  • I love England but i can't wait for us to get knocked out of the world cup so i dont' have to listen to it and when i'm at work i dont' have to deal with very drunk skin heads in football shirts wanting to get into my club!

you can't love them that much then
  • i hate football my reference to loving England means the country not the team. they are over paid for what they do and they provide nothing to show for it. now take the rugby team they won a world cup infact we are the world champions and most the players earn a year what some of the England football players earn a week

I hope you play like that on Sunday!!!!!!

  • Saw the thugs in Germany on the news last night, drunkenly dancing round going on about the war, with bow-up Spitfires. My dad fought in that war, my grandad in both wars - not for prats like that, though. They make me embarrassed to be English. If they stopped and thought what the men who flew those Spitfires would think of them - they should be ashamed. Apparently the Germans are dreading them turning up at Nuremburg - can see why.
  • Don't think I'll watch the news until it's all over. I hate seeing idiot thugs. I don't understand why they smash up things in England when England lose. I thought they loved England?
  • Makes you proud to be English (not!).

I feel very sorry for Germany. Other countries get away with atrocities and aren't a bit sorry yet they are still having to bloody apologise for what went on.

A german ex colleague said that their school kids all have to visit the death camps.

No, it should not be forgotten but blimey they weren't all little Hitlers.

I have enjoyed my visits to Germany and found them to be very polite.

I am sure they have their own hooligans (mainly skinheads from the old East) but we do seem to produce a goodly stock don't we???
  • Quote: For my partner, football is as close to a religion as he will ever get. And I can see why--I saw my first ever match in Preston last year when we were visiting. The atmosphere was electric!

So while I can't say at this moment that I am a die-hard fan, I will say that it is growing on me....
Are you being forced to watch Jen?
  • Quote: Are you being forced to watch Jen?
Not really, Veg---I'm getting more into it, but I'll never be rabid about it like he is.

If I can get it to post, here is a pic of me last year at my first ever match--Preston North End vs Rothram. The following week we saw PNE at home playing Cardiff. I really liked the crowd atmophere! No aggro that I could see--the stewards were pretty visible and would handle anything that could potentially brew into something bad.

I see, lags out for you next year then

I'm going to defend football fans now and say the hooligans are more often than not not interested in the games, just the fighting. Scumbags. They don't even go to the games.
  • I feel bad for the Germans too. Last time the England football team played them, the radio was making all these racist comments about them and people were phoning in to share more. I don't get how that is allowed - being rude about an entire nation IS racist, even if they are also mostly white. I have German friends, and most Germans that I have met have been either incredibly friendly and polite, or just you-know, normal.

    Sorry for the rant!

Several of the flags I saw today were mostly pink! The die had leaked out of the cross onto the background.
  • God bless football!
We're all going home early to "watch the football"

  • No mindless hooliganism on the way home then!!!!
  • DH is watching football, I'm packing to go to Australia, only FOUR MORE SLEEPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
