet and exercise as I have been soooo strict the last 8-9 weeks!

I am happy your trip went well and your sister is ok. It sounds like an amazing opportunity! Welcome back!

Welcome Lauracore! Looks like you're off to a great start for August. Keep up the great work!
  • Hi Lauracore! Looks like your off to a great start, keep up the good work!

I actually gained another pound. I think its just due to being home where there are a lot of bad influences and just bad vibes in general. Being with my boyfriend and my parents is like night and day, boyfriend is laid-back, wonderful, and nice; my parents are more high-strung and very angry all the time for no particular reason. I'll leave it at that.

On a happier note, reached two weight-training goals today: my leg weights goal (50 lbs of resistance for 25 reps) and weighted walks (10 lbs of resistance for approximately 1/2 mile). It at least made me feel better about being home for the time being.
  • Namaste aw im sorry but that's wonderful you've met some of your fitness goals!
  • Thanks for the welcome wishes! I started level 3 of the 30 Day Shred and it is TOUGH! But each new level is, right?

Namaste-- Sorry about the bad vibes! I can really relate to that! But keep your eyes on your fitness goals because it looks like you are killing it!
  • Thanks for the encouragement all! I'm sure I'll be feeling better and losing weight in no time. My parents... well, can't really do anything about them, they've been that way for years and nothing is going to change that. I just take solace in the fact that eventually I will move out and find my new career and the relationship will be a lot better. My boyfriend and I luckily are very close and talk every morning and night, and between you guys, my boyfriend, and my faith things are looking better. Sometimes you just need a fresh perspective and someone who knows where you're coming from to pull you out of something like that.

I am very excited about my weight loss goals too! I thought I was aiming lofty but I've actually met 2 of 4 and the first month's not over yet! I think I will up the ante a little bit too, I don't really like to work out if I feel like I'm not pushing myself hard enough. So could I even see a 65 or 80 pound leg or over 150 on calf raises? Heck yes!
  • Aaand... I've decided to add C25K as well and hopefully RUN my first 5K by October!
  • namaste984: I am gong to visit family next week!!! FOR A WEEK!!! And I don't know how it will effect my weight loss!!! So scared! They're actually pretty great, but I think I speak for everyone when I say that living with family (parents) is not good for the health of adult children no matter how much you love each other! lol!

Congratulations on your fitness successes! And yes! Def do C25K! I love it! It's great!
  • Thanks 1yr! Loving C25K so far! Hope you have a fun time with the family. Also love your use of icons in your exercise tracker, its rubbing off on me.
  • namaste- Are you doing C25K outside or on a treadmill? This is my 2nd time around with C25K and the first time I completed the entire 8 weeks and did 30 minute runs for a few weeks but once spring hit and I tried to run outside I was whipped!!! I could barely make it 15 minutes! I don't know if I had trouble pacing myself or if it was the uneven ground but it was so hard!
  • namaste984: lol! thanks! I love them too Would love to have an "excercise icon" buddy

And I'm super excited that you like C25K! I've modified the program a little bit for myself, I would like to spend some extra days on some of their increased intensities, but it definitely gives me a real feeling of accomplishment at the end because it's not just about the calorie burn but I'm also learning a skill! I would love to someday be able to just go for a relaxing run to destress!

Lauracore: I know that you didn't direct your question at me but I do it on the treadmill. Different people have different experiences. I know some people find the treadmill harder because they don't adjust their pace to their fatigue, while other people find the uneven ground more challenging. Most people who are runners and run on treadmills in the winter time say that in the spring their boddies take a few "sessions" of the outdoor workout to adjust. Even marathoners say that they run much shorter distances and get new muscle soreness when they change between indoor treadmills and outdoor paths (and actually vise versa as well).
  • Iyr2mkovr- Yes! That adjustment was not something I was expecting. Even without adjusting the treadmill to my pace I was not prepared to run outside. When I take my runs to the treadmill this winter I'll likely try to do longer runs/faster paces/ HIT/ and varied inclines to help out with this. I was curious for Namaste's October run so that she might have a heads up about this adjustment.
  • Laura- I alternate between an indoor track and the treadmill. I can imagine changing between indoor and outdoor is probably a bit hellish, especially if there's a difference in terrain or temperature.

1yr- I like the sound of that. I'm notorious for sticking a hundred or so smiley icons in one sentence. As for C25K, not only do you build skill but you feel awesome afterward.
  • Oh, and I forgot to add: will be adding off and on running outside on my "off" days. I love the way running makes me feel and probably will run off a lot of my pounds.

Laura- I run on an incline too, I realized running on a 0.0 incline might be problematic since that kind of incline usually doesn't exist outside the gym, especially not here in StL metro where it is very hilly! I change paces on the treadmill too due to fatigue. What is HIT? High-Intensity Intervals?
