  • Good Morning All,

    Monica-Hello!

Debi- Older daughter does the volleyball too. Younger daughter 9 and I think this can be her first year at basketball. Not sure if she will do it as a sport, she got bored half way through softball. She likes doing them on "her time". I guess we will wait and see. She is a dancer, ballet/tap/jazz and tumbling. This year she wants to add hip-hop. And she could do that daily. So that may be more to the way we $$. She gets good stretching/exercise. She has been doing it since 2 months after she turned 3 at the studio. She never bores of it. Good thing as those costumes are not cheap. And I love the studio she is at, because they wear there costumes for more and 1 time at a recital. They perform 5 more times wearing them. So at least they get some wear out of them. She might go towards the cheerleading than sports! Pretty cool about all the corn you are getting left on the doorstep.

DMPLS-Glad to hear of the BIG loss! YEAH!!! That is good about working on the DVD's together. I am goin to have to try that one. It has been a while since we have done one. I have had to really push myself to exercise lately too. Not sure why, I could give a million excuses. But, great job to you!!

Well I better get moving and drink my water. later, Penny
  • Penny-Just a quick note about basketball and volleyball. If either of your daughters are large, please make them wear hightop shoes. I endured torn ligaments at 13 and reconstructive surgery at 16 because I didn't wear them, and for larger than petite girls, the ankle is the weak link. Also when they hit puberty, just know that studies have shown that girls are 10 times more likely to tear their knee ligaments during ovulation. Hormones during that time change the ligaments, and make them softer or more brittle or something. Universities are putting their female basketball players into knee braces even if they haven't torn one yet because it is so prevalent. Living with a torn ACL isn't any fun either.
  • Catherine-Thanks, that is great info to know. I never thought about high tops for volleyball only basketball. I am going to let daughter read this that you wrote and see what she says.
  • Yesterday it seemed like I did alot, but it seems as if there is still so much to do today. It's neverending. I got the lampshades vacuumed, some of the rooms dusted and vacuumed, windows cleaned, some laundry done, but I still have the floors to mop and wax and toilets and bathtubs to be cleaned. Ick! Then hubby springs it on me that he invited the night shift crew over for a barbeque/pool game/ poker night the weekend after my brother leaves! Well, at least the house will be clean!

Cathernie, I think that is how I sprained my ankle when I was growing up. No high tops.

Bernice, so glad to hear about your ankles going down and congrats on the big weight loss. WHOOSH!

    Debi, that's alot of corn!!!

Hiya Carol. Don't work too hard!

Monica Dianne, congrats on being engaged! How exciting! You'll look great for your pics by starting now. Just don't overwhelm yourself. Take baby steps.

Well, I better get going here. Still have to go shopping and get the carpet cleaner back.
    toodles

  • Debbie-I should be cleaning my bathroom, but since they are bringing the new handicap toilet tomorrow, I'm refusing to clean in there. I'm pretty sure it's going to be messy when they get done, and I'm not scrubbing a toilet that's going to the dump.

I've decided to go back to my food journal. I only seem to lose weight when I keep it, and I am finally at a place where I think I'm ready to stop just maintaining. That's scary in and of itself.
  • Just another quickie, I'm feeling icky, hope I'm not coming down with what Steve had. I'm so tired & the boys broke up from school today, hope the weather stays nice so they can wear themselves out in the garden rather than wearing me out!!lol Not heard about the shop job but applied for a job with Dartington Glass (Based in Devon but it has a shop near me) who also do Caithness glass ( I LOVE their paperweights) it's three days each week which would cut down on childcare costs & I'd ask to work at least one day of the week-end to cut costs for us too. The lady I spoke to seemed very nice & encouraging but I don't know whether to put ALL my qualifications on the form in case;as has happened before; they think I'm over qualified, what do you think? Do I go with honesty (as I always try to do) or 'miss out' some of my college/university qualifications? Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.
Sorry my brain is not at it's best so I won't be doing personals as such...
DMPLS so GLAD the head is getting betterxxxx
Anne, sorry about your EVIL (lol) kitty, is it a werewolf kitty??lol Pleased you got them both sorted out though. So FUNNY your cat LOVES the bathroom, does he like water too?xxxxx
Annie WTG on all that biking, I feel tired just reading about it!xxxxx
    Dusty, where are you?xxxxxx

  • Afternoon ladies

Feeling kinda bummed today. Had a dentist appt and I need to schedule TWO root canals! Yuck. Not having any pain at this point. But they are in teeth that have old filings. One is more sensitive with a small absess. And TOM showed up with 3 previously release lb buddies Ugh! Well at least it is water. I am not liking more regular visits. I am use to every 32-35 days now it is to every 22 days. Again Ugh!

Hugs to everyone and I am going to clean my toilet. Bathroom and floors need to be done everyday with 7 kids in care. Hey I 'm claiming it as extra movement time! Not exercise per se but definately extra claories burned.
  • Hellooooo!
    Greetings my fellow 3FC friends.
So I did my weigh-in yesterday morning and I only lost a pound. Definitely think that TOM had something to do with it, but I am still happy that it is progress and I do expect to have a big number next week.

