  • Have fun Kat and Barb!!!

    Thin & Barb -

Its rainy today so I haven't done much and don't feel very rambunctious. We have had such a wet and gloomy spring and early summer.

Since I know nothing, I'll muster up some energy and do something.

    Have a good day!
  • Happy Birthday Kat. Hope you have a great day in the city.
    Steph
  • Hello Gals!

Kat - Did you make it? What did you end up seeing? We walked past the TKTS line and I looked for you. The city was so crowded today - did you see the lines for the tour buses - YIKES!

We just got back from NYC. All in all it was a fun day. Unfortunately I am just not quite my cheerful self due to all these damn drugs in my body. The morning started out with a visit to the Dr. More blood work and another ultra sound. This time the actual Dr. did it and not a tech. Things are still not looking great, but we have a fighting chance to get a couple eggs. He said right now the way things look we could get 0-4. Not good odds considering they might not all be mature and they might not all fertilize -- so many hurdles to jump in this process. We figure it only takes one good one, so we'll give it a good college try! Anyway, after that I got home and DH was suppose to have showered and taken the dogs out and been ready to leave - NO, instead of being ready he was off getting breakfast (for himself) at Mickey D's. I laid into him because we decided last night that he wouldn't go to the Dr. with be in order to get everything ready to catch the train. Not to mention I didn't get anything to eat. Boy, I was ticked! We did managed to get to the train station with a minute or two to spare....got to NYC about noon - walked to the Theater District - had lunch at Lindy's - we split a cheeseburger and a piece of cheesecake for $50! Then it was off to the show - Chicago - currently staring Paige Davis from Trading Spaces. It was GREAT! She was excellent! After watching here on TS for the past couple years it was fun to see her on stage! After the show was a quick cab back to the train station and home in time for my 7pm injection!

Tomorrow morning means yet another trip to the Dr. and then we are just going to take it easy for the 4th!

I just showered and now I am going to become a couch potato! Talk to you chicks later!

  • Kat just wanted to add my birthday wishes to brighten your day.
  • Happy 4th of July!

I hope you are all off having a wonderful day and staying away from the temptation of too many goodies.

It's going to be a quiet one here. Got up early for another Dr. visit and will go back in again tomorrow. Jeff went with me today and we had a good long talk with the Dr. about whether or not to proceed with this cycle. We are still going for it. He was honest and told us the chances are slim, but also told us some success stories of patients in similar situations. If we give up we have zippo chance, at least if we go for it we have a small glimmer of hope. I will continue going in everyday and we will tentatively have the egg retrieval procedure on Thurs or Fri. Ok - that's it for the daily IVF rambling brought to you by the very hormonal, extremely tired and slightly irritable Barb.

Wanted to say a quick welcome to Jamiemarie!!! I saw you posted your bio. Please feel free to jump in and chat whenever you want. We won't bite (too hard). And yes, contrary to my posts of late we are a wonderful group of women for weightloss (and anything else) support. I have been in the "anything else" category lately because I've been undergoing IVF treatments. This is an amazing group of ladies who I have gotten to know and love over the past year or so! I hope you will let us get a chance to know you and support you on your journey!

Whew....I am a blabbermouth today, gotta run, gonna veg on the couch for a bit!

    Love Ya!
    Barb
  • Happy Valentine's Day!!!
oh, whoa, I'm sorry, wrong holiday!

    Happy Fourth of July!!!!

    There, that's better!
Sometimes I just don't know what gets into me.

Hope you are all having a GREAT weekend. We'll be storming here by the time it's time for our BarBQ! Oh well, call it a summer holiday in Michigan!
  • Happy Fourth!
    Good Morning all!!

I woke up this morning to the dog barking furiously..."What the....? The mail lady doesn't come today." I peeked out my window and saw the guys setting up to install my new picture window!! I forgot they were coming today!! Yes, on the fourth of July...No, I'm not paying them extra. The company called the other day and asked if it was okay...seeing as I had no plans, (other than sleep, I guess) I said "Sure!" and promptly forgot! Quickly I threw some clothes on, ripped the old curtains down, moved the loveseat and the coffee table, tucked the dog away elsewhere and ushered them in to do their thing. Oh, it's nice. We had a huge bow window, with 12 panels, none of which opened. The new window has 4 vertical panes, all of which crank open, so I can have a breeze in here finally. Of course this means I'll need new curtains....

Barb, I was looking for you! I'm glad you enjoyed Chicago...I thought about getting tickets to see that, knowing you were there! (but I saw it already!) Boy, did we have a great day! We took the ferry in, then took the subway to Times Square, where the TKTS booth is. (discount tix sold here) We got there at about a quarter to two...(matinees start at 2) and scored some half price tickets. $50 apiece, for third row mezzanine, right smack in the center for Fiddler on the Roof, starring Alfred Molina. We were congratulating each other on our fantastic seats and the people around us were all P.O.d saying, "You paid WHAT for these seats????" (hee hee) Alfred Molina plays the bad guy in the current Spiderman 2 movie, he's been a character actor in quite a few movies that I've seen. He, and the show were excellent!! I had no idea that I would cry so much. Oy! The heartbreak of daughters leaving the bosom of the family! agghhh!

