  • Congrats Seashell! That's awesome!
  • Shelley you are just doing AWESOME!!! Keep up the good work!
  • Oh wow Seashell! 47 pounds that is GREAT! I hope I can do as well. Keep up the good work!
  • DonnaD: Hi! I'm Type II Diabetic too, and I think it just comes off slower for us. It will come off though. Persistence. Meds can sometimes interfere w/the rate of loss too. On any meds? It also took my blood sugar a few weeks to stabilize, but it definitely did. My Hemaglobin a1c reads are all in the normal range now w/o meds.

Keep up the good work and it will come off!

    Nice to meet you!
  • K,

Nice to meet you too! 60lbs! Wow, congrats Did you lose all of that on Atkins? How long did it take for your numbers to stabilize to normal? I haven't seen normal in yrs. I'm taking metformin at nite, but I supposed to be taking it in the morning and also glucotrol. I had my numbers down when on vacation in Aug but then I came home and back to old habits and the weight and the numbers went up. (When I started induction last monday my morning blood sugar was over 250, yesterday down to 225. (which is still really high) I need to start walking again.

I have to ask, what are equator miles?

Oh, I should add, I weighed in this morning and was down 3.5 lbs (thats after going up 3lbs and down 3lbs, then down another 3.5, so net loss 3.5 for the first week of induction, not great)

How's everyone? I feel better after going to the chiropractor. Had to leave work early. Now I've been glued to the TV with all the season premiers.

    ttyl
  • Donna, the equator trek miles are any form of exercise you do in a week that you want to log in there.
And congrats on the weight loss. ANY loss is a good loss Keep up the good work!!
  • Donna,

Congratulations on the loss! Brenda's right, any loss is a good loss.

As for me, most of my weight loss has not been from Atkins. I did a lot of emotional eating while in a bad marriage. Once that was over the initial weight just kinda fell off. Then I started running, which took more off. This last 16 pounds or so has been from Atkins. I think it makes the best sense for me, being Type II and all. I figured that since I have to watch my carbs for the rest of my life anyway, I might as well lose some weight in the process. It really does work, it just takes persistance.

As for my numbers, it did take a couple weeks for my blood sugar to stabilize. Now, my reads in the morning are between 80 and 100, which is amazing for me. I always had high readings in the a.m., around 180 on a lot of days. I'm not taking meds now, but was on 2 pills of glucophage per day. What is glucotrol? Does it work the same way as glucophage?

You are dead on w/the exercise. That will definitely help your numbers come down too. When you say you have reading over 200 is that in the a.m. or throughout the day?

    Keep up the good work!
