  • Quote: Courtnie -- yep, I'm knocking at the Onederland door! Though I have learned it's not Wonderland -- things don't get perfect when you get there!

I AM excited! I am thrilled by my increased energy and stamina... not to mention the smaller clothes. One year ago I was into size 30!!! And now a 16W (18 reg).

Wonder where I'll be a year from now??!
Girl, let me tell ya, it's a wonderful feeling to step on that scale and see your weight begin with a 1 instead of a 2
  • I can't wait to see it!! But on my analog scale it won't really look very different!!

Official weigh in Monday -- I stepped on the scale and am up a pound... TOM maybe... I'll get there!
  • No one really started noticing my weight loss until really recently when it got warm enough and all of my old summer clothes were WAY to big and I went out and got a couple of new outfits.
Point is that I was still wearing my old clothes even though they were big and bulky. But, when I got some outfits that fit better and were not hanging off of me that when I started getting all the comments!
After 30 lbs gone I bet your clothes are getting too big so congratulate yourself for your lose by buying yourself something that fits better and see if that helps!
Congrats on your 30 lbs!!! Thats great!
  • I had lost around 40 pounds before most people started noticing... then all at once a lot of people do! One person even said "wow that was really fast wasn't it?" Of course no it wasn't... just didn't really become that noticeable until that point.
  • Quote: I started at 234 lbs. and it took losing 30 lbs. before anyone really noticed. I could tell the difference myself especially in my legs, hips and face. Sometimes people do notice and are afraid to say anything.. Keep up the great work and everyone will soon notice.
Lilybelle... you started off pretty much in the same predicament as me. I am 22 and my heaviest weight was 248lbs. I started on june 1st of this year.. so today it has been 1 month and 5 days. I have lost 15 lbs.. so im now 233lbs. My goal is 150 for right now. Im sure once I get down there I will want to tweek myself to 145, or 140 or something.. but im just wondering.. what all did you do to lose the weight? I have bought a bike and am biking to work (about 15 minutes each way) and taking the stairs at work. I am eating healthier... drinking 2litres of water each day, and walking/swimming a couple times a week as well. im wondering if im not doing enough? Im happy with my 15 lbs of weight loss.. so i know what im doign is working. i guess what im wondering is how long it will take me at this rate... what did you do that worked so well? GOOD PICS by the way you look sooo much younger!
Also: when you lost the weight did you have lots of excess skin? I've heard this happens and I'd almost rather stay fat.. im so scared that will happen.. but im hoping the fact that im young will stop that.
    Thanks!
  • I'm so glad that I am not the only one with this problem. I have lost 30lbs and no one notices. I had a breakdown just the other day and started crying and whining to my husband that I should give up because no one notices. We had a family dinner for Father's Day and I was so excited because I just knew that someone would comment and did they? NOOOO! I saw a friend at the grocery store the other day that I haven't seen in awhile and she had lost a lot of weight and I told her how good she looked. Did she notice my a weight loss? NOOOO! My husband doesn't even notice but I figure that's because he sees me everyday. I guess I've worked so hard that I want everyone to comment. I can tell a big difference and that's all that matters in the long run.
  • Maybe your lifestyle change and decision to lose weight was so subtle ... they didn't know you were trying to lose weight. Or possibly ... I do this with my mom (she had bariatric surgery 1/05) ... starting at 560lbs and now at 350lbs ... and I see her ... alot ... and it didn't dawn on me that my mom lost soooo much weight until I saw a picture of the day before her surgery ... I just cried ... as long as you feel it ... that should be all that matters ... keep going ... they will notice soon enough ....
  • Congrats on your loss!
It may seem odd to you, but I didn't want anybody saying anything. I wanted to quietly lose weight, not talk about it, then try to live my life in a slimmer body w/o anybody making a big deal about it. Hahaha I wish I could throw some of the comments your way! You can have ALL of them!
It could very well be that people DO notice, but that you would react in a way that someone like me would react. hahaha
  • In the past I've lost 20 lbs. and no one noticed-not even my husband! I thought..here I am so big no one even notices 20 lbs. gone! However, a 32 lb. loss had eveyone noticing. So your "point of noticing" may be just a few lbs. more.
Unfortunately I gained it all back plus more but I am new here , ready for another attempt, and hoping to be encouraged to stay motivated at 3FC.
  • AGR - first - CONGRATULATIONS on getting to ONEDERLAND!!!

A couple of people who are really into being supportive mentioned my weight loss when I hit about 10% of my body weight lost, but not too many. I suspect it takes about 20% before it's really obvious.

Encourage DH to wear new, well-fitting clothes so that his folks can't miss it.

    Enjoy the visit.

    Sue
  • 30 lbs on your small stature, I'd have thought it would be really obvious....I lost 35 lbs and not a word....Most where uncomfortable I think. I had to bring it up to let them know I was aware how fat I am.
