  • i admit, me and my neighbors have been wanting to try the applebottom jeans and we're all a variety of sizes. one is short and had GBS and has lost over 120# so far and is in a 16 now i think (was a 28 i think). anothe neighbor is about my height and is a 14 (but doesnt look it), and i wear an 8 (at least at old navy - my mothership of clothes-land)....i swear by old navy. been wearing their clothes since 1999...and never tried any other brand of jeans....but looking into other options to see if any can fit better than my O.N.
  • Quote: thats crazy! but i do agree i love lane bryant pants! they have 3 different colors that determine your body shape. awesome for me cause i have no butt (really prolly the only mixed girl without one) but most pants are all saggy in the butt and those are great. get on the web page. i weigh about the same as you and im in there size 5. if you get one the webpage and put in your measurements (the new-right fit jeans) if you are heavy on the bottom i would try the blue. Good Luck!
You are not the only mixed girl without one! Haha i'm mixed...i had a small butt...now i've got pretty much no butt. It sucks. My mom is white and she's packing more than i am.
  • I used to teeter at 135 through high school and college, and I was mostly a size 10. Occasionally a size 8 depending on the store. After gaining 20+ pounds, I started pushing 12. I remember shopping at the Limited in 2000 with a friend who was the same height as me, and she got really excited because Limited was going to start carrying size 0. In my head I was thinking "geez, we're the same height, and she is a size 0 and I am a size 0 with a 1 on the front of it." Body types can be wacky!
  • It is so hard to tell. My MIL and I both weigh within 10lbs of each other however she is 5'9 and I am 5'2. She holds all her weight in her butt and boobs and I hold all my weight in the middle ( I am defintely what they refer to as an apple). But somehow we still wear the same size pants. Sizing is so confusing anymore especially nw that stretch is found in everything including denim.
  • yes i love my stretch old navy jeans...they seem to hold their shape better than the regular jeans, not sure how but i love it. i have more booty than some i guess so i cant/dont wear those ultra low rider jeans, they are made for those without much butt and i cant fit into those...so i like the mid rise. enough to cover but not the old high waters style.....
  • It All Depend If You Have Hipps You Will Be A Size 14 And If You Dont A 10 Or 11 It All Depends On The Bottom Part If You Haver Good Or You Dont. Because Whern I Was 160 I Was A Size 14 Juniors But I Have Lots Of Hips Soo When You Get There Good Luck
  • I'm a buttless wonder, but at 217 I was wearing a 13/14 in pants and an XL in shirts, 18lbs down and I'm still wearing a very baggy 13 and the XL shirts still fit well. My sister is about 155 and she's roughly a ten.
  • Oh, and I have a friend who is 5'2 and 120lbs and she wears a 9/11 in pants and a small or xsmall is shirts.
  • You can find Apple Bottom Jeans on Ebay frequently they are designed by the rapper Nelly.
I think they are pretty well cut perhaps slightly on the large side so you might want to try a size smaller than usual.
I remember myself at 160lbs I was a size 12 that was a long time ago though. I have heard clothes are cut larger than they were even 5 years ago so perhaps now at 160 i would be more like a 10.

Seriously. I can wear a size 12 from Gap now, but I have this old pair of 14's from Gap that I bought maybe 5 years ago that are still uncomfortably tight.

Yeah but those are JR sizes (they get the odd #s), totally different than misses or womens. Generally I add 3, so I'm a size 10 misses, a size 13 in JR fit me the same.

Do they have different materials. Pants that are labeled stretch or contain lycra etc tend to fit bigger where as 100% cotton does not stretch and will fit more tightly.
  • Yeah, I think you're right, the old ones are 100% cotton, and the new ones are a little stretchy.
