  • Very happy to hear the good news; and thankful that our prayers for you were answered so quickly ...

I have the exact same thing -- I have had a swollen gland in my neck for at least 15 years or more. I also had all the tests to make sure it wasn't anything more serious. Thankfully, my doctor (at the time), reassured me that it may be just be an infection or nothing, but that he wanted to check it out, to be on the safe side. Every doctor that feels it, hums & haws about it; so I tell them that I had tests done already.
  • I work in an office full of wonderful hematologist/oncologist I have been sick on and off for about 6 weeks now with a sore throat/ear infection. I take antibiotics it clears up and then a week later it comes back. The first two times were on the left side the most recent and third bout was on the right side. This one was a lot worse and I could feel a lump in my throat when trying to swallow and got food/pills stuck occasionally.

So one of my doctors who I get along with very well examined me and felt a lump in my throat/neck he ordered blood work and a CT Scan to be performed the very next day. That all turned out well and he put me on new medication, steroids, and antibiotic/steroid ear drops. I am feeling a lot better now though occasionally I still feel the sensation of chocking when I am swallowing. With the new medication he says the swelling should go down in about a week.

Crossing fingers and hoping real hard that this is OVER now!
  • So sorry to hear that you had a health scare! I'm glad it was not cancer, and that you are healing well now.
  • Glad prayers were answered and it wasn't what you feared. Its a brand new day
  • SOOOO happy to hear it wasn't what the doctors originally thought...Someones looking out for you
  • Thank you Jesus for answering our prayers! And thank you Smallsteps for letting us know how things turned out!
  • Thank you all again for your continued love and support. My doctor is going to examine me again tomorrow, but this medication treatment seems to be doing its job. I am still having that choking sensation when swallowing at times, so I am sure he is going to be referring me over to see a ENT.

All this added stress from just being sick and trying to take care of me and my family, and the steroids has really got me way off track. I was really frustrated yesterday and feeling as big as a whale. Today I am doing better with my emotions and feelings but not very happy that I have gained almost 4 pounds. Grrrrrrr