We had dinner at a cute little French restaurant...some guy on the corner handed my daughter a coupon for this place, not far from the theater. The prices looked really good, so we figured why not...we've had the $50.00 cheeseburger before! With 10% off for the coupon AND the complimentary glass of wine, (for me, she had soda) 2 excellent meals AND dessert, the bill came to, get this, in NYC, $46.30!!! So, next time Barb, look for Pergolas des Artistes, right behind the Imperial theater on W 46 St. Better yet, we'll go together on our next NYC outing! Everyone invited!!

All in all, it was a great birthday...I even managed to lose a pound...I suppose with all that walking the streets, climbing stairs in and out of subway stations, not to mention the twenty buckets of tears I cried!

Thank you all again for the sweet birthday wishes!!! You guys are the best!

I see we have some more newbies on the bio and weigh in threads and I wanted to welcome you, Lynne and Jamiemarie! Just jump right in and join the fun!

Time for more I'll be back later.

    Have a great day, all!
  • Good morning everyone.... I hope everyone is having a WONDERFUL 4th of July! I myself... am at work today. I figured it would be fairly slow because of the holidays, but boy, was I wrong. We had major power outages on two different ends of town and everyone and their mama was calling "reporting" the power was out. If I never hear...."I was wondering if anyone reported a power outage?" again.... it will be TOO soon.

Other than that, it's been semi ok. Tomorrow is the day I really dread though. A TON of the companies we answer for (utility, doctors, lawyers, realty) are closed tomorrow and I just know we're going to get slammed. If you think of it sometime tomorrow, please send up a good wish for me.

We had our July 4th cookout yesterday since I knew I would be working today and I must say it was really good. We had bbq chicken, corn on the cob, baked beans, coleslaw and deviled eggs. My brother and sil came over and then we watched the race, which was delayed by two hours due to rain. Tony was leading the race with only 8 laps to go and I was so nervous I thought I would die because he only took two tires on his last pit stop and everyone behind him took four. I was actually quite surprised he did that because he *never* takes two tire pit stops.... he always takes the safe way out with four. Anyhoo.... Gordo ended up passing him, with help from Jimmie Johnson and Tony ended up 5th. I won't cry over a top 5 finish, but still.... I wanted to see him in Victory Lane!!

Ya'll did want to hear the Nascar report, right?

    Oh my......

Anyways.... I just wanted to check in with you guys to see how you were doing on this lovely rainy day. I hope you guys are having better weather than we are.

Hope Kat and Terri also had WONDERFUL birthday!

I'll check in with you guys later!
  • Hey everyone

Happy belated birthdays to Terri and Kat!

Happy 4th of July to all of us!

I'm supposed to be sleeping right now, but the fam made a ton of noise getting out the door to church, sooooo here I am.

I got through the celebrations yesterday (about everyone here celebrated on the 3rd) pleasantly unscathed. Could have had something to do with hitting an uncharacteristically anti-social streak and skipping everything past the rubber ducky derby in the afternoon. This last week was very tough emotionally as well as physically draining, and that probably was behind it all. I just wanted to be home. I even stayed inside when the neighbors came over to ask if we wanted to do fireworks with them. I wasn't bluesy, I just didn't want to be around people.

The duck race was a total hoot and I'm glad I was there. We did have one bizarre minute when a dust devil raced through the middle of our area and whipped water and sand everywhere. I've never been in the middle of one, and BIZARRE is about the only word I can find to describe the experience. It scattered things everywhere, and you could see bowls from the concessions spinning in circles more than 100 feet off the ground as it carried them off with it. Weird!

I think the first week of Decisions went very well. It is kind of hard to say how well, because I was coming off the low-carb, so my starting weight was up a couple pounds of water weight. Still, I was down 5 at my Thursday Decisions WI, and when I hopped the scale at Curves, I had managed to get another .5 below my lowest weight there (I wish their scales weighed me the same!). Not too bad considering TOM was rearing its ugly head. I'll be able to give you all more concrete numbers next week, but I'm happy knowing I made progress instead of just going back through old numbers I've seen before.

