What I love about myself today: My determination.
  • good for you, tabathana!
  • OK, got to the gym yesterday for the first time in a while since I'd been sick. Overdid it a bit and had a headache afterward but feel OK now. Weather is horrible here. So hot and muggy. Wish I had air-conditioning. Anyhow, things are just as bad as ever with no work and no money but I'm just trying to stay above the surface. Gotta keep tellilng myself I can do this and things will turn around. For now, my weight is the LEAST important thing to me, but it does help to know I am in control of one little thing in my life.

    No sugar 8 days done
    No booze 8 days done
    No cigs 8 days done!!

  • Weight at another low today. Down to 69 kg. That's still 152 lbs but I'm nearing that flip number of 150....closer to 100 than 200!

today's love: I look awesome with make up on
  • Hi all. Red, way to go. Glad you found the positive in that. Tab - nice love for the day. That is a challenge I should try - I too often focus on the negatives. Or let a few negatives overshadow everything else. Good choice.

I really need to get back to business. I let the work trip followed by holiday weekend throw me off. I did catch up on sleep, which is very good. And had relax time. but eating is a big problem. Saturday morning my stove went out. Can't cook without it, so doing more eating out. That was followed by balancing my checkbook and finding a large error NOT in my favor (and not sure how it happened, since I balance it monthly), losing my sister's house key, and slcing my finger while making a salad I decided to eat my frustrations, instead of beating them out on my boxing bag. Bad call. So, back to business. Glad I have you all for support.

Michelle, Stephanie, Yorkie - how are you all doing? And anyone else I missed . Hope you are doing well, but don't forget to write

    tab, keep it going!

jolly, it's not, as I understand it, about focusing on the positive as there often is none there except with irrelevant stuff. It's about refusing to focus on the crap that's there, which makes it increase. I am trying to ignore the crap, which is often why I do better when I don't talk about things....thus, the periodic silence. And, it's not just about keeping a positive attitude, it's about taking ACTION in a direction that gets you where you want to go. So, it's a whole lot of work and perhaps that's why it's so hard. I find my biggest obstacle is just not getting bummed though and being tired/exhausted is the worst thing! I try to STOP thinking when things are rough. Nothing good comes when you're sick or tired on top of the rest.
    Best of luck!
  • No soda or frappes - 3 days done, both pauses left
5 servings fruit/veggies - 3 days done, both pauses left.

I would think of it more as keeping it in perspective, Red, but whatever works. Good job ignoring the crap.

Hopefully my stove is fixed tomorrow, so I can get back to healthier cooking. Have a good night all

  • Hi all

No sodas or frappes: day 4 done, 2/2 pauses left
5 servings fruit/veggies per day: day 4 done, 2/2 pauses left

I am so excited. My stove was fixed, and I could cook my own dinner! I made a stir fry, and it tasted soooo good. Tonight might end up being a "moving" experience though. The TOPS chapter I belong to does a "no-no" food each week that we should try to avoid. This week it is ice cream. I decided to splurge then on a bunch of fresh fruit (more than the usual bananas and apples), and made a fruit dip. While it isn't perfect, it is fairly low in calories and fat. Whew, did I indulge

Michelle - impressive challenges. Good luck. Everyone else - hope to hear from you soon! Keep it up.
  • Red - Glad to hear the scale is moving in the downward direction. I wish it was for me. It will from now on.

Jolly - So happy that you have a stove again!!! Stir fry dinner sounds delish!! Hopefully, the fruit didn't cause too much "movement", except when it comes to lowering the numbers on the scale.

Last night, I went to the gym for the first time in over a week. I did the pushups, planks, and both types of crunches. And it was great to be Zumba-ing again. My back got a little twingey, which simply reminded me it's time to make an appointment for a cortisone shot with all the festivals and fairs (read: lots of walking) coming up. Tonight and for the next two Wednesdays, my community is starting dance classes to learn Michael Jackson's Thriller because at the end of the month there's going to be a gathering to try and break the Guiness World Record. So I'm going to the Thriller class, and possibly an advanced Zumba class after.

  • Morning all Had to jump in here quick. I made a bad choice for breakfast - primarily just because I had my stove and could. Will make up for it later.

But. . . (drumroll please), I decided to push myself a bit on this morning's jog. I did two miles, and only walked the first 3 blocks, the last 2 blocks, and 1 block in the middle. I feel very proud of myself. I still don't want to add more distance until I get a bit more weight off my knees, but am so happy I tried it and succeeded. It was really hot and humid, even at 5am.

    Have a great day all.
  • Great job on the jogging, Jolly!! I'm VERY impressed, especially in the heat and humidity!! You ROCK, girlfriend!!! I'm so proud of you!!
