Well, I set there looking at the Biology Exam and was just dumbfounded. There were only 30 questions, and I ended up leaving half of them blank. I couldn't even attempt an answer.

There were a few students who must have felt the same way. One guy turned in his paper after about 10 minutes. There are a bunch of students in that class that are also in my History class, and they all said there were a lot they couldn't answer either. There was just too much information covered in this unit (5 chapters) and she wouldn't give us any idea what to study for. And this is supposed to be a Biology class for the NON scientist. ARGH!

I have an undeclared major at the community college because I'm not worrying about getting an associates there. When I transfer to the University of Texas at Dallas next summer, I will be an English/Humanities major, and will get a teaching certificate to teach 4th-8th grade. I plan to teach for a couple of years while I work on my Masters, and then hope to be a guidance counselor in a school.

I've been doing really good the last few days about not snacking. I'm just doing a lot of sewing. That keeps my hands busy and my mind off food.

It's Wednesday afternoon and what a foul day it is. The winds are high and the rain is pelting down. Oh well, I am just lucky I don't have to go out in it. Not like my daughter Caleigh, she has to get home from school in it. She will come home like a drowned rat I bet!!

Everything is back on track totally after my 4 point over eating comfort thing the other night. It's funny, but even as I was eating that night I thought well this is just a one off. I had no intention of stopping my diet. So I am pretty pleased about that.

Teenal - hello and a big welcome to you. How wonderful to live in the bush in QLD. Actually I take that back, I should say, how wonderful to live in QLD. I spent 16 years in Australia in NSW when I was growing up and I loved it there. But the one thing that terrified me was bush fires. So although I envy you living in such a great place, you can keep the bush LOL.

When I started dieting a mere 6 weeks ago I was 329 lbs, so we pretty much started at the same weight. I know what you mean about how your weight is causing you health problems and at 37 that's not on. I too am 37. I have had a few surgeries in the past 3 years, but I realised that more than recovering from them, my main disability is my size. It's not because I have had surgery that I can't bend over and put my own shoes on or tie my own laces. It's not because of surgery that I can't go to a theme park with my family and get on the rides. It's all because of how fat I am. I got on the scales 6 weeks ago, a spur of the moment decision just to see what I weighed because my back had been killing, and my feet and legs hurt so much. I knew I must have gained. I was 329 lbs, when the heaviest I had been before that was 307. It was a big shock, and I realised if I didn't do something about it NOW then I would carry on getting bigger and bigger until it killed me. So I started dieting, and I found this wonderful website. Without the support of everybody here I don't think I would be doing as well as I am.

I follow the WW point plan, and for exercise I clean the house an hour a day. I will eventually get around to proper exercise but am not able to do that just yet. I don't drink any soda/pop/coke etc, but do drink plenty of water and cordial.

I hope you will post often and that you will soon see the lbs coming down.

Andrea - It sounds like you have the right idea with just eating healthily for now, and perhaps when you are more used to that, you might want to try a more regimented diet such as WW or Slimmers World etc. Good luck with it all, and please do post here often and let us know how you are doing. Oh and my fave snacks are bananas, WW yogurt, raw carrots, low fat crisps, Fruit sticks, and Rich Tea biscuits.

Futurediva - hello to you too, good for you for being good on the diet today, though how you have the energy to go work out after a 12 hour day is beyond me. You go girl

Jill - that's great that you have already started your training for the new job, and so funny that you could correct errors made by the woman supposedly being the one to train you to be an editor LOL.

Good for you for learning that you can be far too easily tempted by the canteen food and for deciding not to take any money or cards with you next time you go there. It's hard to be sociable and diet isn't it.

Babs - sounds like a great idea sewing instead of eating. I tend to spend my time online to do the same thing. If nobody is around to chat to and I have caught up with my message boards and emails, then I play games. Anything to keep busy and keep my mind off food. Half the time I used to eat from boredom, the other half comfort eating. I rarely ate just because I was hungry. I love it when I diet because it's nice to actually want food for the right reasons.

As for the test you did, I am glad not doing so good at it didn't get you to turn to the comfort food. It sounds like loads of people didn't do very well at all. If you ask me that shows the teacher isn't a good one rather than the students being at fault.

Jilly b I do'nt think that you are trying to appear clever, if its your job it should be done properly, the 'trainer' maybe got her job without having to edit anything before getting the job . I often went in shops, and whilst paying for stuff explained about apostrophes, a real PET HATE of mine , that wherever there's an 'S' there is'nt always an ' but it fell on deaf ears or ignorant grunts, so I gave up, BUT, sadly, I still inwardly fume about their abuse! how sad am I?

Not stuck to plan, too ill, will see the damage on thurs, by then I should be weighed & be up to exercising & eating good, healthy food. Hope you're all doing better than me!

voodoo--luckily, she also explained to me that the client isn't as worried about a missing comma or anything like that as much as they are worried about conflicting information. So, my first priority is just to make sure that the answers checked off with Yes or No (or whatever that particular form has as options) match what is written in the narrative below the checked boxes. I could see how a client might be upset by a report where the question "did the hostess greet you?" is checked with a No, but in the narrative, it says something like, "the hostess smiled and welcomed us as soon as we walked in..." Yeah, I'd say that's more important than a missing comma (or an extra apostrophe, as the case may be ). However, I know I will be far more thorough with the narratives simply because pretty much any punctuation, spelling, or grammatical issue is a pet peeve of mine (since I am a full-time technical writer/editor)

I'm actually really excited about this opportunity. I'm hoping it will develop very well so that in the future, when I have children and need to be on maternity leave from my full-time job or even want to stop working full-time all together to stay home with my children, I will already have a well-established means of income that I can do from home. How's that for thinking ahead, since I'm not even engaged yet, let alone married and planning a family

Julee....WOW....great job on losing 70 pounds...That is awesome. I hope to lose 70 pounds by May. I have thought about joining WW and if I did I would probably do the core program as well.

