  • That pic is a real eye opener, thanks for posting it!
  • Did any of you watch Celebrity Fit Club on VH1? On the last show, the doctor handed each of the people blobs of fat equalling the amount he or she had lost. Like one of them said, "where was it all?". They also ran sprints wearing vests weighted down with the amounts they'd lost (similar to the race in "The Biggest Loser").
  • It's in my avator
  • I just showed this photo to a friend of mine at work who is frustrated with slow weight loss. She made the comment this morning that her clothes are fitting better since she started working out, but she failed to see any results on the scale. She feels better now! Thanks for sharing. It will help Terri (and me, too, but I already know how much exercise can do!)

    LOVE, JILL
  • Hi, I'm new.

That is a great motivator. You can buy a piece of "pet fat" online, but I figure why pay for a hunk of fake fat when I can just look in the mirror... and now this picture really helps.

Another motivator is going to see the Body Worlds exhibit at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago, IL. It's really something to see.

Anyone here with spinal problems and have difficulty exercising as it causes pain? I've been trying to break up my recumbant stationary biking into 10 minute increments, but am finding it hard.
  • Quote: Talk about an eye opener. I'm tempted to print it and put it up at work but its may scare people lol.

I just made it the background on my computer screen at work. Ew. Talk about motivation!!
  • Titanium, I would *love* to see that exhibit! It's amazing how the plastination process preserves the parts (boy, if THAT wasn't alliteration, I don't know what is!). Fascinating stuff.

  • It really was an inthralling exhibit.

I'll tell ya - if you want to go check out Amtrak prices on their website.

From Royal Oak, MI (just outside Detroit - Detoilet as I call it) it was only $50 round trip per person - and no parking fees in Chicago at the hotel.

We pricelined a hotel and got one for $79 a night - 1/2 of normal prices for a 4-5 star hotel.

We stayed near Merchandise Mart (to catch a blues benefit show at House of Blues) so did get hit with a $15 cab fare to go to the Southside to the museum, but worth it.

You can always get a hotel closer to the museum to save on that cab fare - although Union Station is closer to the Merchandise Mart.
  • oh god!
thats very disturbing i never realised how much fat five lbs. actually was.
    125lbs
    ten lbs. to go !
  • Great motivator! Also just read in Fitness magazine that a pound of fat is equivalent to 4 sticks of butter! (I'm guess they used the 3,500 calorie conversion scale) EWWW!!!

Ok, time for me to get rid of more "butter."

    Goal: 150 ~ Current: 165 ~ Heaviest: 184

  • A stick of butter weighs 1/4 pound, so four sticks of butter = a pound. It's not related to the calorie content, just the weight.
  • As you might be able to tell from my avator, I'm in the medical field (a med student at the moment) and boy oh boy was anatomy motivating! Its amazing what is in your body!
  • Makes me want to work out reeeeaaaaaaalllll bad!
  • I tell ya, I was trying on bras tonight and seeing the belly hanging down there made me think of this thread. I've lost inches in my arms and bust, but need to *work* at getting my abdominal muscles toned up. Found some great-fitting bras after trying on, oh 30 or so...But short of a foundational garment, exercise is the only thing that's going to tighten up the belly!
  • I think that needs to go onto my fridge....
