I'm considering restarting an exchange plan to lose weight but I'm at a loss as to how many calories I should eat daily. Any advice on how to calculate that?
It really depends upon how many calories your burn. Personally I use a Fitbit with a heart rate monitor built into it. There are places on the internet where you can estimate your resting metabolic rate (what you burn when you aren't doing anything) and then extrapolate from that to give you a calorie burn figure based upon activity. In my case that estimated RMR is too high. I know this because I went and actually had my RMR tested and found it was lower than most estimates.
You can sort of back into this by recording what you eat at something like MyFitnessPal and seeing the calories you consume and seeing if you lose weight.
Back to the Exchange Program
I dredged this old thread up - had tried many other plans, and nothing seemed to work for me like the old Weight Watchers exchanges did. I just completed week one tracking exchanges and lost 2.5 pounds.
Wondering if anyone else is doing this? I eat a mostly vegetarian diet, so it is tricky to get in the proteins, but I am figuring it out as I go.
