Thanks for the clarification Linda. I'll have to ask in January about that. Doesn't make a lot of sense to me -- personally I lost all of my weight doing core. I'll probably still have yogurt for a snack -- maybe I'll just think of it as an extended lunch!
Our leader does give alot of non WW product suggestions. I was glad to see that the cold cereal is now basically what I had been doing - checking lables for whole grains with no sugar. My grapenuts can not be "legally" core.
I guess it all comes down to what works for you.
I'm truly disappointed that Cheerios are not a core food, but there is added sugar, it's my favorite cereal. Oh well. I can have it and use up flex points if I want it, I guess. I also might switch to flex for a week or so at some point after the holidays are long over to give my body a "rest" and to get some of the cravings out of my system? Have any of you done something like that?
I blew it the last two days, though, as I have had ALL my flex points and still have two more days to go before my journal ends. I'm going to have to be especially careful and stay on track. I was "starving" yesterday afternoon and kept bugging my husband to leave, as we were supposed to be eating out. I saw a box of oyster crackers (a favorite snack of mine) out sitting beside the computer where one of the kids had left it. Before I knew it, handfuls of these crunchy little crackers were being shoved in my mouth. I put a stop to it, finally, then had a glass of water and 1/2 banana, but I had probably eaten the equivalent of another MEAL in the end. I hate waiting on other people to eat, if I am "starving" then I need to eat then, not on someone else's schedule. I blew it, but it could have been worse I guess?
Two good things are on my side, now that all my flex points are gone and I have three more days to go, though. Firstly, my husband leaves on a business trip today. Normally, I would say that is a bad thing, as I miss him when he is away, but he is a bad influence on my eating. He is the furthest thing from WW with his diet. Honestly, I don't know how he stays as thin as he is. At any rate, his eating influences me and it's awfully hard to stay on track on weekends, when he is home more. That's exactly why I blew it yesterday and on Friday night. Plus, I WAIT for him to eat, and when he is away, I eat when I want to.
The other thing that is going to be on my side for the next two days is that I am grocery shopping this afternoon. I'm going to write up a meal plan, totally CORE for the next three days and buy those foods so they are all planned, in the house and ready to go. I'll buy some extra fruits and veggies for snacks and I'll be hoping to find a good CORE dessert that I can make that will be very satisfying.
So, dear friends, do you all have any great CORE dessert suggestions that will save me until weight in on Tuesday? I want something that is kind of comfort food feeling, maybe warmed up when you eat it? Or chocolate, or both as maybe I'll make two things so that I can be sure of not being tempted with other things in the house that my kids and husband "need" to have on hand.
Living in a household where there are non-WW people and having their foods around makes like tough, but if I have a plan I can do it, right?
Linda
Linda, check out our recipe board. There are many completely Core recipes out there that I love. One favorite is a caramel apple dessert with FF ricotta and butterscotch pudding and apples and a cannoli cream that is quite tasty. I've eaten the trifle one with warmed cherries and splenda over white chocolate pudding. There is another where you make a warm cornmeal concoction and serve warm frozen blueberry compote over the top. How about crustless pumpkim pie with FF cool whip? It's delicious and it's a veggie or fruit? with a milk serving.
I love cheerios too. Sadly, they still aren't Core.
How about keeping fruit around to grab when the family isn't ready to eat when you are. No one has control when they are starving. Don't let them ruin your good week.
