  • emndarmic,

Those are good choices in moderation. There is nothing wrong with that. I don't do fruit roll ups, cookies, sugar cereals, white bread or stuff like that either here. However, I do allow it in the house as treats or what have you. Again, in moderation.

Before you do anything.. talking to the doctor is the best bet. Normally they will tell you which diet your child should follow. I have heard of many doing something like WW which is like calorie counting and so forth. You don't want to totally cut out a food group though.
  • Barb - very cool that your son is nutrition-conscious, good job!
  • Well, I didn't intentionally mean for the whole family to do this with me. But the more junk I get rid of in the house, the more likely they are to grab an apple instead of a bag of Hot Cheetos. LOL I was once concerned about how the kids were eating-mac and cheese and pop tarts seem to be their way of life-and the doc told me as long they are growing and functioning and they are doing well in school, not to worry about it.
I feel alot better about them grabbing a boiled egg for an after school snack than 15 cookies like they used to. if there is nothing else around, they WILL eat the good stuff.
And when they go to someone else's house and eat junk, that's fine as long as they aren't doing it more than the good stuff at home.
    Just my personal opinion.
