Greek Yogurt?

  • Cally, do you have a Highland Farms or a Summerhill Market near you? Or a Loblaws?

(I'm not from Canada, but grew up in NY, not all that far from Lake Ontario, so you can call me a frequent visitor.)

Look for Liberte's Greek Style yogurt. I know that's available in Montreal, but I'm not as sure about Ontario. I think it's called Liberte Mediterranee, but it's not fat-free.

Also look for one that's made in Ste-Eugene, Ontario called Skotidakis. Make sure it says Traditional Greek strained yogurt.

Siggi's is another brand. (Have not tried this yet but they've been handing it out at the grocery store near me.)

But I think Summerhill Market may carry Fage, which is the best of the Greek yogurts by far.
  • Thanks Saef, I am far far far from Highland Farms and Summerhill. The GTA has the most amazing selection of grocery and food markets compared to the rest of the province. I am just a hop across the St. Lawrence river in Ontario, but not very close to Toronto unfortunately.

I did find some Liberte 0% greek yogurt this weekend, vanilla yum! Found it in a Metro (formerly A&P) store in a little podunk town I was visiting, of all places. They actually had quite the selection of greek yogurts. I have not even seen 0% in my local Loblaws!
  • I just tried greek yogurt for the first time today. I mixed plain with 1 splenda and some cinnamon and 1/2 cup blueberries and it was really good!
  • I eat it for the protein, it's also lower in sugar than most of the other yogurts. I don't eat meat, so the greek yogurt is nice to get some protein in. I also like the creamy texture, with some fruit it tastes like dessert to me.
  • Cally, glad you succeeded in your quest for Greek yogurt.

I just tried a new combo today: I sprinkled Fage 0% with Trader Joe's Pumpkin Pie Spice -- which is a mixture of spices, including cinnamon but also nutmeg, clove & allspice -- and Splenda. And it was seriously good. Also, I like the idea of getting more pure spices into my diet.
  • Yumo, I am going to try the pumpkin pie spice and splenda tomorrow....

That does sound good. I will try it tomorrow.
