  • Yay, I can finally join this thread! After being stuck in the 180s since March, I finally decided to accurately calorie count and 23 days later, I went from 183 to 179.6! So my toe is just over the line for now, but I am going to work on inching in further by the end of the month, the end of the year. I haven't seen the 170s since college. And in a few more pounds, I'll have achieved some very significant milestones such as weighing less than my husband and I will no longer have an obese BMI. I'm very excited to be here, but I'm hoping not to stick around too long
  • Hey lilkel244 and all lurkers! (Come post and keep me company :-)

I whooshed a bit--down to 178.0 this morning. The drops are really motivating me and my goal is to be at 170 by my New Year's party. (Which happens to be January 3-5, but calendars are just guidelines, right?

I started this journey on January 7th, so being down 60 lbs in a year sounds great to me. I know lots of people manage it faster and I'm a bit envious, but I've made great progress and we all need to ride our own ride.

I have a couple of big difficult hurdles coming up--tonight we're going out for Vietnamese with a friend from out of town who is here on business. Friday is our Thanksgiving carry-in at work (I'm bringing a Caesar salad). Saturday, I'm having a party at our house and there is always too much food. Those 3 are all challenges--but they get progressively harder, so I just need to get through one at a time.

Hey lurkers, I'd love it if you stopped lurking and posted so we can encourage each other!
  • bethFromDayton - we posted almost at the same time yesterday! I just made it into this thread and I check the website roughly once a day. You have some amazing progress, and I hope you can achieve your goal by New Year's. I just want to get to 174 then out of the 170s.
  • Beth I am hoping to join you here soon maybe in the next week or so if I can be good 180.4 today and yesterday … but I ate off plan and the sodium monster was out of control today so not sure what I'll see on the scale in the morning.
  • Congrats gretl! We'll fight out way out of here together! It's fantastic that you've reached a weight that you haven't been since college! There's something really great about weighing less than your husband--when you get there, I bet we'll all hear you cheer from wherever you are!

When I started out, DH was 212 and I was 230. I was 177 this morning--and he's 189. He'd still like to lose more weight--but isn't quite ready to make the various sacrifices to make that possible. He looks much hotter now, though!

Although I know I could stand to lose another 50 or even 60 more pounds, I'm trying to really rejoice in how far I've come and how much smaller I am!

Do you project your weight loss ahead and try to figure out where you can get by when? I try not to, but I do it all the time! 175 by Thanksgiving, 170 by New Year's, 150 by our cruise in May. I know I'm optimistic...
  • Beth - I have given up following a schedule since I have been on this journey for 7 years already. And I would be completely thrilled if this part of my journey is sidetracked with a pregnancy. My little girl is 2 already and we would like to have another. Life tends to get in the way of my progress but I will take the good with the bad. I'm ok with how slow of a journey this has been because even though I have gained back a few times, I have never gone back to my high weight.
  • love2b150 - Did the scale move far enough yet? Weekends are killer for me so I only weigh in once a week on Fridays.
  • 179.2 this week...I was hoping for more but I'm still not 100% after being sick and it will probably be another week before my digestive system gets back to normal. Now we are getting into crunch time...Thanksgiving for me next week!
  • How is everyone doing here? I briefly stepped on the scale and saw 179 point something this morning. I'll officially weigh in on Thursday. So, Thanksgiving wasn't too bad if I didn't gain or lose, but I'm frustrated that I'm now a week behind where I would like to be. I hope everyone else hasn't lost any momentum
  • 174 as of this morning. I cannot wait to see the 160-something on the scale...that will be the weight i was when I graduated from college!! Next stop high school haha... good luck to you all
  • Time to jump in here, I'm 177.3 as of this morning, not just over the line but well in 170s land.
  • I am totally not a 30-something (40-something here) but there are dismally few 170's threads. Can I crash your thread? I'm at 177.2
  • Hey, I'll join this thread as well. I guess it could be said that I'm battling the 170's as my set point is around here. I'm 176.2 now. I have been in the 160's after a tough diet, but I was really dry then, so I haven't been in the 160's with water weight since forever.

Quote: I am totally not a 30-something (40-something here) but there are dismally few 170's threads. Can I crash your thread? I'm at 177.2
I'm pretty sure you can :-) Age is nothing but a number. Then again, the same goes for weight...
  • I'm happy to have company but I'll be happier to see you all in the "lighter" threads! I didn't have an official weight over Thanksgiving, because of the all of the food and whatnot. But I did weigh in today, and I'm proud to report 177.4! That's 1.8 pounds lost since 11/21 and it means that any gains that happened over Thanksgiving were temporary.
  • I doubt anyone will mind if a 40 something joins us, after all we're all in this together and the challenges faced by a 30 something is probably not that different to a 30 something when it comes to weight loss.
