I have to agree that some scales are accurate for smaller weights and less accurate for larger weights. My old scale was accurate for weighing my 3 year old but not for me. It was always 10 lbs out.

I have a Body Fit digital scale I bought at Wal Mart. It seems to be very accurate as it has agreed with every other scale I have used ie gym, doctor's etc. I can't remember how much it was, probably $35 or so.

Okay, just for you fanatics out there. Here's a scale that is calibrated for trade - so it's as exact as possible.

Swimgirl - who says 11 lbs. can't be a size? It depends on where you lose it from. It also depends on where you are in relation to the size above. Say you're in a slightly-snug 18. 11 lbs. lost could most definitely bring you down to a 16. Then again, say you have to lay down on the bed with a pair of pliers and a prayer to get your 18 jeans zipped. At that point, a size might be 20 lbs.

It also depends on how much you are exercising. About ten years ago, I went to the gym every single day for an hour or more a day for three months straight. (Stress relief...long story.) I didn't do much cardio - mostly lifted weights. In that three months, I lost three dress sizes (went from a 16 to a 10) but only three pounds. Muscle weighs more (and takes up much less room) than fat.

Swimgirl - I DEFINITELY think you could turn that into an olympic event. So much better than trampoline bouncing (which actually IS an olympic even!!!)
I have only weighed myself with my scale at home (I have scale avoidance anywhere else) This morning when I weighed myself it said 265. About two hours later (after breakfast and lots of water) my husband weighed me (that's when I call it "official") and I weight 263. So I don't know. Maybe leaning forward and looking down does affect it.

I am doing the LA Weightloss program which requires a 3x/week weigh in, and I recently bought a new home scale - compared to the "official" scale at LAWL my home scale is usually only .2 off. I love it! It was $35, I think, at Target, and it has a "weight monitoring" feature that lets you save your weight, and it calculates whether you are up or down from your last weigh in and your starting weight, and also lets you program in a goal weight. The brand is "health-o-meter" (which is a corny name, but a good scale!). :
