I had a full day planned but some of it was a bust. We got up early and headed out for a round of golf but at our destination, some 15 miles from home, the wind was still in near-hurricane stage (did you all read about the destruction in Pasadena--that's a couple hours away, but it seems everywhere it was abnormally windy). So DH and I went to look at new clothes for golf--something of the cool-weather type. It was all so...boring. I couldn't decide on anything so I'll stick with wearing a sweater or jacket with my sleeveless golf shirts. Then we went to Costco for a few items, then off to the shop for DH to pick up some stuff to do at home. Once home, I changed into jeans and went to the grocery store, came home and had some lunch and headed out to do Christmas shopping.

For those of you who like books, did you know that for every $100 in gift cards you buy at Barnes & Noble, you get a free $10 gift card for your own use after Christmas? I bought $500 (5-$100 cards for gifts to nieces and friends' kids) and now have 5 $10 gift cards for me! Too bad they don't sell Kindle books there...

So I came home to relax and read a bit, but had forgotten to charge my Kindle so I took a little nap. I really should get up and do the rest of my present wrapping, but I'm not feeling in the mood.

Andrea, according to Wikipedia, a macoun apple is a cross between a McIntosh and a Jersey Black apple but is quite similar to a honey crisp. No idea what a Jersey Black is, but I do like McIntosh and honey crisp apples--crisp, juicy and just the right amount of tart. They claim the Macoun is the finest of the eating apples. I wonder why we don't have them here? I like the Jazz variety myself (cross between a Gala and Brayburn).

Good morning all, yes I am up. I would rather get up than lay in bed and try to go back to sleep. I went to a recital yesterday, these were violin students from a nearby studio. One of the students was a little girl of about 3 maybe 4 and the cutest little girl ,ever. She had a tiny, tiny violin and a real violin and she was playing it , I was watching her fingers, she also had a lot of poise for such a young child.There were just a couple of adults playing, her mother being one of them The few adults were there to play harmony. I'd venture to say that the oldest young violinist wa 10-11. Then of course there was the usual punch and cookies, afterward .

I slept in this morning after a late bonfire on the beach last night. I had my girls sushi night, which was a big success and tons of fun, and some of the exiled guys built a bonfire on the beach that everyone ended up at (sushi night is always girls night). Emma was an angel with all those people around, just very calm. Several friends commented on how different she was acting than the last time they saw her. Friday night I brought a big bag of clothes to the clothing exchange, and came home with a few tops, two new bags, and two pairs of earrings. It was really fun and a great idea! I forgot what good taste my friends had. Everyone got some "new" clothes, and what wasn't taken will be donated to the local assistance organization. I also have gotten in two really long wogs with the dog (5 miles Fri, 4 Sat), one to come later today, my Christmas lights are up, laundry done, and my house is really clean.

Dagmar, I hope you got a lot done on your to-do list. I know I plan too many things to get done on my weekends and am lucky if I make it through half of them!

Allison, I need to do some holiday shopping today too. Sorry your golf game got winded out.

Golf this morning was cold, but wonderful. Not a cloud in the sky and no wind. We started out at 54 degrees and ended around 62, but we were dressed for it, and the sun helped a lot! We're golfing both days next weekend as well.

Christmas shopping is all done and wrapped and will be mailed out tomorrow. Well, I do have one more item to order and have sent to my Dad, but that's all.