I actually got my fanny up on the treadmill today and told myself I would do 15 minutes. Anything is an accomplishment just starting out because I have a lot of back pain. I popped in a DVD of "Roseanne" (LUV that show) and ended up doing an extra 5 minutes. The plan is to hit it again later tonight for another 10-15 minutes.

Everyone is so inspiring here! Keep up the great work ladies!
  • Hi all,

I slept in so much today. I took a benadryl last night for allergies and it put me in a semi coma. lol. I just woke up at 11 a.m!

Catherine: I don't blame you for not cleaning until after the workers install that toilet. Smart thinking.

Carol: Congrats on the -1.75! Don't work too hard.

Lauren: Hi and welcome back. How are things?

Monica: Welcome. What a wonderful gift you will be giving your new husband of being healthy and happier. Good luck with WW. I loved going to the meetings.

Debi: Wow, sounds like you will have corn all winter long.

Bernice: Way to go getting rid of that extra water weight. Congrats on getting back to 274! How is the exercise video going?

Debbie: Sounds like your house is sparkling clean. I am such a zombie today I could use your help. lol.

Sharon: I say put on your resume all that you do/did. You never know when something else may pop up. You can always explain to them that you are really wanting to re-enter the work force with something less stressful than you did before. Good luck hun. I hope you are not coming down with the flu.

    Julia: Hugs.

Jess: Great job on the treadmill.

Well, I guess I am caught up now. I just wanted to mention if you are lurking Walrus, please check in. You are missed very much.

    Blessings all,
    Annie
  • Annie - WOW girlfriend, you are looking so fabulous!!!! You just blow me away...

Anyway peeps, here we go - let's try this getting back at things again thing again.

Actually, I decided that at this point I need a bit more accountability to keep my on track. I don't know why, but I just do. So I joined WW tonight and I am going to try that. My BF is doing it and really liking it so far and I feel like I need to try something new and different to give me a jump start. At my weigh in tonight I was 279, although that is with clothes and in the evening, but I am still more than 30 pounds up from my lowest and I have a ways to go to get back to that elusive 100 pounds lost total. Oh well. I just have to start moving back in the right direction, learn from my mistakes and keep going forward.
  • Nancy - we've been sending you vibes missing you! It's great to see you - I so understand needing the accountability of posting here.

Once again tonight I'm completely drained - what a work week this was. normally I don't let it get to me but it sure did this week - glad it's over.

    Hugs to all,
    Carol
  • Feeling a lack of creativity...
So I'm trying to plan out some healthy meals that are realistic for someone on a budget, but I'm hitting a wall...do any of you have any favorite meals that are low-calorie/fat but still tasty? My fiance and I don't currently have the same schedule so it's a little tough for us to actually sit down together to eat during the week. That's what has gotten me in trouble a lot; since we're not sitting down for meals I usually grab something convenient/quick/cheap...in other words fast food/grab & go foods that are horrible for me! I really need some ideas!

I can't wait for my first WW meeting tomorrow! In the past I haven't wanted to go to the meetings because I felt anxious about going through this in front of other people. I've recently come to realize that I NEED that level of accountability or I will fail, once again. I also want to get some physical activity in my life but I HATE exercise, so I'd like something quiet I can put in front of the TV (and in the A/C!!). My fiance is going to buy me a Gazelle as an early b-day gift. Does anyone have one? I'd like to know what you think.

Hope everyone has a great tomorrow!

As soon as I posted this I saw the "Recipes" thread and got a TON of wonderful ideas! It's easy to find great low-fat recipes, but I found so many that didn't have too many ingredients (hence easier on the wallet) and quick and convenient, too. I can't wait to try some of them out!
  • Good Morning Peeps - I think I'm starting to feel human again - doesn't hurt that I'm sitting at home in my jammies with a nice cup of coffee rather than talking to a couple hundred people who would rather be somewhere else at 7 am.

I'm so far behind on personals I can't try to catch up from this week but want to say a big thank you hug for all the thoughts sent my way.

Catherine - I was looking through our lake pics and there is one of my DH sitting on the dock reading Curveballs - hey, we were close to Oklahoma at least. The lake isn't red though.

I wanted to post the link for the next 5k - anybody interested? We had great participation from this group the last time -

I'm looking forward to a nice day of being home - doing some cabinet/closet cleaning. Niece is having a garage sale in a few weeks so will be a great opportunity to get rid of some clutter. Several months ago Battle mentioned the clutter - overweight connection. I definitely find as I contine to release pounds that I don't want all the 'stuff" around me. I prefer clear space. I also prefer extra space in my clothes that used to be filled with "clutter" aka excess pounds.

Penny - how much water yesterday?

On that note - move your bodies, drink your water and SMILE.

    Hugs to all,
    Carol
