FINE, SO I SCREWED MY DDs!!!!!
I named my first one Ginny b/c I wanted to name her after my mother and I thought
Virginia would be a rotten thing to do to her. It was a little old fashioned in 1988 and even Mom had enough with the "virgin" crap. Since Mom was often called Ginny I didn't realize people out there would have such a hard time pronouncing it. Honestly, I don't get how folks come up with the "guinea" thing, but I've gotten calls from school to discuss my DD "Jennifer" never "Virginia". I swear some people just don't pay attention.
My youngest DD is Jonnie Lee. Her father's name is John Edward and one day when I was pregnant I looked at his check and saw John E. *******. We thought I was going to have a boy and I didn't want to do the Jr. or II thing so we figured Johnny Lee(a variation of mine) would be nice. When the 7 mth ultrasound showed that the baby had a brain rather than a penis

we decided to just changed the spelling. I KNEW 2 GIRLS WITH THE NAME JONNIE, OK. Funny thing, a boy named John that she went to daycare with at about 5 told his parents not to call him Johnny anymore b/c that is a "girl's name."
Now my oldest goes by Liona and my youngest is slowly changing to Lee. I really don't mind. I hated my name also so whatever. I do think it is really cool that both of them now sound like they are honoring me with them.