Decision Weight Loss Center had an ad on the radio, and after mentioning it to a co-worker, she said that a previous co-worker of ours had lost a lot of weight on it and he had kept it off for over a year already. He and his wife were thrilled with the program and had done so well they even filmed a local tv commercial featuring the two of them. The plan appears to be based on eating a balanced diet made up of real foods. Each diet is tailored to the individual instead of a one-size fits all mentality. I liked that. It does take planning to meet the eating goals for every day, but I'm coming fairly close without too much brain power. I'm supposed to fit in 4 proteins, 4 fruits, 4 vegetables, 4 starches, 3 dairy, 3 fats, 2 supplements, 4 extras and ... 19 glasses of water every day! Yes, that was 19... I've come fairly close, but as you might guess, that is an awful lot of water. If you don't wish to purchase supplements from them, you can skip those, and the extras are things like ketchup, light salad dressings, etc. I'm having to work a bit to get in all the fruits, but the veggies aren't much of a problem for me. Besides, it is kind of fun shaking things up a bit in my diet. I was becoming bored and too lazy to cook anything new for the low-carb diet.

Not much to tell other than that. If you are out shopping and don't know if or how something fits into the plan, you give them a call. If you want to make a recipe and don't know how much you can eat and what categories to log it in, you give them a call. They run the numbers for you, and you can work it from there. I've already found out that two small pumpkin chocolate chip cookies logs as 1 starch and 1 fat. If I make the cookies with Splenda instead of sugar, it is 1/2 a starch and 1 fat, or can go as 1 fat and 3 extras. Gives me a bit of leeway to play with there. Plus, I get to eat a couple of my all-time favorite cookies without guilt because I planned for them. So far the only thing I wish is that their food planner covered a more broad area, because I don't like having to call in for everything. Label me Miss Independent.

There is a whole lot to reply to here, but I've got to give more sleep a serious chance, or I'll be in big trouble tonight at work. Take care, all!

  • I'm back from North Carolina and I LOVE it there! I even found my HOUSE! Now if I just had that letter from LOWE'S saying John has the job I would have put an offer in on it! Oh well...I'm sure there will be another when the time is right!

I just want to say happy belated birthday to Terri and Kat!!

I have to go unpack and do some laundry and get stuff ready for work tomorrow! We both have to work. I'll be back!

  • Hi, chickies!
I hope everyone is having a fun and happy fourth of July! Mine was/is very low key. My daughter and I had big plans of riding our bikes to the beach, since attempting to drive there would be an exercise in futility. Unless, of course, you LIKE sitting in stop and go (mostly stop) traffic for 2 hours for what's usually a 20 minute drive. We packed a back pack with two towels and two bottles of water, slathered on our sunscreen and headed out....maybe a little too optimistically. I kinda knew we wouldn;t make it all the way there, but she was insistant, "we're going to need a swim after our ride." I think we got about 5 miles into the ride (about 10 miles) and decided that our hineys had had enough and turned back. We did ride for about 2 hours, so it was a great workout, and we had a lot of laughs, so all was not lost. The beach will still be there tomorrow.

Came home, had a couple of hot dogs, some cole slaw and some watermelon. Decided that we were too pooped to go see any fireworks and opted for curling up on our respective couches with a movie. So we watched Ghostbusters. A few of her friends are here now so I retreated to the computer. When I'm done here, I have every intention of curling up in bed with Dr Phil and getting down to business!

Oh, what dirty minds you all have!
  • I hope all of you had a wonderful 4th holiday. We had a "sandwich" dinner after church this morning, then instead of our regular 5:30 service this afternoon, we just had a short devotional after the dinner, so everyone could go to the fireworks, etc whatever holiday thing they had planned. The devotional was very moving. It was God & County and we sang the patriotic type songs like God Bless America. Then I came home and took my nap and have been lazzing around ever since. We are watching the National 4th program on the public channel and it's very good.

I'm trying to stay focused and not over eat just because we are home this weekend.
  • Hi guys !!!!! It is 1:30am and I am worn out and oh so tired... but had to peek in before bed.
Sounds like a fun day in NYC for Barb and Kat. I liked both Plays... although I have never seen them on Broadway.
Kat... Remember the scene where the dad sings "Sunrise, Sunset" ...where he talks about them growing up and getting married and wanting to help but he knows they have each other to lean on...... well that is the song we played at my daughters wedding for the parents to walk in with. I cried every time I heard it before the wedding. I LOVE that song.
Barb... I love Paige. I am sooo happy for her. I know she will be great in it.

Tina... so good to hear about Tony again. We missed both of you. LOL
    Sorry you had to work.

Michelle ... glad to you loved North Carolina. Isn't it great that internet goes everywhere so we never have to fear you moving away from us.

We had a wonderful 4th. We had a bunch of company over. Swimming , volleyball, barbeque, fireworks galore. In fact.. we had sooo many fireworks we shot them off both Sat and Sun night. We had company both days and nights. It was fun... but I am glad to have tomorrow ALONE. LOL

I know I owe more replys... but I am soooo sleepy. I have got to get to bed.
  • Happy 5th of July!
