  • Unfortunately, I'm stepping out of the exercise thread. I was doing so well but I had a death in the family and it took the wind out of my sails. Diabetes played a part in the death too. I may not be diabetic but I know I have to do better, exercise (yes I'll get back to that) and eat right (I'm doing fairly well right now).

Second day on Metformin. First day, slight tummy ache, today no such troubles.
  • I'm sorry to hear it, Nelie! Well, Astrophe posted there yesterday, maybe she'll keep me company.

I've been pretty depressed about my weight loss recently.

Boyfriend came to me last night and suggested that we start doing weight training and walking in the mornings together. This eats into our together time in the mornings, but he thinks it's worth it. He really thinks weight training will make a difference and that Pilates is not the same.

So, I told him we could start on November 1st. We're going to do it really on October 31st, since that's the Monday.

    I'll keep you all updated.

I just crappy about my general weight loss because it is sooo slow and lowering my calories more makes me feel deprived.
  • I'm back (sort of) hehe
Well I went off of the diet for a week because i was deprived of regular food so I ate pizza and pizza and pizza hehe I only gained a 1lb so I was happy about that I mean I ate like a pig. I managed to loose weight last week so thats ok. Now this is a thing i'm worried about maintaining I'm so afraid I will eat like a pig once i reach my goal ughhh

Rana- I'm sorry to hear about slow weight loss, did you ever tried a video work out? I'm doing jillian michaels video and I'm loosing additional weight without cutting out my calories you might want to try it. I bet the extra excersize with your bf will speed up your weightloss!!!
  • Thanks for the suggestion Dys. I've done them in the past, but not really a big fan of them. I need to get out of the house and have a structured setting to feel like I really pushed myself. I cheat, otherwise!

So, we'll see what happens weight wise when I start doing those weights. A friend of mine this weekend was surprised I wasn't doing weight training with weights already.
  • Hi Everyone, I recently started my weight loss journey again for the millionth time, just like you all I have PCOS and it makes it 100x harder to shed.
What tips do you guys have?

So sorry to hear about the death in your family. Diabetes is awful and we PCOS'ers have to be extra careful with what we eat etc.
I have been on Metformin for years, sometimes I fall off of it meaning I go w/o because i don't fill my prescipt in time etc. and I notice the difference immediately with the irregular bleeding, and other symptoms. So i find it is helpful in that respect.
  • My tips?

Eat whole foods. Cut out the processed stuff ASAP. Eat following the glycemic index/low carb. Eat healthy oils. Supplement. Exercise every day!
  • Yeah I don't eat low carb but do use the glycemic index as a guideline and also I eat very little processed stuff. Exercise helps as well. And lately, I've been more diligent about refined grains because even whole wheat bread is still bread.

    Thanks Rana!
I have yet to formulate a plan to exercise. Right now I am cutting calories and allowing my body to adjust to a lower intake. I'm tired all the time and somewhat irritable so I dont want to put my body through a shock of exercise just yet. I know it sounds weird but i think it works for me lol.
  • rana weight training and walking sounds really good good luck with that

update i had two letters off the hospital last week i got an appointment for another scan 22nd nov and a pre op assessment on the 21st nov im hoping if all is well with pre op assessment then they will send for me to have the procedure soon after and not have to wait until march woohoo fingers crossed x
  • I'm not disappeared! But have hands full -- Dad taken to hospital involuntary. In his Alzheimer rage he threaten to hit mom. He's being checked out now but it was a mess to deal with at the courthouse and sheriff to get him picked up involuntary.

I'm optimistic. Now that all are safe -- even dad! -- we can move on with a formal dx for the dementia.

And perhaps I can have my life back.

I've lost 5 lbs from stress. SO not the way I want to diet away PCOS poundage.

Will check in as I can.

    Hope you are all well!

    hugs
    A.
