When we lived in the US, we got all our friends and relatives to send us tea - it's light so the postage isn't as bad as you'd think! I nearly barfed the first time I had iced tea - which is basically the invention of the devil! It's becoming more common over here now, though, eurgh.

The only American food I missed when we came back to the UK was Reeses - but then I found Woolworths sell them, so that was sorted. You can get Oreos in the UK now, too - I always thought they were like those charcoal dog biscuits. I lost loads of weight in the US because the chocolate was like our cooking chocolate and the biscuits inedible, ditto cakes which were basically lard with fake cream like we used to have in the 60s here, and sugar on. (We lived in the Mid West where all the bakeries were Bavarian, bizarrely).

Hold on now....sweet iced tea is the "wine of the south" in America! But you are right--my English partner and other English friends think the idea of iced tea is disgusting!

Well, I agree to a point about iced tea. If it's not done right it IS disgusting, but you have to doctor it up a bit with some lemon and some splenda or sugar and then, nothing is more refreshing!! Especially on a hot summer day. My gramma used to always have a big glass canning jar of it in the fridge for my grampa to drink when he came in off the farm! They both lived well into their 90's, so how's THAT for a testimonial to "Drink your tea! Its good for you!" My DH got me an iced tea maker off eBay and it is the coolest contraption. I pour in my water, put in three teabags in the bin, fill the container with ice and in about five minutes I have a good two quarts of fresh-brewed iced tea! Fabulous!

I used to make up a jug of fruity herbal tea in a jug with ice and lemon and orange slices. Lovely on a hot day!
