Ammi – Since I am on my gadget kick, I have been thinking about getting one of those hand held body fat analyzers. That way you can not only see the scale number, but if there is no change you can find out if there has been a change in your body composition. They run about $30 or so, and I am thinking they might be worth it for those times when the scale isn’t moving but you can feel yourself making progress. Way to go on keeping going with the exercise even though you didn’t feel like it. That is great!
Countess – I don’t know what your scale is like, so this might be a stupid suggestion, but who knows. You said you stand on the base and the display is on the wall. Could you try putting some type of larger surface on the floor – such as putting a board down on top of the scale and adjusting for that added weight? If your weight is distributed more evenly it might be more accurate. Don’t know – just a thought.
Vicki – Way to go on being over half way to your goal!!! I think that deserves some progress pictures!
Kayley – Way to go cleaning out your room and finding that 2x shirt. Very cool.
Lilion – I can’t believe the people at your work are so insensitive and rude! I don’t know what to say, except next time don’t eat any of their snacks on snack day. Boycott!
Brandnewme – Dental surgery is no fun. Sorry to hear your family is being troublesome too. Hope you can find some quiet time to yourself.
Tashabella – I read somewhere (not sure where – I should remember my references!) that most people who lose weight and keep it off do so by taking a plan and modifying it to fit their individual needs. Hope you find the right combination for you.
Sherry, Steph and Andrea –

to all of you!
Steph – I am sorry to hear about your brother in law – that is horrible. Regarding “I do hit slumps where I'll eat something and just blow it for weeks.” It is definitely time to turn off the black and white thinking. I think so many of us get caught up in this all or nothing mentality of being “good” and “bad”. If we eat something we feel that we shouldn’t, then we beat ourselves up and get caught up in an ugly cycle. Allow yourself to not be perfect and to make mistakes. If you eat something, you eat it. No big deal. Just get right back on plan next meal. You can do it!!
Amy – Sorry to hear you are having money troubles and need to work more hours at a job you don’t like. Money doesn’t buy happiness, but not having it can sure make things miserable.
I used my new heart rate monitor and it was pretty cool. You strap on this band around your chest under your breasts and that is what takes your heartbeat. If you do buy one, make sure to check the size of the band. Then the band either transmits to a watch or it can transmit directly to the exercise equipment. It worked, but on the elliptical I couldn’t figure out how to get the readout to stay on heart rate instead of level. I’m sure I’ll figure it out next time. I was albe to stay at 2.5 the whole time tonight and I was right under 140 bpm. My stamina is definitely increasing!
I weigh in tomorrow and I am hoping for something, even if it is just a pound. We’ll see. I am still having some water retention issues, although it is getting a bit better.
