  • I don't drink much milk either. I drink skim. I was just curious how much you all were drinking on a daily basis.
  • im actually now drinking whole milk.. *cringe* i know! But skim milk was in my mother's house for the past 11 years.. and Brian is the one with money, so hes buying the groceries.. hence, he buys the milk, and its whole. I don't mind it really though.. I just use a little with my cereal. Considering I never ate breakfast regularly until I moved here, I will take the trade0off.. I know how good it is for you!
  • I used to drink 1 or 2% milk but my doctor told me Skim would be best because its got the same ammount of calcium without the fat and extra calories. Ive been drinking skim milk for a long time now and im used to the taste, whole milk is almost too thick for me now.
  • I don't like fully fat-free dairy products... There's not that much fat in them, and I eat so low-fat most of the time, that I find it starts to affect things like my skin and hair and, well, digestive processes when I reduce the fat in my diet *that* much. If there's skim in the house, I drink even less milk...... If it's possible to get less!
  • Quote: I just started taking calcium pills - I take two every morning even if I have some yogurt or something. I want all the calcium I can get - it's good for you and I don't want to lose my bones
Don't do that! If you take both calcium tablets at the same time, you may as well just flush half the bottle down the toilet I know the bottle probably says to take 2, but most calcium pills are 600mg each, and your body can't absorb more than 500-600mg at one time, so if you take both at the same time, one of those pills just goes straight, umm, through you You should either only take 1 and get the rest of your calcium from food throughout the day, or you should take the second one later in the day so your body will absorb it. Don't ya love how the bottle doesn't say anything about that? Evil companies wanting you to just keep buying more...
  • Quote: Thinking of drinking a substance made to feed a baby cow has always kind of skeeved me out for some reason.
I stopped drinking milk about a 8 months or so ago...for the exact same reason...it just seems really gross when you actually think about it. Then I start thinking about why we have cow milk instead of other animals milk and the whole thought process leaves me sick....it's funny because I used to drink milk alll the time. Now, I stick to soy milk.
  • I keep skim in the fridge for cereal and cooking but I rarely drink milk anymore. I used to drink it constantly but I'm not really into it anymore.
  • With all of us here basically having sworn off milk, I wonder how the dairy companies stay in business? Must be Daisy and her giant glasses of milk keeping it all together!