Good morning er...afternoon ladies ~~

Well today was the third day that I worked out with Robin. Can you say sore? I didn't think that I was going to be able to climb back up the stairs to leave the gym. I did 20 minutes on the treadmill to warm up, ab machines, the rotten fly, the rower, that evil shoulder press , bicep curls, tricep machines, hip abducter and adducters, I did machines for my hamstrings and for the front of my thighs and I finished up on the elliptical machine but I only did that for 10 minutes today. Don't ask me why, but we were a little tired today. Actually I was sore before I took my shower, but now I feel pretty good. I don't know if that means I should be working out harder or not.

So--I know you're all going to think I'm totally crazy but I'm watching "The Wiggles" as I'm typing this. I don't have any kids but this show makes me laugh. I really respect the job that these guys do--3 of them are actually certified teachers--I think for pre-school--and Jeff is a musician. Some of the girls I work with have little ones who absolutely ADORE the Wiggles, which is how I heard about them.

Jilly--great job with lunch! Although I don't know how you can drink that Coca~Cola 0. I tried it and didn't like it at all. Give me that old Diet Coke with the aftertaste anyday. I must be used to it--that's all I can say. I think your plan for the future is very practical. I would love to work from home--I just don't know what to do or how to go about doing it.

Sigh. I've ran into my usual stumbling block, asthma.

I had an attack start up yesterday while I was soaking in the tub, reading a book. I hadn't even used any soap yet, so it wasn't triggered by an allergy. I almost wonder if there was something in the water.

It hasn't entirely gone away since. I had trouble got to sleep last night since I couldn't catch my breath very well. I'd been hoping and hoping that if I got down to about 300 this would go away like it did before, but I guess I need to take into account that I'm not as young as I used to be. I also keep hoping that eating healthy will help with my allergies overall, but not much luck with that yet.

Well, actually I thought I was getting better overall, so yesterday hit me like ton of bricks. I hadn't had any attacks in quite a while.

This makes it really hard to exercise when I can't even sit still without gasping for breath.

HI everyone I haven't posted like in forever. I need to improve that. I am doing ww the points and so far so good. Thanks to Ammi. I know if I post more here I would do even better. I like to snack at night so that is my hard time but I haven't cheated. Been eating veggies at night instead. Doing some exercise.

The café on campus has a lot of good healthy foods, but then they have Pizza Hut and KFC, Mexican food, Chinese food… and I go in there and I start drooling I try to be good but sometimes it’s really hard! Glad to see the new job is going well!

QuiltingQueen - I did the same thing with my calculus homework… granted it’s not an exam… but it hurts none the less.

Dolfingirl – congrats on going to the gym!! Woohoo I know how you feel when you say you are sore but then later feel better. I get the same feeling.

Esmaraude – I’m sorry to hear about your asthma acting up! I have asthma too, as a matter of fact I am going in tomorrow for a nebulizer treatment and a refill on my inhaler. What really sucks is when I get bronchitis because then my asthma flares up and makes it worse!

Today is the second day of my new calorie diet. I’m doing 2100 calories now. I looking forward to seeing how well it goes! I was afraid I was going to have a hard time doing this, but so far no problems.

I gotta run, I have a lot of homework to do and I wanna get to bed early.

I just had to post that I lost 9 pounds...I am sooo excited!!! Looks like this walking 2 miles a day and eating healthy is paying off. I just have to make sure I stick to it this time. I know it is only 9 pounds but I already have so much more energy and I sleep better at night. Girls....just remember WE CAN DO IT!!!

Teena, I'm 39 and have had similar thoughts to yours -- I'm too young to be starting to have health problems! I'm tired of not going places because I think I'll be too fat! I think many people here had the same thoughts. Frankly, that's why this time around seems different to me... Good luck!

Hi Ladies! I managed to drag my sorry sick self to the gym today. i did about 45 min of Yoga, but i LIKED it. it was hard, and there were times i had to stop and regroup, but i made myself finish. it was great. i didnt even realize the time. what i DID realize was my big gut in the full wall mirrors that surround the workout room in the gym... lol but there was a part where we had our hands up in the air and i was all stretched out, and actually liked what i saw. ive got a ways to go, but, its a start. like they say, a journey of a thousand miles starts with one step. i wanted to stay longer, but it was super busy, and my nose is still runny, so, i came home and took my grandmother to walmart with me to get some water and slimfast optima (which i HIGHLY recommend for a snack - 180 cals - 3 pts - 50% calcium for the day). then came home and napped, and now here i am... however, while i was at the gym i did weigh in, and even tho i havent been eating that great and havent been to the gym in almost a week, i was only up .2 . I can deal with that. back OP today!!
