  • I exercise for at least an hour in the morning doing a combination of elliptical / weight lifting or elliptical / yoga. I also do an extra 15 minutes on the elliptical in the evenings in hopes of reving up my metabolism before dinner

I find that I feel so much better, if I start the day with exercise and it also helps me to stay on track with what I eat. However, getting up is always a challenge as I am not a morning person.

  • Guess I'm the lone wolf that still exercises at night. I wake up around 5:15/5:30, go to work from 7 until 5:30 at night, get home around 6:00 or 6:15, eat dinner by 7:00 and get on the treadmill around 8:00/8:15. It seems to work for me. Plus I know that if I have a huge dinner I won't work out so I try to keep the food under control for my evening meal.

I don't work Friday, Sat, or Sunday so I usually run in the afternoon these days.

BTW - I've never had a problem falling asleep after a good run at night
  • No, you're not alone Emily. I go to the gym right from work, so my exercise time is usually 5:15 to 6 or 6:30 depending on what I do. In nicer weather, I just the gym to change and do my cardio outdoors. The gym is conveniently situated at the junction of two bike/walk trails. I'd like to be a morning exerciser, but I've learned in 60+ years of living that I'm just am not programmed that way.
  • Monday and Wednesdays I work out in the morning (9-10am), and Tuesday and Thursdays I do kickboxing in the evenings (7-8pm).
  • I exercise first thing in the morning, around 6 to 6:15 am. Its the only time I have because after that I am going 150 mph for the rest of the day!
  • I've been working out in the afternoons when I get my youngest down for a nap, but I know I have to drag myself out of bed and start getting it done in the mornings. Everything would be so much easier if I did. I home school so that plays a factor, and I don't like to shower and dress until I've worked out, so I'm in sweats until mid afternoon, which doesn't help the self esteem, or the fact that I feel like my clothes are "loose" so controlling the urge to eat is not as strong as if my jeans were snug. I've been saying for three weeks that I've got to do it...I need to stop saying it and just do it.
  • I get up and do yoga most mornings, but I run after work 4 days a week, because thats when the weather is better, and the sun is up, only time that changes is during August, when its over 100 here, and even in the dark its still in the upper 80's then I get up and run in the dark at 4.
