  • Carol Sue It looks like you are going to catch up with me as we weigh almost the same. I've got to get this under control again. Weight this morning was 172.8 lbs. I know it was due to eating the pizza and it should come back down tomorrow or the next day.

    We will see how you DH does with just playing scratch offs. I think he means it when he says but then he starts thinking it might get better and just has to try one more time. I am sure it is frustrating for him.

    We are having pork chops today. I wasn't hungry for breakfast so I had a protein shake. Right now I am eating dinner with a protein shake for breakfast and supper. That is at least keeping me stable but I need to get these 10 to 15 lbs back off that I've gained. I think those lbs are what makes my back hurt because I can't carry this much weight any more and function. The nice thing is my bp is great and FBG was 111 so that could be better. I used to eat to lower FBG and may need to go back to eating that way again.

  • I had potty issues today. I listened to Dr. Westman today and learned that adding MCT oil, coconut oil etc to your coffee etc can cause these issues. I'm decided that his way of doing the Atkin's woe is very good and I will go back to following his plans advice.

    I had the protein shake this morning with the EVOO in my coffee and started with issues soon after. I had a pork chop and salad for dinner. Didn't eat anything else today. Starting OP tomorrow and hope to feel better soon.
  • Weight back down to 170.4 lbs this morning. FBG 112. I can't remember what bp was, but it was excellent. Plan today will be 34 total carb grams today. I had 2 eggs, 2 sl bacon and shredded cheese on the eggs for breakfast this morning along with 2 c of coffee. No oil in the coffee. Dinner will be a salad with 1/2 salmon fillet. I'll take shredded cheese and bake them to eat instead of the crackers I like. Sticking with low carb foods without having keto or low carb desserts.

    It feels good to have a plan again and I look forward to turning this 1st day into a successful and turning it into a week and a month. I pray getting this weight back off will help me get rid of this back pain that I am having.

  • Sleep was good, 8+ hours. Still with the benedryl. I tried half andd it was ok. Scale is up 1.2 to 175.4. I was down to 165 after my heart procedure. so I would like to get down there again.
  • Carol Sue It is strange how we feel the same as I walk through this ordeal. I got down in the 150s after chemo although I never got down to my goal of 150 lbs. I would like to at least get back down to that weight again.

    I had a good day today. I ended up with 2 meals and 18 total carbs. If I can keep things going like this, I just might see that my goal of 150. I'm following Dr. Westman's plan which is called ADAPT. It is basically the Atkins as he teaches it. I bought his book on kindle titled End the Carb Confusion.

    The reason I got the book is because he says there are so many different ways to do keto these days especially online. He says you don't have to use all the gadgets or special foods such MCT oils or coconut oil in your coffee etc. He says if you add oils that your body will deal with that before it deals with the fat on your body. He says you get enough fat in your food and cooking without using extra things he says his clients in NC can't afford. In stead of saying Atkin's Induction, he just calls it Phase 1, 2 and 3. Phase 1 is 20 grams carbs daily and that is total without subtracting fiber. So I'm doing Phase 1.



  • This is day 2 back OP. Weight stayed the same at 170.4 lbs. which I think is good starting low carb/keto. I didn't intend to do keto but so far it is just falling in place that way. I had eggs, sausage and cheese with my coffee. Not sure how long I will do 20 grams but will do it long enough get rid of cravings for sweets. FBG was 100 and bp 117/52. So this is the way to go for me. I hope I can make this a lifestyle woe. I don't want to keep the carbs at 20 g but would like to eventually bring it up to 50 g.

    Right now I'm in a salad mood and the only change at dinner is the protein. I add my protein to my salad and make it a one meal dish. Today will be chicken breast. My total carbs today will be 18 g.

  • Good sleep last night without Benedryl. I want to take half but I forgot. The only difference is I dont fall back to sleep after getting up around 4 for the bathroom.

    The scale is back down to 174.2. The past 2 days I have had potty issues that seem to be caused by something im eating at breakfast. Maybe too much fat.

    My other issue is ongoing without much change.
  • I got good sleep again last night but I did take half a Benadryl. I think I will do that for a while towean myself off it. Sleep should come naturally.

    Scale is down .4 to 173.2. So happy to see the number trickle down. I want to be thin! I want my collar bones to show. I want to have Ozempic face without taking Ozempic.

    Im hungry for wings.
  • Weight down 2 lbs today to 168.4. FBG was 97 and bp 100/55. I am very happy with that. I ended yesterday with carb grams between 20 and 30. Dr. Bernstein who was a Type 1 diabetic allowed 30 grams instead of 20 so I may use that. It has been quite a while since I have had a good weight loss like this. It gives me the incentive to keep going.

    Carol Sue I love chicken wings and will put those on my grocery list. I think Congratulations on .4 loss. I know it is recycled calories just as mine are, but I'm so thankful for any loss regardless of what it is. I know you are too. I've been taking a tramadol or Advil or Tylenol at night to sleep and today was the first time that I was able to wake up without pain. I don't want to do it for long, but I need the sleep. I can't take it the day before going anywhere.

    DH left me a note that he wants to go to the store today, but I don't want to go anywhere and I don't want any takeout foods today. If he wants to go, he can go without me or I will ride with him and sit in the car and read while he shops.

  • My sleep was ok. I thought I was awake all night but Fitbit says I slept light for 6 hours.

    Blood sugar was ok for me. I got my second bag of Allulose. A man I watched on YouTube is mixing it in equal amounts of wster and drinking it. He is taking it for glucose control. I still haven't found any information for weight loss, only that it can help with weight loss. I want details.
  • Weight up 1.4 lbs and FBG 102 and bp was kind of low. One thing I do know from Dr. Westman is weight fluctuates. So all is good. Sleep was do good I overslept.

    Carbs today are 35 grams. I am trying to keep them low, but I also have to keep my protein up. I haven't been able to keep my fiber up so far. This takes time to get this the way I need to do it for my health needs.

    Carol Sue I too am interested in how allulose helps with weight loss.

  • Good sleep last night without Benedryl. Scale up to 177. I hope its fluid and it comes back down. I could take Lasix to bring it down but that would not be true weight IMO
  • I stumbled upon a woman doctor on youtube who had cancer and has been cancer free (in remission) for 6 yrs. She has a program called cancer freedom and she teaches you how she ate to be cancer free and hopefully stay in cancer remission. I learned a lot from her. I always believed if you can find someone who has been successful in something I need to solve, then I can learn a lot from them. I am going to switch to her way of eating. She stresses the very thing my oncologist told me to do... be sure and get enough protein and fiber. She also says a lot about the importance of exercise to hopefully keep cancer from coming back.

    I don't know if I will join her program or not.
  • Everything pretty much the same as yesterday. Weight steady at 169.8 lbs. FBG 112 and bp 112/55.

    The way the doctor ate who has been in remission from cancer for over 6 yrs seems to have eaten low carb Mediterranean style. She recommends 30 g protein for each meal and half you plate should be veggies and she also recommends several fruits that she says causes cancer to die when you eat it. I know now why I crave certain fruits. I bought her recipe book. With my credits on my kindle, I got it for $2.99. She eats a lot of salads and of course, I love salads. The 2 foods she says never eat or not often is processed foods and alcohol. I don't drink so that isn't a problem for me, but I will have to give up my bacon. So I will start making omelets again.

    Carol Sue I think her plan is more along the guidelines of what the heart and cancer diet is.

    Headed for infusion soon. DH will go to the store while I get my treatment.
